Instructions:

Work the Practice Problems for Waiting Lines homework assignment – some assistance:

  • Please read and review the Waiting Lines homework assignment – some assistance carefully, before you start solving these problems. Then, upload your answers in a Word document.
  • You must show all your calculations work, or credit will not be given!
  • Work the problems in this document. They make you use one or more of the models you have studied.
  • Figure out first which model is relevant; then use the formulas and charts to obtain the answers for the performance measures asked about.

Problems 68-71 use 5 machines. See Table D.8 in the book on page 601.

Some tips for Qs #7 & #8:

Let’s start with #7. This is an M/M/1 (page 591)

The first thing that you need to figure out is how many vehicles are “out of service,” which is the number of vehicles in the system, which is Ls.

The problem statement says that it costs $150 per vehicle per day to be out of service. So, the “cost” of the number of vehicles out of service is Ls x $150

There is also labor cost per day. The total cost per day is therefore the labor cost plus the cost of the vehicles that are out of service.

Now for #8. This is an M/M/S (page 594)– more specifically, an M/M/2 (two crews)

You do the cost in the same way as in #7, but with different formulas. Figure out Ls, then multiply that by the cost of the breakdown ($150) – this is the machine cost of the system. Then you add labor cost like you did in #7, then that is the total cost.

The challenge on this one is to calculate Ls. Look at the formula on page 594. To calculate Ls, you first need to do Po. M=2, arrival rate = 8, service rate = 11.

Calculate Po, then Ls, then do the machine and labor costs!

When I first saw Mobile Device Management (MDM), I thought it would only apply to phones and tablets, but now that I see laptops are included, I definitely see the need to have a strong MDM department within any business or large organization. Citrix Endpoint Management (formerly XenMobile as referenced in the CEH book) is cloud-based just like IBM’s MaaS360 management solution but also offers a pay as you use it fee so not only do you not have to buy additional servers or infrastructure, it will also not be a large up front cost as the IT team experiments with and initiates enforcement (Citrix). Using IBM’s or Citrix’s MDM solutions would allow the company to remotely monitor all mobile devices, enforce security settings and requirements on all devices, and if lost or stolen remotely wipe all corporate information to avoid data compromise.

I’ve personally seen a couple companies using a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy to allow their remote workers to use their own laptops and phones/tablets to work while at home and when traveling to the office. From what I could tell it was extremely useful because, as stated in CEH and on Citrix’s website, the employees are more productive since they are already comfortable with their own devices and operating systems. To make this work, the employees had to complete training to follow good security practices and keep their corporate information separate from personal information, required VPN’s while teleworking, and allow their device to be remotely monitored in case of loss or compromise. The most difficult part to guard against would be a disgruntled employee or one that was recently fired because it would be difficult to guarantee that the rules were completely followed.

Assignment: Introduction to Quantitative Analysis: Confidence Intervals Humanities Assignment Help

In your Week 2 Assignment, you displayed data based on a categorical variable and continuous variable from a specific dataset. In Week 3, you used the same variables as in Week 2 to perform a descriptive analysis of the data. For this Assignment, you will calculate a confidence interval in SPSS for one of the variables from your Week 2 and Week 3 Assignments.

To prepare for this Assignment:

  • Review the Learning Resources related to probability, sampling distributions, and confidence intervals.
  • For additional support, review the Skill Builder: Confidence Intervals and the Skill Builder: Sampling Distributions, which you can find by navigating back to your Blackboard Course Home Page. From there, locate the Skill Builder link in the left navigation pane.
  • Using the SPSS software, open the Afrobarometer dataset or the High School Longitudinal Study dataset (whichever you chose) from Week 2.
  • Choose an appropriate variable from Weeks 2 and 3 and calculate a confidence interval in SPSS.
  • Once you perform your confidence interval, review Chapter 5 and 11 of the Wagner text to understand how to copy and paste your output into your Word document.

For this Assignment:

Write a 2- to 3-paragraph analysis of your results and include a copy and paste of the appropriate visual display of the data into your document.

Based on the results of your data in this confidence interval Assignment, provide a brief explanation of what the implications for social change might be.
