Several of you have asked about the field trip assignment given the context of living safely during the coronavirus pandemic.

Let’s get creative! Enter the virtual field trip experience.

Here is the intention of the assignment:

A field trip is made by students to study something experientially. For this class you may choose:

  • your own field trip to explore a service in a particular tradition other that your own. This means if you always have Shabbat dinner with your family, a Shabbat dinner would not be a good choice for a field trip.
  • to experience an a museum exhibit that reflects the art of a tradition
  • lecture that debates an issue in the philosophy of religion
  • an experience of one of the traditions, e.g., yoga, nature journey, chanting, meditation, Shabbat service, Catholic Mass

These options still remain, but we will get to do these virtually. Choose a website that attracts you to learn about a tradition or spiritual practice you are not familiar with.

Here are some links that can get you started:

Website for Virtual Travel Experiences (Links to an external site.)

Website of Google Earth Virtual Tours of 30 Famous World Heritage Sites (Links to an external site.)

Website for Virtual Tours of 12 Famous Museums (Links to an external site.)

You can also use the list of options listed on the original assignment.

The opportunity here is to be creative, expand your horizon, and have fun;

  • include pictures of your excursions
  • think outside of the box
  • share your experience in the discussion post or with links, videos, music, artwork, poetry

FAQs About the field trip assignment:

  • How can I get maximum points for the assignment? Concentrate on Part 2 of the assignment, which has you link the field trip to concepts in the philosophy of religion course.
  • What if the virtual field trip I’d like to do is not on the list of links? I empower you to choose a field trip that you think would expand your horizons and be that you can relate to the philosophy of religion course.
  • If the virtual field trip is not on the list do I need the professor’s permission? Nope. I trust your judgment.
  • Can I use a trip that I took last summer when I was in Europe? No, the field trip needs to take place in the semester of this course.

Some possibilities in the L.A. area include the following. Look for their online versions of communicating their services and classes:

After your visit, write 500-750 words about your experience of your field trip including the following:

  • Point 1: Description of your field trip visit and why you choose it
  • Point 2: How the field trip related to the content of philosophy of religion (Use numbers to 1-4 to delineate four points of connection to the philosophy of religion course.) Spend 2-3 sentences on each point.
  • Point 3: The impact of your visit on you personally or how it relates to a contemporary issue

Peer evaluation Science Assignment Help

8:00 am – Security is
notified that an individual matching the description of Smith has
entered ABC Financial Inc. with several firearms. The individual
demanded and obtained an employees’ access control badge in the lobby
and gained full access to the building.

  • Referring
to the detailed emergency response the team developed, what
preparations should the company have in place to handle this situation?

The
preparation ABC Financial Inc. should have in place to handle this
situation of a possible John Smith entering the building should be that
security should take immediate action in locating the person in order to
prevent any harm employees in the building. If it is indeed John Smith
who has entered the building, it can lead to a possible active shooter
attack. As this is not the type of building where employees bring
firearms to the workplace, seems to be a high possibility that it is
John Smith that entered the building unlawfully. Warnings and
notifications should be sent immediately to all departments as well as
contacting 911 for emergency response. Since John Smith does have full
access to the building, an immediate lockdown will be placed in which
everyone should shelter-in-place in order to seek safety. The lockdown
will follow by disabling all control badges to prevent unauthorized
access of John Smith.

  • What specific plans should have been established prior to the incident?

Specific
plans that should have been established prior to the incident are to
conduct a risk assessment in order to identify the threat and risk that
fired employees may pose towards the company or other employees.
Analysis of the vulnerabilities and impact will allow them to develop a
plan of mitigation strategies in an event an incident does happen.
Therefore the management of each department should be made aware of the
recent employee termination and the possible signs of the type of
individual John Smith appears to be. Enforcement of protective action
for life safety training should be gone over with their employees of
their specific department as soon as possible to educate them in an
event of violent actions or an active shooting.

  • What are the immediate considerations?

Immediate
considerations to take action of is how will this incident jeopardize
the lives of all employees and the assets of the company. A thorough
emergency plan that’s developed for protocols of protective actions in a
quickly timely manner should be practiced to ensure effectiveness of
shelter-in-place and lockdown. Especially if firearms are involved,
safety is prioritized in this situation.

8:02 am – What decisions and actions should you consider now that 911 has been called by Security:

  • What are your concerns?

Now
that 911 have been contacted by Security, the main concern should be
for the safety of all employees and protecting company assets. Since
John Smith was able to obtain an access control badge, it is a more of a
priority to enforce shelter and safety of the people. If individuals
aren’t quickly efficient in seeking shelter for the lockdown, it can put
their lives at risk of being targeted, attacked or put in danger.

  • What are your immediate actions?

Immediate
actions to take as security is to prioritize the safety of everyone and
as soon as it seems clear that all individuals has sought shelter and
safety and no one is out, they can take their own protective measures as
they first should find out the location of where John Smith is at.
Depending if the securities are armed or not, will depend on the actions
they can take such on proceeding on locating the individual from a safe
distance to deescalate the situation or seeking shelter themselves if
possible in the control room so they can have a visual of the person’s
every move. They should stay on the phone with the 911 operator so that
they can communicate with law enforcement prior to arrival so that once
arrived, they can efficiently perform their police operations.

Final Submission Business Finance Assignment Help

In today’s world of healthcare, capital expenses are a common element to the financial management process. In fact, all healthcare organizations, at some point, must convert to an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system to be compatible with the rest of the world. However, this is a major capital expense that will cost many healthcare organizations millions of dollars. Purchasing an EHR system will undoubtedly require the acquisition and use of long-term assets under a capital budget.

The final assignment of your project will require you to make a recommendation to finance an EHR system, based on information from previous assignments. You will compile all the information in a proposal format, which will be addressed to the organization’s executive managers. You will create a separate presentation as an overview of your proposal.

Your organization is considering financing a 1.5 million dollar EHR system (if an EHR system not a good fit for your case, you can choose any major health information system/technology but the 1.5 million dollar reference should remain the same). Based on the financial outlook of your case/organization, make a recommendation to purchase or not purchase the system. You will need to draw on the material you have learned in throughout the class and assignments; as well as background information from your case description. Collectively, that information will serve as the foundation to support your recommendation.

Your final Financial Analysis report should be a minimum of eight (8) pages in length, excluding title and reference pages.

  • Introduction of case and financial challenges and issues; perspective of financial challenge (Introduction)
  • Report on assets and liabilities, cash flows and financial position, etc (Financial Statements).
  • Examination of financial analysis methods (Financial Analysis Methods).
  • Interpretation of financial management and capital management; influences for capital investments and decision-making (Capital Management).
  • Assessment of EHR implementation (or relevant information system) and recommendation; using supportive information from financial management assignments (Proposal)

    • Summarizes and presents a collection of financial management concepts, strategies and methods; applicable to case financial position, needs and challenges.
  • Make sure to use block letter formatting and proposal formatting guidelines. You will need to include a title page. Remember, your audience is the organization’s executive managers. Make sure to use proper audience tone.
  • Include an APA formatted reference page to include at least five (5) academic sources, such as a book or an academic scholarly journal, to support your topic. You should reference your academic sources by including at least five (5) in-text citations. Academic scholarly journals can be access through the Rasmussen Online Library.

Your Presentation should be created in MS PowerPoint to include a minimum of seven (7) slides. You will also add a narration to your presentation that should be 15-20 minutes in length. Be sure to discuss your project components in a concise, yet effective manner. You should highlight key points of each component of the Financial Analysis Report, leading up to your EHR recommendation outcome. Include graphical displays (such as graphs or other pictorials) to add visual interest and support of your information. Use a professional tone and keep in mind that you are presenting to the executive management team; consider their interests as stakeholders.

Presentation Outline

  • Introduction
  • Summary of financial statements
  • Summary of financial analysis methods
  • Findings of capital management influences
  • EHR recommendation outcome
  • Summary/Conclusion
  • APA formatted reference slide

Artificial Intelligence Computer Science Assignment Help

For this assignment, you’ll be using some real-world data to predict product quality. The data will need some initial preparation before processing.

Your data file is based on reviews from The Ramen Rater, a site for serious ramen fans. The data consists of 2580 product reviews. For each, you have:

  • Identifier (unique integer)
  • Brand (355 values)
  • Variety (2413 unique values)
  • Style (8 values)
  • Country of origin (38 values)
  • Stars (numeric rating)
  • Top Ten (text, missing on most entries, ignore)

You will need to do some initial data configuration and recoding. This can (and should) be done separately, before using TensorFlow to build your network. Specifically:

  • Some companies have multiple products, others only appear once. Count the number of times each company name appears. Any company appearing only once should be replaced with “Other”. (With only 1 product, there’s no way to generalize about the company.)
  • The “variety” field has the richest information, but also needs some distillation before we can use it conveniently as input into a neural network. We’d like to identify specific features–flavors, descriptions, etc–that might tell us something. So we have to get it into that form. Again, this should be done separately: Take the text from the Variety column, and break it into words. Count the occurrences of each word and find the 100 most common words. Keep ONLY those words for classification. (Note that some reviews might have several of those popular words, others might not have any.) Code for the presence or absence of each of the most common 100 words. (Note that this is not one-hot coding; if 5 of the words are present, then all 5 should be accounted for in input, not just one.)

Once the data is ready for input, build a neural network in TF to predict the overall rating. Your rating should be by categories, 0-5 stars. Use 1-hot coding for the output (maximum value is taken as the classification).

Write up a short report discussing:

  • The configuration of your network, along with a brief overview of your TF code. It is not necessary to discuss the (python, perl, whatever) code you used to clean up the data.
  • Your cross-validation strategy
  • Summarize your results
  • Any further questions you’d like to discuss, ideas for extending this further, etc.

Submit your report and your source code by the deadline.

ESL 106 – Poupard – Spring 2020 WA 4 – Food Waste

You have read several texts about food waste. Most recently, you have read “Here’s How We Solve Our Food Waste Problem” by Michael Pellman Roland. For this essay assignment, you will summarize and respond to Roland’s article. In your first paragraph, you will summarize Roland’s article. In the next paragraph, you will explain the genre, audience, and purpose of his article. Finally, in the third and final paragraph, you will respond to these questions:

Is the author effective in arguing that his solutions will help alleviate the problem? Why or why not? First begin by stating your overall answer to that question in one sentence. Then explain one main solution he gives to solve the food waste problem. How does he support that point? Then explain why you are or are not convinced by this solution. These questions should be answered in one paragraph.

Genre: Audience- Purpose:

a summary response essay
your professor
to demonstrate that you have read and understood the article, and to demonstrate your critical thinking abilities on this issue.

Content & Organization

  1. In paragraph 1, summarize Roland’s article.
    (1) Follow the organization that I have previously given you.
  2. In paragraph 2, explain what you think the genre, audience, and purpose are. Be sure to support each of your points. For example, if you think the genre is a blog, state that. Then support how you came to the conclusion that it is a blog. If the web address says “blog,” that’s great. Include that. But also give one or two features that the blog contains that you think represent a blog genre. Do the same for the audience and purpose.
  3. In paragraph 3, respond to the questions at the top of this page. Start with one sentence that generally answers the main question. Then explain one solution that the author gives. Explain how he supports that solution. Then explain why you are or are not convinced by this point. Add a sentence at the end to briefly summarize your final point.Length and Format

This will be about 500 – 700 words. It will be formatted like the expository essays that you wrote previously.

Here’s How We Solve Our Food Waste Problem

page1image4374160 page1image4368336

a

  1. 1 Food waste is getting a lot of attention lately, and for good reason. No matter how you slice it,b
the statistics are downright alarming. The world produces 17% more food than it did 30 yearscago, yet almost half of it never reaches our bellies.d
  2. 2 In a way, it’s a testament tothe incredible progress we’ve achieved as a species by producinge
an overabundanceof food to ensuresurvival. And while we continue to make progress throughtechnology to increase efficiencies in our food system, we’re moving in an unsustainablefdirection, with more and more food being produced while nearly a billion people still don’t have enough to eat.

page1image10533312 page1image10521216

  1. No matter how you slice it – Anyway that you look at it; It’s the same from any perspective
  2. downright alarming– very scary
  3. bellies – stomachs
  4. a testament to– to be evidence for something
  5. an overabundance– more than an abundance; more than a lot; an excess
  6. unsustainable – not sustainable
  1. 3 The most effective way to describe our food waste problem was presented by Tristram Stuart in his viral Ted Talkback in 2012. He assumes that nine slices of bread represent the world’s food supply. Every year, one slice is lost on the farm because of poor handling, lack of sufficient storage, etc. Three slices are fed to animals to produce meat, eggs and cheese. Unfortunately, animals are horribly inefficient when it comes to producing protein, so they replace only onegsliceofbread, andtheothertwosliceswindupaswaste(manure).Thatleavesonlysixslicesof the original nine. Then, we lose two slices to food that ends up in the garbage for various reasons (spoilage, sell-by-date confusion, imperfect appearance, etc.). So in the end, we’re lefthwithfourslicestoconsume.Whatacolossalmess.
  2. 4 What makes this so maddening is that we’re not just wasting food that could end global hunger, but we’re burning up the planet’s resources in the process. In the United States, food productionuses 50% of our land, 30% of all energy resources, and swallows 80% of all freshwater (USDA,i
2016). I was stunnedto discover that food waste is the single largest componentgoing into

jk
municipallandfills, where it emits methane, helping to make landfills the third largest source of

methane in the US. (EPA)
5 Another overlooked aspect of food waste is the opportunity cost. All the labor, water, and

resources used to produce, process, move, package, store, and discard food waste could have

l been used in a multitude of ways that are beneficial to society, while eliminatingthe strain on

our environment. Reducing food losses by just 15 percent would save enough food to feed more than 25 million Americans every year at a time when one in six Americans lack a secure supply of food.

page2image10518912 page2image10518080 page2image10514240

6 So what’s the solution?

The way I see it, we have a number of options to pursue.

m
1. Technology: The food-tech space has been on firelately. The smart minds in silicon

n
valleyandbeyondseethefoodwasteproblemasahugeopportunity.Asaresult,

food-tech raised a record $5.7 billion in ‘15 (CB Insights). Companies like Apeel, Brightfarms, and KDC are providing much needed solutions to cut down on waste and exploitinefficiencies in the system. Amazon just released a new Alexa app ‘save the food.’ Even Anthony Bourdain is getting in on the act with his upcoming documentary on food waste. Fresh food spoilage is a $1 trillion problem (USDA Irrigation and Water Use 2016), and technology has the potential to be a massive influence on reducing that number. If even a quarter of the food currently lost or wasted globally could be saved, it would be enough to feed 870 million hungry people (FAO).

page2image10515776 page2image10513856

g. wind up(v.) – end up; the final result or final destination of something h. colossal (adj.) – very big; enormous; huge
i. stunned (adj.) – shocked; very surprised
j. municipal (adj.) – a city of a town – it refers to a local government

k. methane (n.) – a gas — CH4

l. the strain on(n.) – the demand on; the damage caused to
m. to be on fire(v. phrase) – very excited and/or very productive
n. silicon valley(n. place) – The part of California where most technology companies are.

It’s a synonym for “the technology industry” or “the computer industry.”

2. Food Policy: A depressing amount of food is thrown away because it’s not pretty enough. At the retail level, large quantities of food are wasted due to quality standards

othat over emphasize appearance (up to 1⁄3 of total food waste). Policies enactedto

p
incentivizecompanies and consumers to make use of this produce could go a long

qwaytowardsfixingthis.Inaddition,establishingpoliciesthatcreateuniformstandards

that reduce confusion around sell-by/expiration dates would help too. We also process

way too much food each year. The US has twice the calories needed for it’s population

on store shelves and in restaurants. We simply can’t eat that much. And if wetake into r

accountthe food that’s wasted by feeding it to animals instead of humans, it rises to s

between 300-400%. On average, dinersleave 17 percent of meals uneaten and less than half of that gets taken home for leftovers (NRDC). This is largely a serving size

tu
problem. Installing portion-control lawsand tacklingthe cronyism that leads to

ineffective food policy would help a great deal, though this might be a tough nut to v

crack.
3. Consumer Behavior: Of all the available solutions to address food waste, changing

our eating habits seems to hold the most promise. Here’s why. It turns out that by simply eating certain foods and avoiding others, we can cut down on a significant amount of waste. Did you know that if all of the crop production currently allocatedto animal feed were directly consumed by humans, global food production would increase by some two billion tons and food calories would increase by 49 percent? Animal products require 4 to 40 times the calories to produce than what they provide in nutrition when eaten, mainly due to the crops they consume. Separately, 40 to 60% of fish get discarded at sea after being caught. Most commercial fishingis done primarily with enormousfishing netsthat sweep up everything in their path. For every pound of fish caught, there is up to five pounds of untargeted species trapped that die as a result. If this continues, our oceans will reach its breaking point.

page3image10653248 page3image10653440 page3image10653632

7 Consumer behavior becomes even more important when considering the projections that, w

page3image10654016

barring any shift in diets, worldwide meat consumption could increase 40 percent by 2050. A crucial step in ensuringfood security will be to move away from animal products, thus increasing the efficiency of our food system in terms of calories delivered. A shift from standard to vegetarian diets would have roughly the same impact as eliminatingall retail and consumer level food losses (Faunalytics). Thankfully, we now have companies like Beyond Meat,Daiya and Hampton Creekthat are making it easier to eat sustainably without sacrificing taste.

page3image10654208 page3image10654400 page3image10654592 page3image10654784

  1. policies enacted– “Policies” are laws or initiatives; “Enacted” is the beginning of a reduced adjective clause. It means “policies that have become law;” Here it’s showing why.
  2. incentivize (v.) – to encourage someone to do something (n. – incentives.)
  3. uniform (adj.) – consistent; the same, like uniforms.

r. take into account(v. phrase) – to consider; to look at;
s. diners (n.) – people who eat. It has a long i, so it is not pronounced like dinners. t. portion-control laws– laws that control portion sizes

u. tackling (v. tackle) – to try to solve
v. might be a tough nut to crack(idiom) – might be difficult to do
w. barring any shifts in diet– if we don’t change the way that we eat

8 Final Thoughts

When faced with a challenge, one must utilizeevery tool in the shed. Efforts to reduce food waste through technology and better food policies should be combined with efforts to reduce consumption of animals. Collectively, this would mean significant reductions in the carbon footprint of our food system and help to end world hunger. And these opportunities do not require increased yields or serious shifts in production practices. Largely, they depend on improved consumer behaviors. So let’s start changing our diets today. We’ve got no time to waste.
