The purpose of this assignment is to evaluate the steps of hypothesis testing.

Hypothesis testing is a central component in understanding and interpreting public health research. Research questions are applied through a testable hypothesis established before the data is collected. It provides the rationale for the study and guides the researcher in what tests to use and how to interpret the results.

Identify a peer-reviewed article from one of the data sources available on the “Data Resource Document.” You will need to visit the various websites listed on the document to search for a research article that is of interest to you. Include the link to the selected article in a 750-1,000 word summary that address the following as it relates to the article.

1. What test statistic did the researchers use? What did the authors set as the significance level of the test statistic?
2. What was the null hypothesis? What was the alternative hypothesis? Were these clearly stated in the article, or did you have to extrapolate based on the background in the article?
3. Discuss potential bias that may have resulted from the study design and data collection that could have affected the validity of the test.
4. Summarize the story told by the data used in this study as it applies to the larger population
5. Comment on whether the authors used the interpretation approach discussed in the textbook, including (a) summarize why the study was done, (b) discuss the factual results, (c) explain what the results mean, and (d) make suggestions for future research.

For this topic in your initial post, summarize how the respective political economic school of thought perceives the issue (chosen from one of the issues from Chapters 7-9) and consider current policies (not limited to the United States BUT you must be able to cite a source in all cases) within Lowi’s typology (distributive, regulatory, self-regulatory, and distributive). List one policy for each category although if you cannot think of a self-regulatory policy that is fine. Remember that the policies listed MUST be consistent with the political economic theory. NOTE: Since the typology was developed using modern liberal/conservative policies for the most part you could include contemporary policies that radicalism would be opposed to but you would need to clarify why. You must also reply to at least one of your peers’ posts with two suggestions of other policies that could fit within two different categories of Lowi’s typology (at least 2 replies per discussion needed for (but does not guarantee) full credit but it cannot be repeats of the same posts), providing reasons (and cites) as to why each respective policy would fit within the policy classification as well as replying to your peers’ responses to your initial post and whether you agree with their suggestions and why.

Assignment: Global Healthcare Comparison Matrix and Narrative Statement

Note: This Assignment is due on Day 5 of Week 11.

If you talk about a possible poor health outcome, do you believe that outcome will occur? Do you believe eye contact and personal contact should be avoided?

You would have a difficult time practicing as a nurse if you believed these to be true. But they are very real beliefs in some cultures.

Differences in cultural beliefs, subcultures, religion, ethnic customs, dietary customs, language, and a host of other factors contribute to the complex environment that surrounds global healthcare issues. Failure to understand and account for these differences can create a gulf between practitioners and the public they serve.

In this Assignment, you will examine a global health issue and consider the approach to this issue by the United States and by one other country.

Part 1: Global Health Comparison Matrix

Focusing on the country you selected and the U.S., complete the Global Health Comparison Matrix. Be sure to address the following:

• Consider the U.S. national/federal health policies that have been adapted for the global health issue you selected from the WHO global health agenda. Compare these policies to the additional country you selected for study.
• Explain the strengths and weaknesses of each policy.
• Explain how the social determinants of health may impact the global health issue you selected. Be specific and provide examples.
• Using the WHO’s Organization’s global health agenda as well as the results of your own research, analyze how each country’s government addresses cost, quality, and access to the global health issue selected.

Throughout this course, you were presented with concepts and situations that illustrated the variables that relate to conflict, the processes of managing conflict, and the contextual factors that shape and define conflict in an organizational setting. The assignments thus far have also assessed our knowledge as well as your disposition toward managing conflict.
Now, for this last assignment, I would like you to pull it all together and apply the knowledge you have gained. To do this, you will first review a scenario that is commonly encountered in the workplace, and then demonstrate your conflict management ability by responding to several questions that relate to the general conflict management process. (You may also need to apply your knowledge from previous management courses).

Scenario:
Anne has been an hourly employee at OMS Corporation for 2 years, and has really enjoyed her job and working for the company. She wasn’t sure what her career plans were at first, but now she feels that she would like to build her career with this company and work her way up to a salaried position. Her sense of commitment has also increased which has motivated her to do the best job she can. As such, she wants to show her manager that she is willing to assume greater responsibilities and duties as well as work a flexible schedule in order to make sure the job gets done. To accomplish this, during her annual performance review meeting (where she was rated highly) she took the opportunity to ask her supervisor that she be assigned more challenging projects.
Soon, her work load had noticeably increased, and she was enjoying using her skills to meet new and more challenging project deadlines. However, due to the increased demand on her time, she has begun to work through lunch and even some of her breaks in order to make sure she doesn’t miss any deadlines. After some time, her supervisor, Sarah, (who is out of town) asks her via email to immediately stop working through her lunches and breaks, and reassigns some of the new projects to other employees. She also asks to meet Anne to discuss the situation as soon as she returns.
