First
In the reading “African Folklore and Music Communities” it starts off by the author Steve Savage talking about his time that he spent studying with the master drummer Kwaku Dadey from Ghana who lives in San Francisco CA. The main point of this type of drumming is explained by Savage when he says, “This music is part of the West African storytelling practice in which the drum pattern is linked to lyrics, in effect telling the story through the drumming” (Savage 129). This component of music is similar in many other religions, for example in Catholicism during mass the people and clergy sing songs about many parts of their religion. The piano is also a large part of the singing much like the drums in this west African religion. As the article goes on Savage talks about constructing a song in the traditional manor that Dadey taught him. With the construction of this new song, he wanted to tell the story of “Milee Yookoee” a west African folktale. He began explaining his process with, “The fundamental rhythmic underpinning involves the subdivision of a basic pulse by three imposed over a subdivision by two: this is technically called hemiola but generally referred to as “three against two” in musician’s vernacular” (Savage 130). After he created this rhythmic underpinning he added to it making sound more western and then moved on to the rhythm. For the rhythm he used a pattern that he had learned from Dadey, and with that he had all of the pieces to create his song. After he took samples from his own drum kit and mathematically placed the notes in their proper positions he had finished his contribution to the new song. The next piece of the puzzle was to find samples of accompanying rhythms and to create the percussion phrases. Savage found the accompanying rhythms on “websites that offer royalty-free samples” meaning there is no copy right on the samples. He then began to stretch and shrink different parts of the music to ensure that the pieces of music that he wanted to use would fit together perfectly in the traditional west African fashion. With that Savage was able to create his own telling of the traditional story “Milee Yookoee”.
Second
From the provided passage “Application Study: African Folklore and Music Communities”, the author Steve Savage discusses African music. He not only talks about African music in general but he goes into detail and specific examples that show his readers why and how they make music. The musical experience is related to culture and social lifestyles. African music is historically important to the culture nature of musical experience. Savage tells us that history is very important to making African music, as their music contains creativity and historical expressions. Savage points out “the relationship between art and technology is primarily a social process, a cultural dynamic”. The traditions of the African culture reflect on the rhythmic expression in their songs. The historic tradition of African music are important to making them, music is deeply carved in the structure and function of African folkloric culture. Musical activity intentions circle around the practicality of functions. Amiri Baraka describes these functions as “consisting of many of the most essential human activities, including courtship, labor, rites of passage, spiritual pursuits, battle, and so on”. When making African music, they are very expressive especially when it comes to audio. These expressive elements include cries, hollers, hums, moans, grunts, hand-clapping, foot-patting and more. The author, Steve Savage, did a study with a guy named Kwaku Dadey. He is from Ghana and is a master drummer. After his study, Savage wanted to make his own African music piece. He tells his readers that the biggest things about African music is the drum, the drum is everything, everything follows the drum. First he had to determine the fundamental rhythmic underpinning, Savage chose hemiola or “three against two”. Then he made an outlining. Third and one of the most important factors is choosing your storyline. From there on you twick the song as you would like. Savage made his tempo slower. As he walked his readers through the process, it makes them realize how much goes into a song. African music is filled with culture and tradition, that is what makes it their’s. African music has wisdom along with a social code and is one of the most community filled pieces in African history.
Third
In this passage, ” Application Study: African Folklore and music communities” By Steve Savage talks about African Music. In general, He discusses Africa music. What he also talks about is specific details and shows us as readers why African Music is important to learn and listen too. The author, Steve Savage, did a study on a guy named Kwaku Dadey, who is a master drummer from Ghana. He lives and teaches in the San Fransisco bay area. While studying different pieces, Steve became interested in transcribing them. Savage chose the ” three against two” which is also called hemiola. The most important factor is picking your storyline. As he is telling us how to make a song, I realized how much process goes into a song. What makes it theirs is culture and tradition. It is one of the most community filled pieces in African History. ” The essence of a musical experience is inevitably tied to social and cultural integration” (savage 132) Musical experience is historically important to the culture. History is very important to making African Music, their music brings out creative and historical expressions. The individual piece of music may be experienced differently by different people. ” the musician and the tools of creativity, where we find the intersection of the human and technical in that pursuit of creative expression; and the experience of music as taking an active role in the construction of society and culture. ” ( savage 132). The traditions of African Culture reflect on the rhythm expressions in their music, It is deeply important to them because the music involves African folklore culture or stories. As Christopher Smalls explains, ” African music is not set apart in any way from everyday life but is an integral and essential part of it, and plays an important role in all aspects of social interaction and individual self-realization.” ( savage 134). The intention of musical activity revolves around the practice of functions. These functions are consisting of essential human activities. This is an indication that music is very important to African Culture. It not only brings an individual joy but many others too.

J.G. is a nurse practitioner working in a health clinic. Her clinic provides care to a majority of Hispanic migrant farmworkers during the summer months. Farmworkers in the area are susceptible to health problems because they are in a low-income bracket and may be exposed to unsanitary working and housing conditions. The workers do not tend to seek preventive care because of finances, transportation, and fear of deportation in many instances. She struggles with the delivery of fragmented services within the migrant community because individuals move around frequently. In her encounters with the patients she serves, she has to stress early the importance of screening and follow-up care. She must also carefully assess the level of health literacy when providing education. In addition, She remains culturally sensitive to the beliefs and practices of the population she serves. |
K.Y. is an employee-health nurse practitioner for a large corporation. Her role is to advocate for her clients by helping them improve their quality of life, both for the present and the future, through the identification of risk factors, health promotion, and other nursing interventions. The majority of the employees She sees are middle-age adults. Her clients come to see her for a variety of reasons, including stress, mental illness, and on-the-job injuries. K.Y. assists her clients by providing education about healthy lifestyle choices, referrals to community resources, and counseling. |
R.K. is a home health nurse practitioner who delivers primary care to a predominantly Medicare population. The role of the home health nurse practitioner is to provide assessments to individuals inclusive of the environment, provide direct skilled care and treatment, and provide education and referrals as needed. He must work closely with the patient and his or her caregiver in trying to prevent complications of illness. R.K. specializes in providing wound care services in the home. He visits many diabetic patients living in a senior community. These patients are considered to be homebound and use wheelchairs or walkers to reach the common dining room where meals are served every evening. He is interested in assessing the nutritional content of the meals that are served. |
Questions for the case |
Create a list of health hazards associated with the migrant population in general and the one referred on the case. Which would be your recommendations to the migrant population to prevent injuries related to those hazards and how to improve their health. |
Make a summary of the typical biological changes in the middle-age adult. |
Create a list of recommendations of major activities older adults can engage in to promote health and prevent frailty. |
Once you received your case number; answer the specific question on the table above. Then, continue to discuss the 3 topics listed below for your case:
- Discuss how you would advise young adults in selecting contraceptive methods. Do you have any personal, religious reservations, or discomforts that would interfere with your ability to advise clients and ask them how they would address these personal conflicts?
- Have students develop a smoking cessation plan for a client.
- Evaluate the impact of poverty on older adults. Make sure to include the impact on their physical and mental health and health promotion recommendations.
Submission Instructions:
- Your instructor will assign you your case number and you will post on the case number you have been assigned.
- You will reply to the other two case studies (One of each).
- Your initial post should be at least 500 words, formatted and cited in current APA style with support from at least 2 academic sources. Your initial post is worth 8 points.

Two late state terminal drug addicts sat up against an ally’s wall with nothing to inject and no means of nowhere to go or be. Only one had a coat. It was cold, and on of the terminal drug addicts’ teeth chattered and he sweated and shook with fever. He seemed gravely ill. He smelled very bad. He sat up against the wall with his head on his knees. This took place in Cambridge MA in an ally behind the Commonwealth Aluminum can Redemption Center on Massachusetts Avenue in the early hours of 12 January 1993. The terminal drug addict with the coat took off the coat and scooted over up close to the gravely ill terminal drug addict and took and spread the coat as far as it would go over the both of them and then scooted over some more and got himself pressed right up against him and put his arm around him and let him be sick on his arm, and they stayed like that up against the wall together all through the night.

University of South Florida Engage and Present Data Project Writing Assignment Help
this project asks you to engage with data, present data for a specific audience (your classmates), and practice making effective data visualizations. The project focuses on:
- the fair, accurate, and ethical use of data
- the conventions of writing with numbers and data
- how to integrate figures into a document
- how to design effective visualizations.
As you will learn in completing this project, numbers don’t speak for themselves, and writing with data requires critical and rhetorical thought, as well as visual design skills.
In working on this project, you will engage with different types of visuals, as well as the conventions of writing with data and numbers. To achieve these goals, you will select one of the data sets listed below. After reviewing the data set you select, you will decide on a point you want to make using the data in your data set. Then, since you can’t visualize all the data in your data set, you will make decisions about which data to visualize. Using the data you have selected, you will create three data visualizations to help you make your point. Then you will write about and analyze that data in a brief visual report. The final visual report you create will include the three visuals you have made, and the supporting text necessary to explain the data you have visualized and make your point.
In addition to the visual report, you also will create a second deliverable. You will compose a reflective memo that explains your choices and goals, and how the visual report deliverable achieves them.
Use your the textbook chapter on Visual Design to help you design and write about your visuals. Additionally, you may wish to use this Periodic Table of Visualization Methods (Links to an external site.) to explore various types and uses of visuals.
Data visualizations bring a number of benefits to any professional document, even short ones:
- Though they have become extremely easy to make, people in the workplace still tend to be impressed by the extra effort and thoughtful presentation implicit in making a visualization.
- Data visualizations also help to make the work of digesting and interpreting data more efficient by displaying trends or illustrating the significance of specific information without poring over page after page of numbers.
- Because of this efficiency, visual elements are also better at communicating certain ideas more quickly than words or tabular data. Something that may take many sentences to communicate, a sudden drop in the efficiency of a process, or a surge in sales among a certain demographic, are instantly recognizable as spikes or dips along the X axis of a line graph.
For example:
This short report from the Department of Education (Links to an external site.) provides an overview of literacy and numeracy for men and women. In this online short report, the authors created two bar charts that are designed to show relationships between data and then they briefly explain the importance of the data.
However, as previously mentioned, numbers don’t speak for themselves. Integrating visuals comes with all the benefits listed above, but using visuals also comes with responsibility to use visuals fairly and justly. Visuals reduce people to numbers, to data, and then, by making a visual using some data but not other data, you make some people more significant than others. Your visuals represent a choice to emphasize some facts, and, in so doing, deemphasize others. Your visuals must be complete and accurate, but also fair and just. When you create your visuals, you should start with questions such as, “Am I representing the data accurately?” and also, “Am I representing the data fully and in a way that does no harm to certain groups?”
In your visual report, you will create three visualizations and integrate them into your report, providing an introduction to the topic and analysis of the data you include to make a point about the topic using your data.
Assignment
For this project, you will select a data set from the ones listed below and create a short informational report that includes at least three data visualizations that you create. In your visuals, you will communicate the data you select from your data set in a form that maximizes the impact of the data. Your report should be designed for an audience of your classmates and an informative purpose.
To create your visualizations and informational report, select one of the following data sets:
Once you have selected a data set, spend some time with the data. Identify the trends that jump out at you as most significant. Your audience is your classmates, so think about what you want them to know and how best to visualize the data for them. You will not be able to visualize or discuss all the data in your data set. Your job is to select and visualize the data that is most relevant to your audience and the point you are making.
Deliverables
Document 1: Visual, Informational Report
A one-page, informative, visually interesting report that makes a point about your subject using the data in your data set. This report should incorporate three visuals that you have created along with a discussion/analysis of the data in your figures. The text in your report should
- introduce the topic and its importance
- explain the meaning of the visuals
- point to the conclusions suggested by the data.
Your audience is your classmates. Your understanding of the audience informs how the data is presented, the form the visualizations take, and the point you use the data to make, as well as the overall informative purpose of the document.
%%%Document 2: Reflective Analysis
A short 250- to 500-word memo that explains the following (use headings to identify each of the topics listed below):
- How and why you selected your data set
- How you selected which data to visualize and why you visualized it in the form you did
- What decisions you made to tailor your report to your audience and your purpose
- How you ensured that your visualizations of the data were fair, accurate, and clear
((( important )))
After reading the guidelines for Project 2 (M2 Information Design Project Instructions), choose one of the data sets listed in the instructions. Once you have selected the data set you want to work with for Project 2 and decided on a point you want to make using that data, submit the following:
