Post1:

“High-profile mass shootings in the U.S. in the recent years have
rekindled the gun control debate and raised comparisons between U.S. gun
control policies and global gun control policies. Gun control laws in
the U.S. are ineffective, as they are telling of the relationship and
vast influence the National Rifle Association (NRA) has on legislative
entities, such as the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). The
U.S. Supreme Court has upheld some firearms restrictions to include bans
on concealed weapons and the possession of certain types of weapons, as
well as the prohibitions against the sale of guns to certain people.
The Gun Control Act of 1968 prohibits individuals under the age of 18,
convicted criminals, the mentally disabled, dishonorably discharged
military personnel, and others from purchasing firearms. The 1993 Brady
Handgun Violence Prevention Act, mandated background checks for all
unlicensed individuals purchasing a firearm from a federally authorized
dealer. However, the U.S. Supreme Court has rolled back certain gun
laws. In District of Columbia v. Heller, the court struck
down a Washington, DC law that banned handguns. The tragedy that
occurred in Newtown, CT in 2012 prompted a new national discussion about
gun lawns, however legislation that would have banned semi-automatic
assault weapons was defeated in the Senate despite extensive public
support. Compared to selected countries, the U.S. sports a vastly
greater amount of gun ownership. In the U.S., there are 120
civlian-owned guns per 100 people (Masters, 2019). In Canada that number
is less than 40 civilian owned guns per 100 people, Norway at 30,
Australia less than 20, Isreal, less than 10, and Japan very little over
0. Gun homicides in the U.S. per 100,000 stands at a whopping 4 in
comparison to Israel 1, Canada .5, with the remainder of the countries
tapering off from there (Masters, 2019). These statistics indicate there
is so viable correlation between increased gun ownership visible in the
U.S. with gun violence. The U.S. has less than 5 percent of the world’s
population, and has about 46 percent of the world’s civilian owned guns
(Masters, 2019). In 2019, there were no federal laws banning
semiautomatic weapons, military-style .50 caliber rifles, handguns, or
large capacity magazines. This comes on the heels of 417 mass shootings
that occurred in the U.S. by the end of 2019, according from the
nonprofit, Gun Violence Archive (GVA), which tracks mass shootings in
the country, GVA defines mass shootings as any incident in which at
least 4 people are shot, excluding the shooter. These statistics make it
evident that U.S. laws surrounding gun control are ineffective and
serve the goals and interests of organizations such as the NRA.

Post 2:

“The debate over gun control is an ongoing issue in the United States
and it is one that will most likely continue for years to come. The
debate over gun control has also included arguments over the meaning of
the Second Amendment, the right to keep and bear arms. The citizens that
choose to exercise their right to keep and bear arms should absolutely
do so as long as they can do so legally and responsibly.

First and foremost, the great amount of responsibility that comes
with owning any number of firearms needs to be understood before a
purchase is even made. Responsibility of gun ownership includes
knowledge of existing federal and state laws pertaining to firearms. A
person has the duty to know where and how a firearm is allowed to be
possessed or carried, as ignorance to the law is not an excuse. Another
obligation a gun owner has, especially for those that have never owned
one, is knowing how to safely handle, operate, and store the firearm.
These are important measures that need to be taken seriously as a way of
preventing accidents involving a gun or a gun ending up in the wrong
hands.

Federal and state laws are in place to prohibit firearms from being
carried in or about certain places in addition to who cannot purchase or
possess firearms. Under the law, those that cannot legally possess a
firearm are identified as convicted of felons, some misdemeanor
convictions involving assault or domestic abuse, and in some
circumstances a respondent of an order of protection. Others that cannot
possess guns are those that have been deemed by a doctor as mentally
unstable; however, this does not automatically include those that have a
mental health diagnosis.

With that said, do firearms end up in the hands of those that are
prohibited from possessing them, yes. Will those that illegally possess a
gun use it to carry out a crime, possibly. This does not mean that
those who are convicted criminals or declared mentally unstable are the
only people responsible for gun violence, legal gun owners are capable
too.

Guns are out there and a person that wants one bad enough will find a
way to get one. They may do this by stealing guns while committing
other crimes, purchase one off the streets, the black market, or even
through a straw purchase. Further gun control measures are not going to
stop this from happening. Research by two criminologists, Professor Don
Kates and Professor Gary Mauser, shows there is no correlation between
gun ownership and gun violence (Harvard study: Gun control is
counterproductive, n.d.). Kates and Mauser are not supporters of guns,
but through there research they did conclude that gun control is not
effective because there no evidence to support murder or violent crime
rates will decrease nor is there evidence that gun ownership lowers
crime rates (Harvard study: Gun control is counterproductive, n.d.).”

Feedback from last homework question: Look at your first paragraph. You waited until the end of that paragraph to place a citation. Problem: How am I to know which of the words go with that citation? If you are covering all the words then that is also a problem as we want to avoid long quotes or paraphrases. You did the exact same for the 2nd paragraph. I’m not sure how to suggest correcting this.

WRIT 381A State University of New York Dulce Delights & Barbecue Essays Writing Assignment Help

Attached is the Guidelines for Peer Reviewing the review, which you should read first in order to engage in a rigorous session of workshopping the papers you’re assigned, along with two student papers to peer review. Remember that tactful criticism based upon the assignment overview and rubric, and your growing understanding of this genre developed through the craft and sample readings, should dominate your feedback with only brief discussion of the reviews’ positive points.

Please use Word’s Review Tool to leave marginal comments and suggestions for improvement, along with an end note summarizing your big picture advice related to content and organization, complete the peer reviewing.

Review Peer Review Guidelines

Steps: 1) Read the assignment overview for the Review and your annotations for the craft readings so these are fresh in your mind. 2) Read the student’s review straight through once then, read it again with an eye toward making observations and suggestions for improvement based on the questions below and your growing knowledge of this genre. 3) Start offering comments and suggestions for improvement. While it’s good to briefly compliment the piece in your 250-word response and in the marginal notes using Word’s Review Tool, it’s much more important to offer tactful suggestions for improvement. This is what I look for when I grade your peer reviewing efforts.

Content-Related Items:

1.Does the writer have a primary stance or verdict running through the piece?

2.How do they try to persuade you their stance/verdict is valid, what type of evidence do they provide? How might they make the writing more convincing?

3.Does the writer create engaging descriptions that use concrete sensory details so the reader can visualize what they’re reviewing? Is there sufficient details and where might these be added? In all good writing, the more specific the writing, the more persuasive it is. So where is the writer being vague when they need to be more specific?

4.When does the writer give the reader their stance? Is it too soon or too late?

5.Where might the writer dig more deeply to find a greater significance or meaning in their analysis of the recipe/restaurant/product/etc for their review?

6.Does the writer give you information you need when you need it?

7.How do you perceive the “narrator” (aka, the writer) of the piece? Are they relatable, likeable, convincing, fair or biased, unpersuasive, biting? Tone is created via word choice and that can have a big influence on how much you’re persuaded becuae the more you like a narrator/writer, the more you’ll trust them. Where might the writer develop their ethos/crediblity?

Organization-Related Items:

8.How does the writer begin? Does it open with a description or with telling us something? Does it intrigue you and open with engaging, vivid, specific, and concrete sensory details?

9.How does the writer link the parts of the piece? Look at how paragraphs begin and end. Is each paragraph focused on doing one thing? If not, how might the paragraphs become more focused?

10. What is the relationship between conclusion and introduction of the piece?

Style and Mechanics-Related Items:

11. Note features of language such as similes, metaphors and analogies, the choice of verbs and specific concrete sensory details. Where could there be more to make the writing more vivid and engaging?

Rasmussen College Plan for Managing Operational Failures Discussion Business Finance Assignment Help

Competency

Evaluate the components of operational risk and the application of corresponding risk management plans.

Instructions

LTD Acceptance is a private property and auto insurance carrier that specializes in sports cars and motorcycles. This organization is owned by LTD Capital, a large equity group with over 15 holdings. LTD Acceptance is the parent company’s single largest holding as it drives 70% of total revenue. Due to the inherent risk involved in that segment of the market, many of LTD Acceptance’s competitors do not offer policies for sports cars or motorcycles. This market segment is underserved which is why the organization has 20,000 active policies for a sports car or a motorcycle.

LTD is headquartered in Houston, TX. LTD does not sell insurance directly to the public. Instead, it uses third-party agents to sell its policies. LTD handles all customer service needs including claims intake, policy services, and general questions. The company operates in four states: California, Texas, Louisiana, and Florida. Currently, LTD does not have an active system in place to ensure that its agents are in fact using LTD guidelines to screen potential policyholders. However, no evidence of negligence has emerged so far as the organization has yet to have a year in which it was not profitable. LTD has also had the good fortune of not suffering losses because of natural disasters or catastrophic events.

Organizations in every sector experience breakdowns or failures that compromise the efficiency and efficacy of their operations. This concept is defined as an operational failure. Operational failures have a direct and adverse impact on profitability. As such, the shareholders want assurance that the risk management team is actively working on mitigating the occurrence of these failures. As the newly hired senior risk analyst, you are responsible for outlining a plan to do just that.
For this deliverable, provide a report to your supervisor which provides a framework for managing operational risk exposures. Your report should include the following:

  • Explain why the operational losses cannot be broadly managed. Why do they have to be categorized?
  • For each operational risk exposure listed below, provide at least two examples of potential losses from the exposure and reasons why you need to manage it.
    • Internal fraud
    • External fraud
    • Employment practices and workplace safety
    • Clients, products, and business practices
    • Damage to physical assets
    • Business disruption and system failures

Your conclusion should align the effective management of operational risk exposures with organizational effectiveness.
The format for your report should be in the business, professional style. For help with this format, please click here.
