People around the world enjoy going to fast-food restaurants and not only given an alternative food option but having a positive food experience. Other fast foods establishments serve only chicken such as Popeyes and Kentucky fried chicken. However, these companies don’t cater to a health conscious customer making Chick-fil-a dominate in its market.
*Target is a company that stands out the most among its competitors. Its considered the most recognizable , with its signature symbol, the bullseye, and the mascot dog in red, which makes it’s identifiable to the customer. Target has been able to brand itself to stand alone from its competition. You are setting the bar high when it comes to shopping at discounted stores without feeling as if your at a discount store. Target has a rumarket focused on young families and is not trying to be all things to everybody. They have a particular market that they focus on and serve. Over the past years, Target has been able to launch its namesake brands, which include fashion and home products. If Target can stay on this path of focusing on its target audience and expanding its brand, it can outlast its competition.

Three brands that use their brands for a competitive advantage and I expect to continue doing so in the 21st century are:
1. Apple: Apple is globally known as the major player in cell phones and other personal computing devices. They have created a strong, desirable brand that has customers clamoring to pre-order of new generations. While this drives a huge amount of sales for the company, this product line has been overtaken by Apple’s service endeavors. Among their service lines are their app store and amazon music. Combine these two with apple tv and other service endeavors it is easy to see that they are positioning themselves to lead the market in hardware and service technology (1).
2. Disney – 2022 will be Disney’s 100th year in business and they have grown and embraced trends in the entertainment and supporting businesses in a major way. Theme parks and resorts are strategically located across the globe to provide fun and entertainment to all. They have done extensive mergers and acquisitions as well incorporating ABC network, Hulu, ESPN, Pixar, Disney Publishing, Vacation Clubs and the list could go on and on. While all these vertical lines of business relate to the core mission of the parent company. This is why I believe they will remain not only relevant but thriving in the 21st Century. It is their embrace of new ideas and foresight in staying in tune with customers’ desires.
3. BMW – Having over a 100-year history already, BMW has a strong brand name that many equate with luxury and status. BMW proved in the early years that they were adaptable when after WW l they were not allowed to manufacture cars. Instead of folding, they restrategized and went into other forms of transportation that were powered by motors, like railroads. Eventually, they were able to launch racing cars, motorcycles though which they established themselves firmly in the market. Fast forward to today and BMW is coveted globally and they have diversified into luxury motor yachting sport, golfing sports, motor sports and adventure sports. They utilize the term sport in many of their product category to highlight their founding, after all the M in BMW stands for motorsports.
These brands do a great job utilizing the internet already. They should continue to make sure that they stay not only current but ahead of the curve when it comes to security issues and their on-line presence. Protecting proprietary information both internally and externally (customer) is going to be even more critical as advances in the internet evolve. Also using AI in ways to target prospects will be an easy way for them all to meet and exceed fiscal financial targets.
