Prepare a 3–5 page presentation on the causes of depression in which you analyze two different perspectives on the causes of depression. Determine which perspective makes the most compelling argument and explain what makes it more compelling.

Preparation

Suppose you work as a counselor in a crisis center. The agency for which you work tries to offer informational sessions presented by staff members on a regular basis. You have been asked to present at the next session, and your topic is the causes of depression. You must decide if you believe the causes of depression stem from biological factors or from cognitive-behavioral factors, present your perspective (either biological or cognitive-behavioral), your position, and provide evidence-based arguments to support your position.

To prepare for this, research the causes of depression that have been presented by experts. Links to several Web sites dedicated to the study of depression have been provided in the Suggested Resources for this assessment, along with a list of journal articles (Causes of Depression Resource List). Based on this research, decide which perspective you believe makes the most compelling argument.

In the Capella library, locate at least four peer-reviewed articles that support your position. You may use two of the articles from the resource list provided, but at least two additional resources must come from your own research.

In the real world, this type of presentation would likely use PowerPoint or a similar type of technology; however, for this assessment, format your presentation following APA guidelines. This gives you more practice and experience with the professional writing style of the field of psychology.

To help you organize your work, you may consider using the “Causes of Depression Analysis Worksheet” provided in the resources. Do not submit the worksheet as your assessment or with your assessment; this is provided solely to assist you in organizing and writing your assessment.

Requirements

Prepare a 3–5 page presentation on the causes of depression in which you first identify the perspective you have chosen, and then:

  • Analyze the research that caused you to choose the perspective you did.
    • Explain the main arguments presented in the research.
    • Describe the evidence used in the research to support the main arguments. In other words, what evidence did the researchers use to support their perspective?
    • Identify any assumptions made by the researchers.
    • Describe the conclusions or findings of the research.
  • Explain how the research findings might influence the way psychology professionals view depression. Be sure you consider both accepting and rejecting the findings.
  • Support your position with credible, scholarly information.

Additional Requirements

  • Include a title page and reference page.
  • Number of pages: 3–5, not including the title page and reference page.
  • At least four current scholarly or professional resources.
  • APA format.
  • Times New Roman font, 12 pt.

What are implications of ethical decisions?, homework help Business Finance Assignment Help

It was first year of college teaching, and there was no summer teaching assignments for new hires. But the university was kind enough to steer him to an aviation firm, Avionics Inc., which needed help creating an organizational assessment survey. The assignment was to last five weeks, but it paid about the same as teaching all summer. The work was just about as perfect as it gets for an organizational behavior specialist.

Avionics Inc.’s vice president, whom he met the first day, was cordial and smooth. The researcher would report to a senior manager who was coordinating the project with the human resources and legal departments.

It was soon apparent that the 25-year history of Avionics Inc., there had never been an employee survey. This was understandable given management’s lack of concern for employee complaints.Working conditions had deteriorated without management intervention, and government inspectors counted the number of heads down at desks as an index of performance. To make matters work, the engineers were so disgruntled that word of unionization had spread like wild fire.A serious organizing effort was planned before the VP could approve the survey.

Headquarters dispatched nervous staffers to monitor the situation and generally involve themselves with every aspect of the questionnaire.Shadowed, the young researcher began to feel apprehension turn to paranoia. He consoled himself, however, with the goodwill of 500 enthusiastic, cooperative employees who had pinned their hopes for a better working environment to the results of this project.

The data collection was textbook perfect. No one had asked to preview the findings or had shown any particular interest. In the fifth week, he boarded the corporate jet with the VP and senior manager to make a presentation at headquarters.Participants at the headquarters location were invited to attend.Management was intent on heading off unionization by showing its confidence in the isolated nature of “a few engineers’ complaints”.They had also promised to engage the participants in action planning over the next few days.

An hour in the flight, the Avionics Inc. VP turned from his reading to the young researcher and said, “We have seen your results, you know. And we would like you to change two key findings. They are not all that critical to this round of fixing the ‘bone orchard,’ and you’ll have another crack at it as a real consultant in the fall.”

“But that would mean breaking faith with your employees….people who trusted me to present the results objectively. It’s what I thought you wanted….”

“Yes, well, look at it this way,” replied the VP. “All of your findings we can live with except these two. They’re an embarrassment to senior management.Let me put it plainly. We have government contracts into the foreseeable future. You could retire early with consulting income from this place.Someone will meet us on the runway with new slides. What do you say?”

  1. What are the most prudent decisions Avionics Inc. can make about its responsibilities to itself and others?
  2. What are the implications of those decisions even if there is no violation of law or regulation?

most people have great ideas but don’t get things done, homework help Business Finance Assignment Help

1. I really liked how he started with “most people have great ideas but don’t get things done”. I completely understand that because most people get so wrapped up in the ideas of things but can’t move past the ideas. I also really liked how right off the back he makes the difference of a leader and a manager. Any one going into business should know the difference. I have taken a few Clark classes and he drills into your head that leaders choose the vision and managers decide how to make it happen. I was excited to see that this presentation used the same concept. The guy also brought up that if you are not doing mass production then you are doing a “project”. Along with that, 90% of the world is projects and that means that 90% of the world is unhappy. I can relate to that because people don’t like uncertainty and try to avoid those kind of situations. “Never allow the important become urgency” was a quote I really liked during the presentation. I do that all the time when I’m working on multiple projects at a time. If I follow that quote I would surely have a better output. I would also have to agree with the idea that a skinny project is better. Fat projects incorporate a lot of steps, people, and usually are more complicated on finishing. The Plotting Buffer was my biggest take away from this presentation. Its a very interesting concept to have employees that are only used to help projects if they become in the red zone. That is the only thing they are used for, which I find very interesting because I can’t see many companies liking that idea or being able to afford employees that sit most of the day. If they can afford to have “resource bench” employees I can see it being very beneficial for them though.

2. I liked off the bat the quote he said, “If you have great ideas but don’t get anything done, then what have you done?” He says that his target is a world of people who need to get things done but don’t. To identify who are the people that need to get things done we need to know the roles in an organization. The roles in organization: leadership who set the vision, workers who actually make the things happen, and management who decide what and when to do things. From there are many directions that we can do in order to find a solution but the one I found most important from this video and the other videos we watched is knowing what to worry about. It seems like identifying out what the priority is and what can wait is very important in management. I was very surprised when he said that 90% of the project world doesn’t use project tools. They have these tools available to them but they don’t utilize them. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t want to access this if it will make the project easier. When he was going over potential solutions he made mention they had a separate task of people who worked on problems that occur within the project. It reminded me of when Toyota was very successful. They had a task force that was set up to find problems before they happened. Once they removed that task force they had many issues within the company and started to fail. Similar to the people they have getting people out of “the red” or SWOT team. They are able to identify the problems and where they can improve. Seeing that other companies and even this speaker thinks having people to identify problems reinforces this is a good idea to have for a business.

You’ve spent some time wrestling with procuring tractors for the fair and trying to knock so, homework help Mathematics Assignment Help

Task 3

You’ve spent some time wrestling with procuring tractors for the fair and trying to knock some sense into your food vendors, but now it’s time to start figuring out how everything goes together.

from Epigogy.org on Vimeo.

Measurements are a big deal in the fair, as they are in every day life. Are the power cables long enough to reach the vendors? Do the vendors have enough supplies? How big is the tent for the performers going to be, and is there enough space for it? We bought this stuff on the cheap, but it’s not even in normal measurements!

In this module, you will be working on how we use weights and measurements, and how can they be converted into other units of measurement.

Download the Module 3 Instructions. You will use these for the Lesson.

Work through the LYNDA tutorial Everyday Math Fundamentals Part 6

  1. Area and perimeter
  2. Volume

Watch the Khan Video, The Basics of Area, Perimeter

Now that you have the major concession areas identified, it is time to decide how many vendors you can accept and how much room you will give each. For this task you can choose to focus on the food vendors or the game vendors. Make a plan for how you will determine how much room each will need and how many the space you previously designated for this category of concession will hold.
