Allow me to compliment and complement what you shared with a few additional perspectives. To sum up what you have said and ADD to it, I concur that “a company should do no harm”. This is where a company Code of Ethics should help to communicate this critical message. Stephen, I am wondering if Volkswagen has one of these????
Your instructor would submit that the ultimate responsibility for ensuring an ethical environment and understanding begins at the very top of the company organization. Too many companies, however, give ethics “lip service”.
There’s that matter of a written Code of Ethics that is made available to all. Some companies have that “Code of Ethics”… others don’t have one… and others have one, but it is all fluff and words. Again, I call it “lip service.”
What happens at the company may also be interesting. To wit, take a look at what happens at YOUR company. Which of the following best describes what happens at YOUR place of employment to new employees when it comes to YOUR company’s practices that trumpet the importance of ethical business practices? What was your experience when you arrived were you to select one of the three below?
a) Those who join the company receive a thorough indoctrination on ethics and how it applies to the company. You receive a “Code of Ethics” booklet. You are actually TESTED on your application of the “Code of Ethics” to that which you do professionally. The company reinforces the message, as does your manager. Each year, you undergo “refresher” training and testing. Senior management makes it very clear that being “above board” is the only acceptable way to go.b) You are handed a “Code of Ethics” (or you are not handed it, as one does not exist). If the former, you are asked to sign that you have “read” it and “understand” it.
c) A mixture of each.
What has been your experience at YOUR place of employment? How effectively do you feel that YOUR company makes a STRONG, CONCERTED effort to reinforce ethics into the company culture and, especially, relative to the company’s MARKETING efforts?
I’d like to see everyone post to this.

Programming Essentials Payroll calculation program, homework help Programming Assignment Help
Payroll
A local small business has hired you to write a payroll calculation program. The program only needs to calculate gross pay for an employee and display the results. Your program will accept the employee’s name, hours worked, and the employee’s pay rate. The program will need to calculate overtime as well. Overtime is defined as anything over 40 hours is paid at 1.5 times the regular pay. The program should print the employee’s name, the gross pay amount, and only if there was overtime, print the overtime pay amount as well. Finally, the program should repeat as necessary until the user enters a sentinel value.
For this project:
- You will submit your python code in either the original .py file, or copied into a .txt file.
- A screenshot of your code having been executed (run). How to Take a Screenshot
Tips: Remember to keep track of input data types when comparing values. input() formats the user’s data as a string, so comparing string data to a number without quotes would produce an error.
Do not worry about security, it is irrelevant here. Just focus on the functionality discussed above.
Remember to follow the guidelines of good program design. Make sure to use meaningful variable names, include comments as needed, and provide thoughtful output.
Example output:
C:>python week2.py
ABC Inc., Gross Pay Calculator!
Enter employee’s name or 0 to quit: Nathan
Enter hours worked: 35
Enter employee’s pay rate: 10.00
Employee Name: Nathan
Gross Pay: 350.0
Enter next employee’s name or 0 to quit: Toby
Enter hours worked: 45
Enter employee’s pay rate: 10
Employee Name: Toby
Gross Pay: 475.0
(overtime pay: 75.0 )
Enter next employee’s name or 0 to quit: 0

Complete Anthropology Discussion about Cultural Relativism (250 words), philosophy help Humanities Assignment Help
DISCUSSION:
Option B: Cultural Relativism
Cultural relativism asserts that every culture has its own set of customs and beliefs, and that culture must be understood by the standards and values of the people within that culture. Anthropologists think that what might seem cruel or irrational in our own culture must be seen through the lens of cultural relativity, and that all cultures have practices or beliefs that can be seen by others as repugnant or incomprehensible.
After reading The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, explain whether you think cultural relativism can coexist with the idea of universal human rights. Is it possible for anthropologists to promote human rights without imposing their own values and ideas of human rights? Explain your position.
Your initial post should be at least 250 words in length. Support your claims with examples from the required materials and/or other scholarly sources. Cite your sources in the body of your post and provide a complete reference for each source used at the end of it.

War’s Aftermath discussion review, history homework help Humanities Assignment Help
CHOOSE ONE TOPIC PLEASE
Please
review the Week 3 Learning Resources, the Course Resource “War’s
Aftermath,” and my lectures, then participate in this discussion. You
need to post a direct response (i.e., Start a New Thread) to one of the
topic questions by Friday, June 17. Note: Prof. Merriman’s lectures and
the other materials on Fascists and Stalinism will be more relevant for
next week’s discussion. One of those materials is Hitler’s Mein Kampf. I
encourage you to read as much of the 500+ pages that you can stomach
but recommend focusing on the first 5 chapters of Vol. II, pp. 309 –
380.
1. Paris Peace Conference
The
conduct of the victorious allies at the Paris Peace Conference has been
the target of harsh retrospective criticism, but I would like for you
to ask yourselves, how could it have gone differently (keeping in mind
the political realities of the era)? In answering this question, please
refer to the main issues discussed and decided at Paris (and try not to
get too far ahead of yourself in discussing the 1920s and 1930s).
2. The Troubled Twenties
I
would like you to think seriously about what are the prime moving
forces in history by asking yourselves what were the most important
obstacles to stability in Europe in 1920s. Here is a brief summary of
possibilities, to which you are free to add your own:
· The psychological impact of the War
·
The economic impact of the war’s physical destruction, coupled with the
loss of manpower owing to the war and the great flu epidemic;
· The political and cultural impact of the sudden disappearance of monarchy;
· Fundamentally bad decisions by Europe’s political leaders;
· Cultural upheaval (cf. the Course Resource “War’s Aftermath,” which refer to the 1920s as the “Crazy Years.”);
·
Diplomatic upheaval, i.e., the Treaty of Versailles’s unfinished
business coupled with the establishment of so many newly independent
states.
Feel free to refer to the Learning Resources on the social atmosphere of the period.
3. Fascism
The
word “fascist” is often thrown around rather loosely (and inaccurately)
as a pejorative to describe an archconservative. We will discuss Nazi
Germany in more depth next week. This week we can tart off by
discussing the birthplace of fascism, as an idea and practice, Italy.
What were the core principles of Italian fascism? To what extent was
fascism a bi-product of the general problems facing Europe in the 1920s,
and to what extent did uniquely Italian factors contribute?

Assignment 1: Preparing for a Company-Wide Migration to Windows 8 Computer Science Assignment Help
Crescent Manufacturing Inc. (CMI) is a luxury leader in crafted and customized home furnishings. The corporate headquarters and a production facility are located in Texas, with additional manufacturing facilities located in Nebraska and Maryland.
There are 250 employees in the Texas location, 175 in Maryland, and 25 in Nebraska. All locations use Windows 7 as the primary client operating system. The systems at the Maryland location are over five (5) years old. CMI’s Information Technology (IT) department upgraded the computer systems with new hardware within the past year at all other company locations. These upgraded computer systems are capable of running Windows 8. CMI recently upgraded all of its servers to run Windows Server 2012 in an Active-Directory-based environment.
The Operations, Marketing, Administration, IT Support, and Finance departments are located in the Texas location. Nebraska is primarily a manufacturing location that is staffed by production line employees, a line supervisor, and a plant manager. The Maryland office also includes an operations component (i.e., production line employees, line supervisor, and plant manager), a small IT department, and the company’s human resources department.
The current IT support staff comprises a seasoned group of individuals that collectively have over ten (10) years of experience in network administration and working with Microsoft operating systems. Many of the IT staff have recently completed training on the Windows 8 operating system and are well-versed in supporting Windows Server 2008 and 2012. The remainder of the company’s employees has only a basic knowledge of Windows 7 and relies on the company’s help desk to solve a majority of its computer problems. CMI has a team of 50 salespeople who use laptops and tablets while working from their home offices. These employees, who travel extensively with their laptops, must have their systems secured in case of loss or theft. The laptops, purchased over five (5) years ago, run the Windows 7 operating system. The tablets, used only by a subset of the sales staff, are iPads running iOS 7.
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is concerned about employees installing non-standard company applications downloaded from the Windows Store both while at work and when they have their devices at home. The CIO also wants to ensure that those persons on the IT staff are the only individuals authorized to update Windows Store apps. The CIO has an IT support staff of ten (10) employees and does not want to increase the number of applications that need to be supported via the company’s help desk. The help desk is currently staffed by three (3) employees from 8:00 a.m. − 5:00 p.m. (CST).
Hardware and software compatibility issues experienced during the upgrade to Windows 7 several years earlier resulted in the company going over budget by several thousands of dollars. The CFO stated that the reason for going over budget was directly related to problems with their business critical applications not being fully compatible with Windows 7. The applications are used by the Operations department to track inventory, schedule production runs, handle purchase orders, and track product shipments. Senior management wants to address software compatibility testing prior to moving the entire company to Windows 8. They are also concerned about the time it might take to migrate user settings and applications over to the new Windows 8 operating system, the time to train employees on using the new interface, the overall impact on the company’s help desk, and day-to-day operations.
The CIO and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) want more information before making the decision to upgrade to Windows 8 and have asked you to write a report that addresses their concerns and also includes your recommendations on how best to proceed, should the project be approved.
Write an eight to ten (8-10) page paper in which you:
1. Develop a SWOT analysis on the viability of upgrading to Windows 8 for the organization as a whole.
2. Provide a detailed upgrade plan for the organization, including the sales staff. At a minimum:
a. Identify the number of systems, by location and / or departments that IT must replace with new or compatible hardware.
b. Recommend whether the organization should use a phased-in approach (i.e., upgrades are sequenced by departments and / or locations) or a flash-cut approach (i.e., all at once) in order to upgrade to Windows 8. If a phased-in approach is recommended, identify the departments and / or locations you would upgrade, and describe the preferred upgrade sequence. Support your recommendations.
c. Address the length of time in which the upgrade should occur, and identify the main issues which could impact the specified time frame.
d. Describe one (1) approach that IT could use in order to ensure that they thoroughly test business critical applications.
3. Describe three (3) best practices for securing the laptops and tablets for the sales staff after the upgrade is complete.
4. Examine the pros and cons of configuring AppLocker to standardize the software used by employees across the organization.
5. Explain the process and options available for managing application installations and updates via the Windows Store, and thus addressing the concerns voiced by the CIO.
6. Use at least three (3) quality resources in this assignment. Note: Wikipedia and similar Websites do not qualify as quality resources.
Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:
- Be typed, double spaced, using Times New Roman font (size 12), with one-inch margins on all sides; citations and references must follow APA or school-specific format. Check with your professor for any additional instructions.
- Include a cover page containing the title of the assignment, the student’s name, the professor’s name, the course title, and the date. The cover page and the reference page are not included in the required assignment page length.
The specific course learning outcomes associated with this assignment are:
- Demonstrate the ability to install and configure a client operating system, applications, and associated updates as well as designing a client operating system installation strategy.
