Unit VII Scholarly Activity (VZC)
Instructions
Timeline Project
After reviewing the Unit VII materials, you should be familiar with some events that shaped Western Expansion and the Antebellum South. Take a look at the 1793-1857 timeline here. For this assignment, you will pick one of the events identified on the timeline and discuss how that event prompted a change in national philosophies or ideals. In addition to discussing a specific event from the timeline, you will also want to take into consideration how the nation’s views had evolved to the point of the event you choose. Incorporating ideas and related concepts from previous units may help you develop your ideas. Below are the steps you will need to take in order to successfully complete this assignment.
Step 1: Choose an event.
Choose an event from the timeline above that interests you the most. Your research will surround this event, so it is important to think about what you want to learn more about.
Step 2: Conduct research.
Conduct research around the event you chose. For this assignment, you are required to utilize at least one source from the CSU Online Library. Your source can either revolve around the event you chose or it can focus on the philosophies and ideals before/after your event, whichever supports your writing more. Note that you may not find an article specifically addressing both the event you chose and the philosophies surrounding it; in most cases, you will need to use your critical thinking skills to infer the information. You may use more sources if you would like, but those sources cannot include Wikipedia, biography.com, history.com, or other encyclopedias. Click here to view a valuable resource that will walk you through tips and tricks on how to use the library for this assignment.
Step 3: Plan and reflect.
Reflect on the change in American life before and after the event you chose. Once you have completed your research, you should sit back to think about what it means to see if you notice any trends and to have a better sense of what you want to convey in your writing. Although it is not required, you may want to develop a short outline to help you organize your thoughts and ideas. Use some of the following prompts to help guide you:
- Ask yourself about how historical figures and groups related to your event were shaped by this time period and environment.
- Ask yourself how the lives of the people around before and after the event were impacted.
- Ask yourself what qualities, ideals, and philosophies you would most like to emphasize, and make sure the facts that you present support it.
- Find the perfect anecdote to demonstrate these qualities.
Step 4: Write your assignment.
Your final assignment should include a title page, a minimum of two pages of content, and a reference page. As you are writing, be sure to keep the following in mind:
- The introduction should engage the reader and clearly present a summary of the main points that clarify your point of view. The introduction should also include a thesis statement.
- The quality of your writing should demonstrate critical thinking.
- Organization should clearly present points arranged to illustrate your opening points.
- Writing should be clear and concise with no spelling, grammatical, or punctuation errors.
- You must utilize at least one source from the CSU Online Library.
- APA formatting guidelines should be used for this assignment.

Purpose: The purpose of this assignment is to revise the body of your academic argumentative research paper, which you created a draft of in Unit VI.
Description: In this assignment, you will revise the three to four body paragraphs you wrote in Unit VI. The following requirements must be included in the assignment:
- Body Paragraphs: You will revise the body section of your paper based on feedback received from your professor in Unit VI. Please review here the guidelines for the body section of your research paper: This section will include three to four paragraphs comprised of five to seven sentences each. Each paragraph should be between 150-200 words. At a minimum, this portion of the paper should be 450-600 words (for three to four paragraphs); a body section of this length will meet the minimum requirements of the assignment. Revisions must be substantive and should be made in accordance with the direction given by the professor’s feedback. The following components must be included in each body paragraph (in the following order).
- Sentence 1: Point/reason sentence: This topic sentence will contain one of your reasons.
- Sentence 2: Explanation: In this sentence, you will provide information that further develops or explains Sentence 1.
- Sentence 3: Illustration: This sentence introduces evidence that supports the reason that is presented in Sentence 1.
- Sentence 4: Explanation of the illustration: Because the evidence does not necessarily stand on its own, you need to provide explanation so that the reader will understand how you interpreted the evidence to come to your reason.
- Sentences 5-6: Second illustration and explanation (optional): You may choose to include a second piece of evidence that is then followed by an explanation.
- Last Sentence: Transition: In this sentence, you will signal to the reader that you will be moving on to another point in the next paragraph. You do this to ease the movement from one point to another.
- Be sure to include the introduction and literature review you have already created and revised.
- Use APA conventions to cite and reference all sources used to support your argument.

ENTD261 Central Texas How to Use Spreadsheets as Data Storage & Data Analysis Tools Discussion Computer Science Assignment Help
Hello,
I need two responses of at least 150 words each for the below students discussions for this week. Also in the bold below are the questions the students at answering.
Instructions:
What is a spreadsheet. How do we use spreadsheets as data storage and data analysis tools? How do you use spreadsheets to manage daily administrative tasks?
Student one:
Hi Everyone,
I can’t believe it’s already weeks 7. We are almost done!!! I really liked this class because I learned a lot from it and from all of you, so thank you 🙂
A spreadsheet is a computer application that help its users with data organization, analysis, and storage in a tabular format. Spreadsheets are widely used on so many different levels. It can be used to organize personal information or create monthly budget. I personally use it to organize my family’s daily, weekly, and monthly tasks and our monthly budget. It also can be used for business accounting and expenditure analysis and tracking.
Data is usually entered into cells of tables, each cell can contain data in any format and types. The cells are typically created in rows and columns that are labeled in numbers and letters respectively. So, cells are usually referred to as A1 or DF600 based on which column and row it resides.
Spreadsheets provide build-in functions for calculating from simple to very complicated mathematical formulas. It also includes graphical features for high level or detailed presentation of data. Spreadsheets charts are used for visual data analysis that can be automatically updated as data is added or changed. Data can presented in so many graphical formats like bar charts, pie charts, and area charts. All these graphs and charts are 100% customizable like the range of data included to color themes. Spreadsheets are not like databases where it can be queried but data can be sorted based on a specific column.
According to whatis.com, Daniel Bricklin and Bob Frankston created the first spreadsheet application, VisiCalc (for “visible calculator”). Few companies follow their lead like Lotus1-2-3 and Microsoft Office which is the most popular spreadsheet application used today and it’s called MSExcel.

Student two:
Hello Class,
What is a spreadsheet. How do we use spreadsheets as data storage and data analysis tools? How do you use spreadsheets to manage daily administrative tasks?
A spreadsheet is a tool used to organize data in rows and columns. It’s is very useful for any type of data you want to input in it, one example is that I use it for my monthly budget. Microsoft Excel is a spreadsheet that contains many different functions, you can create tables, charts, graphs, all of which contain many functions to do multiple things to calculate for you with ease.
Spreadsheets are easy to use as data storage and analysis, as you would be able to organize and sort data however you’d like and apply functions appropriate to how you need to display it in a readable format for yourself and others.
Using spreadsheets for administrative tasks, I feel like you could make a checklist, maybe divide the work up between colleagues and you can make it a shared document so everyone can work from it simultaneously. Each person can update accordingly and that data is shared with everyone who opens the spreadsheet to see what work has been done. With spreadsheets you can really apply anything you do work-related in to a table of data and sort it, to see the entire scope of the situation.
Thanks for reading,
Derek
