1. Draw the full decision tree for the parity function of four Boolean attributes, A, B, C, and D. Is it possible to simplify the tree?
6. Consider the following set of training examples (see table in the book).
(a) Compute a two-level decision tree using the greedy approach described in this chapter. Use the classification error rate as the criterion for splitting. What is the overall error rate of the induced tree?
(b) Repeat part (a) using X as the first splitting attribute and then choose the best remaining attribute for splitting at each of the two successor nodes. What is the error rate of the induced tree?
(c) Compare the results of parts (a) and (b). Comment on the suitability of the greedy heuristic used for splitting attribute selection.
10. While the .632 bootstrap approach is useful for obtaining a reliable estimate of model accuracy, it has a known limitation 1127]. Consider a two-class problem, where there are equal number of positive and negative examples in the data. Suppose the class labels for the examples are generated randomly. The classifier used is an unpruned decision tree (i.e., a perfect memorizer). Determine the accuracy of the classifier using each of the following methods. The holdout method, where two-thirds of the data are used for training and the remaining one-third are used for testing. Ten-fold cross-validation. The .632 bootstrap method. From the results in parts (u), (b), and (c), which method provides a more reliable evaluation of the classifier’s accuracy?
12. Let X be a binomial random variable with mean N*p and variance N*p*(1−p). Show that the ratio X/N also has a binomial distribution with mean p and variance p*(1 − p)/N.
6. (a) Suppose the fraction of undergraduate students who smoke is 15% and the fraction of graduate students who smoke is 23%. If one-fifth of the college students are graduate students and the rest are undergraduates, what is the probability that a student who smokes is a graduate student?
(b) Given the information in part (a), is a randomly chosen college student more likely to be a graduate or undergraduate student?
(c) Repeat part (b) assuming that the student is a smoker.
(d) Suppose 30% of the graduate students live in a dorm but only l0% of the undergraduate students live in a dorm. If a student smokes and lives in the dorm, is he or she more likely to be a graduate or undergraduate student? You can assume independence between students who live in a dorm and those who smoke.
16. (a) Demonstrate how the perceptron model can be used to represent the AND and OR functions between a pair of Boolean variables.
(b) Comment on the disadvantage of using linear functions as activation functions for multilayer neural networks.

BSL4060 Columbia Southern University Significance of Communication Discussion Business Finance Assignment Help
Members of any team must value the significance of communication, particularly when setting goals and when attempting to solve problems. One form of communication—feedback—is most helpful when it is given in a descriptive fashion or offers suggestions for members to consider. List and explain several ways team members can share feedback with one another. In addition, share what tactics have proved successful or unsuccessful for you when previously providing feedback to a subordinate, peer, or coworker.

Please respond to my classmate response below:
There are many ways team members can share feedback with one another including the following several methods that I have chosen which include: envelope exchange, management profile, open feedback session, and prescription writing. Envelope exchange is a process in which each person writes a note to the other team members with specific, individual feedback, covering any issues needed to be addressed. The envelopes are then given to the team members, Management profile occurs when each person presents the profile of his or her effectiveness from previously gathered data. As a group the profile is either confirmed or disconfirmed. An open feedback occurs when each person who would like feedback may ask for it in order to identify areas of personal effectiveness and areas that need improvement. My last choice is prescription writing which occurs when each person writes a prescription for others “Here is what I would prescribe that you do (or stop doing) in order to be more effective in your position.” The prescriptions are then exchanged. The only tactic that I have found to be successful is to be completley open and honest while still trying to remain professional and polite. There is never any reason to be rude when trying to provide feedback to someone. I would also consider the type of feedback I am giving to determine whether to speak privately to the individual or if a group session would be ok and not embarrass the individual (Gibb Dyer Jr., W., Dyer, J.H., Dyer, W.G., 2013).

Operational Concept Map and accompanying report
Assessment Learning Outcomes
This assignment is designed to assess learning outcomes:
MLO1: Determine the core concepts of service operations management and how they can be applied in the concept of the hospitality and tourism sector.
MLO2: Critically appraise the characteristics and scope of the hospitality and tourism sector.
Submission Requirements
Your submission should contain one MS Word document that includes a concept map and an accompanying report.
Details of the task
You’re to produce a concept map on the following topics:
- What are the demands and drivers of the modern business traveller and how should an airline of your choice respond to them?
- The accompanying 1,500 word report should further explain your application of the concept map, whilst determining the core concepts of service operations management (MLO1) and critically appraising the characteristics and scope of the hospitality and tourism sector (MLO2).
Guidance Notes
A concept map is a diagram that depicts suggested relationships between concepts. It is a graphical tool that is used to organise and structure knowledge. You are to create a concept map which meets one of the above topics.
Your report should then go into further detail to explain and critically appraise the relationships between these topics, whilst applying and critiquing relevant models, theories, frameworks and concepts from the discipline.
Your concept map can take one of the two following formats:
Example A
Example B
As you can see, both of the above examples show the relationships between the key concepts. Example A, uses overlapping bubbles to show which concepts relate to one and another, whilst Example B uses boxes with connecting lines to depict the relationships.
It is vital that all of the relationships are shown on your concept map and then fully explained in your report. You should be using high quality research to underpin and support your report. This means referring to research from peer reviewed journals first, which can be found on Locate, which can be accessed via Moodle. If you’re unsure about how to use Locate, please make an appointment in the library for a Spotlight session about this.
I expect to see a range of appropriate models, theories, frameworks and concepts referred to and applied in your report. You only have 1,500 words, so you will have to be selective and choose the ones that best meet the required module learning outcomes and the task set in the brief.
Assignment Guidelines
Structure
You have been asked to produce a concept map and a report. The report should contain the following:
- Anonymous submission coversheet ( please ensure appropriate coversheet is attached to your assessment brief)
- Title Page, including the given title in full
- Executive Summary
- Contents Page
- Introduction
- Main body, which should also be organised under appropriate headings – never use the heading main body!
- Conclusion
- Appendices, which should be numbered
- Make sure you refer your reader to them as required.
