For this assignment, you will complete an observation of a child between the ages of 1 and 10. You will write a paper which carefully describes the behavior and discusses that behavior in terms of child developmental psychology.

You can choose to visit a day care or nursery school and observe a randomly chosen child for an hour, or you can choose to observe the child of a friend or family member. Observe different types of play involvement and other interactions. You should be an unbiased observer, meaning that you should not interact with the child yourself. Take note of everything the child says and does, everything that is said or done to the child, and every gesture and facial expression or movement he or she makes.

Designing a chart of anticipated behavior prior to your observation should prove helpful. Leave space for unanticipated behaviors. You should be unbiased and remain uninfluenced by your own attitudes and opinions when observing. Don’t be judgmental or condemnatory – just record your observations. Note the time of your observations every 10 minutes and include reference to these notations in your paper. It is important to observe the amount and variety of activity that occurs within a specified time interval. However, do NOT specifically identify the child by name, only by gender and age.

Writing Your Child Observation Paper

Re-read your notes and the module readings to determine what aspects of childhood physical development you wish to focus on.

Write a one paragraph introduction. Include in the introduction a description of the circumstances of the observation and pertinent information about the child, such as age and gender.

Select five physical activities or behaviors the child exhibited. Describe each activity/behavior and connect it to a concept from this module. Was the child’s physical activity/behavior appropriate, given the child’s age? What milestones has this child already reached, and what milestones do they have yet to reach?

In a concluding paragraph, summarize your conclusions. Include any factors that may have impacted on the behavior of the child.

Include your original rough observation notes at the end of your paper.

A regional bank has decided to open an office overseas for serving those businesses that are expanding internationally. Choose a country with a large financial center that you believe would be helpful to your customer base.

• Discuss some of the challenges you may face in this new environment.
  • What are the cultural, ethnic, social, and educational characteristics?
• Describe the political and legal systems.

• Should they hedge foreign exchange or something else? Explain.
• Identify 3 foreign exchange instruments you would recommend?
• What, if any, government regulations that would affect earnings and cash flow should they be aware of?
• Include the need to be aware of inflation and interest rates and how it affects exchange rates.
• Keep in mind that the country that the plant is in does not necessarily have to be where the financing is done.

For this Case Assignment, you will be using the CDC Risk Communication resource provided in your required readings section.

Step 1: Go to the website and, under Risk Communication, click on “Emergency Preparedness and Response.”

Step 2: Read through the information on this page and then click on “Information on Specific Types of Emergencies.”

Step 3: Next, browse through this information and click on “Recent Outbreaks and Incidents.”

Step 4: Under “Select a Year,” click any from 2015 to the present.

Step 5: Choose one of the recent outbreaks for your investigation.

In your paper:

1. Identify the incident/outbreak you selected for which risk communication was essential.
2. Describe the situation that occurred and provide some statistics to display the severity of the incident.
3. What types of communication/procedures were used during this incident? Provide examples on the information that was disseminated and how it aided in resolving the situation.

I’ve been impressed with the conversation this week about sexuality and sexual interactions, and I thought it might be interesting to explore this material (and meet another part of our Gen Ed requirements) through another mode of writing: the advice pamphlet. I’m sure you’ve come across many of these, perhaps with a medical focus, safe driving tips, nutrition or exercise – maybe even a pamphlet on sex, sexual relationships, sexual orientation, or safer sex practices.

Writing a good pamphlet requires knowing clearly what information or position you want to convey and a clear sense of who your audience is and their level of reading proficiency. Sentences and paragraphs are usually short, and the active voice (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site. is typically used. So for this kind of writing, you need to have a good sense of what you want to say – maybe outline, diagram, or map this out before you start writing – and then you need to find very clear ways to state your thoughts and edit your text carefully to make sure that your word choices are clear, the sentences aren’t too complex, the tone is polished and professional, etc.

Assignment. Your exercise is to write an advice pamphlet about how to negotiate gendered interactional dynamics in order to have a healthy sex life.

Your targeted audience is the college student. You can focus your pamphlet on a strictly female audience, strictly male audience, or a mixed-sex audience – or you can even have a part addressing women and another part addressing men. You can also focus your pamphlet on heterosexual relationships, homosexual relationships, or just have a general focus.

If you want to format your submission like a pamphlet (multiple columns, bold headings, images or graphs, etc.), you are certainly welcome to do so, but this is not a part of the exercise or the grading. The focus of this exercise is how you argue and support the advice you give in negotiating gendered expectations in the context of sexual interactions.
