Find the portfolio number to the right of Michael Speagle then go to the data sheet Download data sheet to find the annual total returns (with dividends reinvested in the fund) for your portfolio’s ten funds.
You’ll see the ticker symbol for each and can reference the tab labeled Mutual Funds to see more information regarding the name of the fund.
You assignment is to load the data from the data sheet tab into the tab labeled TEMPLATE, as indicated as step 1.
Then calculate descriiptive statistics (step 2), a variance-covariance matrix (step 3), correlation matrix (step 4), and ultimately the optimal allocation to each of the 10 funds. A
Don’t be too concerned if your portfolio allocates to just one fund out of the ten. That can happen, but most will allocate to more than one fund.
Keep all of your work organized in the template tab, save the Excel sheet when you are finished.
