During this course, you will compose a 12- to 15-page paper on a policy or governance issue related to education. Your final paper will have a References list in APA format. You will complete a draft of your paper in sections as you progress through the course. The completed paper is due at the end of Module 10. In the final paper, you will complete the following:
Introduce the policy or governance issue by providing an historical, social, political, and economic background descriiption of the issue, its current level of support, and its potential impact on students and their achievement. (Module 4)
Identify 2-3 key reports, studies, or papers about the policy or governance issue, and explain how they support the topic. (Module 6)
Identify key individuals and organizations promoting various aspects of potential change related to the policy or governance issue, and evaluate their roles in policy making. (Module 8)
Identify the current stage of implementation, potential for success, and potential barriers to implementation. Assess the impact which the policy or governance issue may have on current or future education reforms. (Module 9)
As you complete your assigned readings in Module 1 and conduct your own independent research, identify 2-3 policy or governance issues for further study during the course. In a one-page paper (not including the title and references pages), briefly discuss why you are interested in the issues and why they are important in education.
