Stereotypes are frequently used to legitimize bad form and segregation, approve abuse, empower misuse, support savagery, and shield degenerate power structures. According to Psychology Today, there are many truth that is underlying social labels and stereotypes. This is because of stereotype many relationships are getting destroyed because one day you will get to know truth because it was their expectations that might can be ruined. I think you can change stereotypes and prejudices as by changing behavior of yourself or try to interact with more and more people, so you won’t have any misunderstandings towards any race. You can try to make every kind of race friend. You will able to learn more about cultural and people around you. Also, make sure there is always bad mind people around but you just have to ignore and keep going on your track.

I believe that there is only a hint of truth to social labels and stereotypes, but they shouldn’t be relied on to make a judgment about a person. In the book (Feldman, 2017), it states that stereotypes are a set of generalized beliefs and expectations about a specific group and its members. It also mentions, how when we use stereotypes we are oversimplifying the world and not looking at people as individuals and judging them off their unique personality traits. Based on what I learned about cognitive schemas, the way we understand and make sense of others includes sets of of cognitions about people and social experiences (Feldman, 2017). We usually hold schemas for specific types of people, so that may be a reason why stereotypes and prejudices form. Also there was an example in the book (Feldman, 2017) where the someone described a teacher as a warm or cold person, and the class’s impressions were influenced by that description. This just shows that people are influenced by a positive or negative description of someone or something and that sways how they look at the person. In order to change stereotypes and prejudices we need to look at people as individuals and not to judge off of a preconceived notion. When we see behavior we don’t like do not automatically judge it, think if it is situational or dispositional, and why they are like that (Feldman, 2017). Look at situations and people individually, then we can remove stereotyping which people use as an easy way to judge someone.

I think the reason people believe that opposites attract is because it can seem fulfilling in way. I think there is no one truth in which people would prefer, and it depends on the people. Some people are attracted to people who have opposite personalities because they balance them. Even though, they might have different personalities or energies, they might have similar likings or traits or experiences in which they can connect. In the book (Feldman, 2017), it states that discovering that others have similar attitudes, values, or traits promotes our liking for them. Maybe when we find a similarity with someone you wouldn’t expect to have something in common, it attracts you more then someone you would expect it from. As a couple they can cover each others weaknesses and use both their individual strengths. In theory having diverse or opposing opinions sounds good because, they can help the each other become well rounded and learn how to deal with their opposite energy and maybe even influence each other to be more open. Although, this can also limit some relationships, and cause a lot of disagreement which can cause the couple to break up, or for them to adjust for their partners becoming more open.

The reason I think people believe opposite attract is because they believe this will help balance the relation. An example is when a troublesome person marries a quiet person. This to me is a perfect match because I believe two troublesome persons should not marry because the marriage can end in violence. My understanding is that two quick to anger person should not be in a relationship, rather, it is good to have the opposite to balance things up. I think the believe that opposite attract is true because I believe during courtship, people tend to know more about themselves and in the process, they can tell if they are similar or opposite to each other. In a Relationship with different background and experiences, both partners will bring together their ideas, which will provide an alternative solution and approaches when discussing an issue. Having diverse and opposing opinion can also limit a relationship because when two people have an opposing idea on an issue, there will be delay in decision taking and finding solution because the partner have not reached an agreement on what step to take in providing solution to the problem.

Statement of the Problem – The statement of the problem is a rational and reasoned argument that posits the problem and indicates the necessity for the research. This should be supported by a literature review of critical studies that provide sufficient information to identify the “gap” in the current research that will be addressed by the proposed study. This will set the stage for how your research will contribute to already-existing attempts to address the problem. This section also will incorporate definitions of key concepts.
