For this project, you are tasked with developing a change management plan that will be designed to improve quality in an acute care hospital in your community. This hospital has a poor Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) and ORYX quality metrics, and low patient satisfaction. Further, government regulations and Joint Commission accreditation standards are not being met. Financial ruin seems imminent. Your plan will be 5-7 pages, excluding cover page, abstract page, and reference page. When constructing your plan, conduct research using peer-reviewed sources to determine the following:

  • Identify goals and objectives that are expected to be met.
  • Provide an overview of HEDIS and ORYX measures, and describe the importance of those measures to the hospital and how the hospital can improve metrics in both measures.

Questions that need to be addressed in the presentation:

Part I: New York Times v. Sullivan

  • Who are the parties to the case and what facts led to their dispute?
  • Why did Sullivan feel his reputation was damaged by the New York Times publication?
  • What are the elements of defamation (libel)? Since Sullivan was a public official, what did the plaintiff have to prove in this case?

Strategies for reading and understanding each case: You can stop reading each case once the Court’s opinion has been rendered (i.e., you do not need to read the concurring and dissenting opinions). You may read a short summary of each case (case brief) at: and . The case briefs will not contain all of the information you need to answer the above questions, but they will help you understand each case in its simplest form.

Presentation requirements: The presentation should be 7-10 minutes in duration, contain at least 10 slides, and conform to APA standards. You need to include a separate slide at the end of your presentation, which lists all of the outside references you used throughout your presentation (including any pictures).

Part 5

Introduction to Academic Research

Choose a topic that is highly debated in the education world such as the use of standardized tests, single-gender classrooms, technology in education, pay for performance of teachers, etc.

Find one article that supports a position and one article that is against that position. Post the links to each of those articles in the discussion board.

Which article do you think is more credible and why? Support your answer with the information you learned from the readings this week and the material in your articles.

Part 6

Here is a great article I thought you might find very interesting about the Marketing process of developing a new product. The article’s title is “Post-It-Notes were Invented by Accident.” Tell me what you think about this article after you read it

Part 7

Find one (1) qualitative and one (1) quantitative peer-reviewed article on your research topic. Post both article links to the discussion board and summarize each study’s goal, questions asked, data collection, methodology, and findings.

Part 8

Pretend that you are sitting in front of a panel of Human Resources professionals to answer the following questions which most interviewers typically ask.

For example,

a) Tell me a little bit about you: This is a trick question – do not provide personal information regarding age, marital status, number of children, etc. Only discuss your educational goals and professional work experience.

b) What are some of your strengths? (Make sure to list at least three strengths or qualities or talents or skills and be specific)

c) Tell ONE of your weaknesses. Provide ONLY one. For example, you can say “I am a perfectionist, however, I always complete my work in a timely manner.” OR “Although some people may describe me as introverted, I possess strong listening skills.” Never say anything negative about yourself. This question is simply intended to see if you are humble and teachable and a team player.

d) Where do you see yourself in five years from today? The prospective employer wants to know whether you are a strategic thinker, planner, and problem solver. For example, you can discuss your either your short-term goals (6 months) or long-term goals (1 to 5 years) such as educational goals and career advancement opportunities. You can also mention that you welcome the opportunity to join the company. You can also say that you see yourself growing professionally as a team members with this organization.

Part 9

Start your post off with your research topic and potential research question/problem.

Do a search for one quality article about your topic that would include in your literature review (must be different than the article you posted last week.)

Do a general search for an article about your topic that is nota quality article (try to keep the article within the past year).

Post both links to each article and the citation in APA format but do not note which article is which.

Part 10

I need a copy of your Study Schedule or what I call a “Success plan” to help you get organized by no later than Sunday at midnight to earn your first bonus points. You can either create a calendar and mark what day and what time are you going to sit down to your your homework. Break it down in intervals of 30 minutes to one hour per day. Remember, it takes 30 days to develop a good habit.
