6.It is common to talk about polarization in our politics and societies today. Use an example of polarization we’ve covered in this class to draw out a relevant lesson to a similar issue today.

7.Reparations for slavery have been occasionally discussed in the American public sphere. Use specific examples from history we’ve covered in this class as you develop a brief argument for or against monetary reparations for slavery. In constructing this paper you can, of course, use more modern history, but your paper will need to be solidly grounded in the period before 1877.
