How to Write a Journal Article Review APA Style

Erica Sweeney, eHow Contributor

A journal article review is a common assignment
in college and graduate school. Reviewing journal articles is an important
assignment on its own or as part of a much larger research paper. Typically,
instructors will give you guidelines on the type of journal articles to review
and what to include, but general APA journal article reviews will follow
certain conventions. Articles should be from peer-reviewed or scholarly
journals and relate to the field of study that the class discusses.

1. Search the library’s online databases, such
as EbscoHost and others, to find scholarly or peer- reviewed articles. You can
also look in indexes available at the library.

2. Read the entire article. Many journal
articles can be quite complex and use complicated wording and statistics. You
may need to read the article a few times before you get a full grasp of it.

3. Write a citation for the journal article at
the top of the review. The citation should follow the American Psychological
Association’s styleconsult the APA-style manual or the link under Resources for
citation information. You will need the title of the article, the journal where
the article is published, the volume and issue number, publication date,
author’s name and page numbers for the article.

4. Write a summary of the article. This should
be one to three paragraphs, on the length of the article. Include the purpose
for the article, how research was conducted, the results and other pertinent
information from the article.

5. Discuss the meaning or implication of the
results of the study that the article is about. This should be one to two
paragraphs. This is where you offer your opinion on the article. Discuss any
flaws with the article, how you think it could have been better and what you
think it all means.

6. Write one paragraph discussing how the author
could expand on the results, what the information means in the big picture,
what future research should focus on or how future research could move the
topic forward. Discuss how knowledge in the area could be expanded.

7. Cite any direct quotes or paraphrases from
the article. Use the authors name, the year of publication and the page number
(for quotes) in the in-text citation.

No plagiarism. Using easy vocabulary is enough.

Paper on the ethical issues involved in the genetic testing of embryos. Humanities Assignment Help

Assignment:

  1. Write a six page essay in
which you analyze the ethical issues involved in the genetic testing of
embryos, called preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD).  After reading
the provided articles, evaluate whether the testing and discarding of
fertilized human embryos before implantation in a woman is morally
acceptable.  In the essay, provide a synopsis of your overall ethical
perspective, clearly explain your reasoning in regards to these
particular issues, and be internally consistent.  In reaching your
conclusion, be sure to include answers to these questions:
  • Does
eliminating the presence of genetically transferred diseases morally
override the sanctity of a fertilized embryo, or is discarding diseased
embryos an immoral form of abortion?
  • Does society have a moral
responsibility to test and discard embryos proven to be infected with
fatal genetic diseases for the sake of society’s future health?
  • Is
it morally acceptable to allow testing and discarding of fertilized
embryos found to carry non-fatal problems such as deafness, dwarfism, or
    for determining gender?
  • Is it morally acceptable if the expense
of PGD restricts its use to wealthy members of society, so that
genetically transferred diseases are only found among the poor, or
should PGD be subsidized financially by our society so it is available
    to all, regardless of income?

Process Flow: How a Prescription is Filled Business Finance Assignment Help

Hi guys, I need your help for my assignment.

Duval Pharmacy – How a Prescription is Filled

Adapted from a case created by Mark Davis 2004

A prescription enters the pharmacy via the following:

  • Walk-in (patient with paper script)
  • telephone call (patient with refill)
  • IVR (patient refill)
  • electronic (doctor submitted refill or new order)

Walk-in patients are greeted by a retail clerk, who takes the prescription and places it on the back counter for review by the pharmacist technician.

the clerk will ask the customer if s/he wants to wait for it. if the customer elects to wait, they can do so in the waiting area – or they can elect to leave and return at a later point.

prescriptions that are telephone call, IVR, or electronic do not require any of the clerk’s time. telephone calls will be fielded by the pharmacy tech or pharmacist, IVR, and electronic go directly to a queue in the prescription system which can be viewed by both the pharmacy technician and pharmacist.

if the prescription is for new customer, the pharmacy technician will get information such s address, telephone number, type of insurance coverage, allergies, etc.., and enter it into the computer.

for all prescriptions, coverage by insurance is done with the health insurance provider. the pharmacy tech will initiate this verification. if confirmation is no coverage, the tech communicates this to the patient and the process of completing the order is discontinued.

the next step in the process is the printing of the prescription label for the package which is done by the pharmacy tech. following that, the order is filled. the counting of the pills, capsules or tablets, and the relabeling of prepackaged creams, ointments and jellies can be done by the pharmacist technician. however, the remaining types of prescriptions must be filled by a pharmacist.

regardless of the type, each prescriptions is then checked for accuracy by the pharmacist. after the accuracy check, the prescription is delivered to an alphabetized rack and made available for pick up by the customer.

the retail clerk will retrieve the completed order from the rack, the complete the delivery steps (which consists of confirming the identification of the customer, asking for their confirmation of receipt on an electronic signature pad, receipt of any payment due from the customer, packing this and any materials related to the prescription in the bag and stapling it closed). the retail clerk then delivers it to the customer.

Topic and Hypothesis Humanities Assignment Help

The Capstone course seeks to have each student conduct an original research report on a current or relevant topic in political science. For this week’s written assignment,  select one topic from the two topics below and begin the preliminary research on the topic.

  • U.S. Health Care Reform legislation debate and policy circa 2009 to present
  • U.S. immigration reform policy circa 2001 to present

In two to three pages (excluding the title and reference pages), complete the following tasks:

  • Identify the topic for your research paper, develop research questions and provide a brief background overview of the topic. Explain why you believe the topic is worthy of research. Then, create a research question that you intend to answer regarding the topic. Keep in mind that this is not a book report, it is a research design. Therefore, it is important to choose a current topic and develop a question that can be evaluated scientifically.
  • Once you have crafted a research question, create three hypotheses that might answer your question. These hypotheses will be the research areas you will pursue to answer your research question.

Example
Topic- Global Warming
Question: Is it in U.S. interests to sign the Kyoto Protocol to reduce carbon emissions?
Hypothesis- If the U.S. signs the Kyoto Protocol, the competitiveness of American businesses will decrease. Students will need to elaborate further than this brief example.

Cite your resources in text and on the reference page. APA style please!
