Final Lab Report

You are required to write a complete laboratory report that covers the drinking water quality experiment from “Lab 2: Water Quality and Contamination,” using knowledge gained throughout the course. Use the instructor feedback on your Rough Draft from Week Three to guide your writing. Be sure to download the Final Lab Report Template and utilize this form (not the Rough Draft template) to ensure proper formatting and inclusion of all required material. Additionally, view the Sample Final Lab Report before beginning this assignment, which will illustrate what a Final Lab Report should look like. You must use at least two scholarly sources, two other highly credible sources, and your lab manual to support your points. The report must be six to ten pages in length (excluding the title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style. For information regarding APA samples and tutorials, visit the Ashford Writing Center, located within the Learning Resources tab on the left navigation toolbar, in your online course.

The Final Lab Report must contain the following eight sections in this order:

  1. Title Page – This page must include the title of your report, your name, course name, instructor, and date submitted.
  2. Abstract – This section should provide a brief summary of the methods, results, and conclusions. It should allow the reader to see what was done, how it was done, and the results. It should not exceed 200 words and should be the last part written (although it should still appear right after the title page).
  3. Introduction – This section should include background information on water quality and an overview of why the experiment was conducted. It should first contain background information of similar studies previously conducted. This is accomplished by citing existing literature from similar experiments. Secondly, it should provide an objective or a reason why the experiment is being done. Why do we want to know the answer to the question we are asking? Finally, it should end the hypothesis from your Week Two experiment, and the reasoning behind your hypothesis. This hypothesis should not be adjusted to reflect the “right” answer. Simply place your previous hypothesis in the report here. You do not lose points for an inaccurate hypothesis; scientists often revise their hypotheses based on scientific evidence following the experiments.
  4. Materials and Methods – This section should provide a detailed description of the materials used in your experiment and how they were used. A step-by-step rundown of your experiment is necessary; however, it should be done in paragraph form, not in a list format. The description should be exact enough to allow for someone reading the report to replicate the experiment, however, it should be in your own words and not simply copied and pasted from the lab manual.
  5. Results – This section should include the data and observations from the experiment. All tables and graphs should be present in this section. In addition to the tables, you must describe the data in text; however, there should be no personal opinions or discussion outside of the results located within this area.
  6. Discussion – This section should interpret your data and provide conclusions. Discuss the meanings of your findings in this area. Was your hypothesis accepted or rejected, and how were you able to determine this? Did the results generate any future questions that might benefit from a new experiment? Were there any outside factors (i.e., temperature, contaminants, time of day) that affected your results? If so, how could you control for these in the future?
  7. Conclusions – This section should provide a brief summary of your work.
  8. References – List references used in APA format as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

Part 1

  • In the early 20th century, rural areas of China experienced deplorable health conditions. Due to extreme poverty and lack of access to adequate medical care, nearly 80% of China’s population, the percentage living in rural areas, teetered on the verge of death. In an attempt to solve the public health crisis, the Chinese government commissioned doctors, known as “barefoot doctors.” These doctors used specific behaviors that connected to and were understood by residents in the community. With specific behaviors that shaped a style of leadership, these doctors educated rural residents on basic healthcare practices. Although “barefoot,” these doctors projected a wealth of knowledge, leading others to better health and a better way of life (Valentine, 2005).
  • Previous to the 1990s, an individual’s Intelligent Quotient (IQ) remained an unquestioned, central standard of learning. With a high IQ, it may be assumed an individual might be well-versed in knowledge in order to tackle any problem, making effective and efficient decisions. Yet, contemporary research also indicates that good problem-solving and quality decision making did not always stem from one’s IQ, but more importantly one’s Emotional Intelligence (EI). In fact, a variety of studies have shown that “emotional intelligence competencies account for anywhere from 24 to 69 percent of performance success” (Lynn, 2008).

For this paper, select an article depicting a behavioral perspective to public health leadership. Think about particular strengths and limitations of this perspective. Consider how this perspective relates to Trait Theory of leadership.

  • It may appear as a hopeless cause to provide health programs in an area suffering severe health disasters and coping with internally displaced populations. For Htee Moo, cofounder of the Backpack Health Worker Team, hope was a driving force behind instituting more than 20 health clinics in Burma. With numerous health disasters, and countless human rights violations, there was no single, perfect style of healthcare leadership for this situation. Despite this challenge, Moo created the Backpack Health Team and various clinics throughout the country. Using a situational approach in public health leadership, Moo was able to provide primary health care services to more than 80,000 Burmese residents (Beyrer & Pizer, 2007). Though different situations exist among leaders, the skills and characteristics to adapt to particular situations are essential as a public health leader.
  • As pressures and demands for more standardized business structures fluctuate in society, leaders may experience challenges in developing consistent methods for solving public health problems. Though consistency may be necessary for enacting change, within many areas and localities, consistency may not be an option. As a result, a leader must be able to use a systems thinking approach to evaluate the best method for leadership contingent upon the circumstance.

Unit 2 – Individual Project/645, management homework help Business Finance Assignment Help

Deliverable Length: 1,000–1,500 words

Description:

Within organizations, the human resources department is considered an ally by some managers and a barrier by others. The legal requirements of managing HR require you to be the dispenser of policies, procedures, and rules at times and a trusted counselor and guide at other times. There are varying perspectives on the value HR policies bring to an organization. In other words, the policies, procedures, or rules may be viewed as tools that help or hinder leaders from managing their people and will either detract from or enhance company performance. When not properly aligned with the company’s goals, they can negatively affect the success of the organization. You know that you need to review the current HR policies, procedures, and rules and anticipate that you may be recommending changes, additions, or deletions. Because you are still new and solidifying your position within the company, you are concerned that missteps now will cost you your “place at the table.”

You decide to consult with your mentor—an experienced, powerful HR executive at another company. She presents the following for you to consider:

What steps will you take in your policy, procedure, and HR rules review with the jewelry company?

What will that involve? As you consider their HR policies, how will you ensure they are effectively aligned with what you see as the company’s goals?

If you find areas where policy revision is needed, how will you present your recommendations?

How do you feel your recommendations will be viewed?

Do you anticipate resistance? If so, what plan do you have to overcome that?

What do you see as the possible outcome from policy revision in terms of impact on the company’s performance?

Write her an e-mail addressing these issues.

Note: You are required to use a minimum of 2 scholarly references in your research. Ensure that citations and references are formatted in compliance with APA style.

Assignment Objectives:

Apply legal and ethical elements and decision making parameters to the development of human resource policies. Develop a model for decision-making regarding human resource policies and procedures.

As the new HR manager of a jewelry company, you have put together some preliminary reports for the CEO. One of the reports you compiled focuses on employee turnover. The jewelry company is an organization with aggressive expansion goals. In the last 2 years, the company has continually hired new employees, yet it has not achieved the staffing levels it desired. The company knew that some employees had left the organization, but turnover rates have not been formally tracked.

After your preliminary fact-finding, you were surprised to discover that the turnover rate for the past year was 38%. You know the CEO will not be pleased with this turnover rate, and you have made the decision to prepare yourself more before presenting the report to the CEO. Turnover presents a significant cost for an organization, so you recognize that this will be an opportunity for you to demonstrate how you can partner with the executive team to turn this situation around and help the company be more competitive. Prepare a short presentation for the CEO on the situation and possible reasons as to why employees are leaving at such a high rate.

Read the following information about a typical dental practice:

* Family Dental has two offices in the same city — the North office and the South office. These offices offer the same dental services to patients. Patients can make appointments to either office at their convenience to see the dentist of their choice. Both offices are similarly equipped.

* The professional staff includes the dentists, hygienists, dental mechanics, and administrative staff

(receptionist, billing clerk, and office manager).

* Each Family Dental office has a waiting area served by a receptionist who uses a computer to check in patients, schedule one of the examination rooms, and answer the phone. The waiting room has a door opening to the outside. A second door admits patients into the rest of the facility. Background music plays inside the waiting area. There is also a large aquarium on display.

* Each examination area is partitioned off from the adjacent ones. Each has a computer and LCD screen used to pull up patient information and record new dental data such as x-ray interpretations, examination and test results, and procedures done for the patient. A low level sound masking system is installed in this area.

* After their treatment the patient visits the billing clerk’s desk, which of course has a computer and a printer. Here patients pay (cash co-pay, credit card, or check), insurance information is verified, and an appointment is made. This clerk also mails out postcard appointment reminders, and answers the phone.

* The Family Dental dentists share a private office that has a computer and a printer. Here they can review patient data, access the Internet, and exchange email with their patients, colleagues, and acquaintances.

* A database server containing patient data sits in a closet, next to a small tape library used for backup.

Next to it sits a VPN server, firewall/router, and DSL modem connected to the Internet. The VPN server

accepts incoming connections from the dentist’s home computers. It also provides a permanent VPN connection between the North and South Offices. In this way, all patient data is available at all times at either office.

* Most patient data is stored electronically on the database server, but some data such as x-rays and third party labs results are still in physical form. Family Dental also depends on third party service providers to build crowns, braces, false teeth, soft dental protectors, and such. Information is exchanged with service providers using telephone, fax, letter, and email.

* The network infrastructure’s management and maintenance is outsourced.

* Family Dental also maintains an informative web site to advertise its practice. The site is remotely hosted.
