Four questions regarding capital budgeting:
Please follow the following additional instructions when completing the assignment:
- – Cash flows occur annually. In other words, you do not need to make a midyear adjustment or adjust the interest rate.
- – Round dollar amounts to the nearest dollar (in other words, no decimals).
- – With the exception of Question 2, you may use Excel for all your calculations and to create thetables showing your results.
- – Please make your tables fit on one page. Choosing a slightly smaller font size as well as Word’s“Auto Fit to Page” feature can help you with this. Additionally, you may present the tables inlandscape format if necessary.
- Question 1 – Financial PlanningYou are considering going to graduate school to get your Ph.D. You anticipate that your studies will take five years to complete, that you will receive a full tuition waiver, but that you will incur living expenses of $35,000 a year while in grad school. As part of your studies you will also work as a research assistant for which you will be paid $25,000 a year. The annual interest rate on your savings account is 3.5%. Assume that there are no taxes and that you do not want to apply for a student loan. How much will you need to invest in your savings account today in order to afford graduate school? Present your results in a table similar to the one below.

Need a discussion post (at least 250 words) on the following:
1. Alexander the Great remained a celebrated figure in history among many people, especially among Romans, Greeks/Byzantines, Islamic and more recently in the West (look at the first four images from the hellenistic powerpoint). Why was he and his accomplishments so celebrated by people so different and far removed from himself? Can you think of any modern Americans celebrated by people in other parts of the world?
NEEDS A CITATION FROM THIS BOOK (I DO NOT HAVE IT): Western Civilization: A Brief History, Vol. I: to 1715, Jackson Spielvogel, 9th ed.
Peer replies (at least 75 words):
What were the prevailing Greek Philosophical schools which were dominant during the Hellenistic Era? Which do you find to be the most appealing? Why?
Two philosophical schools of Greek were Epicureanism and Stoicism. Epicureanism believed that gods existed but didn’t play an active role in the world. The one true god was the pursuit of pleasure. People were allowed to follow their self interest and their main goal is that everyone is happy. Pleasure was determined by having freedom from emotional turmoil and freedom from worry. This was achieved by reliving yourself from public activities and politics. Later on Epicureanism was eventually forgotten and Stoicism became the dominant philosophy of the era. This philosophy was also concerned with how individuals find happiness but insisted that happiness came from virtue. They believed that following the divine will and following the laws that the gods established to run the world would bring individuals happiness. People who accepted the divine law gained peace within themselves. Public service and being involved in politics was seen as honorary.
I find Epicureanism to be them most appealing. I like how its main focus is finding happiness and that it didn’t have to be because of gods. I also like how politics and public activities are seen as a negative thing. In today’s society a lot of drama is caused by politics and eliminating them would bring more happiness to more people. It is also a good thing to not worry or have emotional burdens in Epicureanism and I also like that.

Alexander the Great was the son of King Philip II of Macedonia, in which Alexander became king after Philips death. “Alexander led the Macedonias and Greeks on a spectacular conquest of the Persian empire, opening the door to spread of Greek culture throughout the ancient near East” (Spielvogel 74). Alexanders success gave many jobs and new kingdoms for many more people to live in, which is a big reason why he is valued so much. “By the spring 333 B.C.E. the entire half western half of Asia minor was in Alexander’s hands, and the Ionian Greek cities of western Asia minor had been liberated from the Persian oppressor” (Spielvogel 76). Alexander had multiple victories where his men were out numbered but they were still able to prevail in battle. Alexander once had to deal with his troops rebelling in the desert when there was no water and ver hot. Alexander was given the last of the very little water and he dumped it into the sand to give his troops motivation to keep fighting. This is why many loved him because of his true character and not acting like he was superior to anyone. Alexander also took over India entirely by year 327 B.C.E. (Spielvogel 77). Someone comparable in todays time is Steve Jobs. He was able to create his brand and have product sold every in the entire world. Apple is one of the most popular companies and it continues on today as iPhones and other products are owned by people in every single part of the world. He was someone who dominated the market and his legacy is still continued today.

its my lab report Science Assignment Help
Conclusions drawn from scientific investigations are influenced by both controllable and uncontrollable errors. The purpose of this lab was to quantify fluctuations in measurements and consider these when interpreting data outcomes. Answer the questions below in your lab records to conclude today’s lab.
- State your general claim from lab 01. In lab 01 your group made a claim which addressed the research question “What affects the period of a pendulum?” Restate that claim here. Be sure to indicate the conditions for which the claim holds. This includes the values held constant (CVs) as well as the range of values tested for the IV.
- Cite the evidence that supports your claim.
- Consider a hypothetical exercise. Two students wish to reduce the random error in measuring the period in their pendulum experiment. Which student do you agree with? Explain your reasoning.
- Consider a second hypothetical exercise. Two students measure the mass of a ring three times using the same balance and get slightly different values: 17.46 g, 17.42 g, 17.44 g. They wish to minimize any experimental error. What might they do? Choose the best option below and explain your reasoning for this selection.
- This variation is due to random error. The students should take more data. Random errors can be reduced by averaging over a large number of observations.
- This variation is due to systematic error. The students should take more data. Systematic errors can be reduced by averaging over a large number of observations.
- There is no way to minimize experimental error.
The data collected during lab 02 may be used to modify your claim, if warranted. The following questions serve as a guide for evaluating all evidence that supports your original or revised claim.
- i.How confident are you in the values obtained for each measurement of the period? Be sure to comment on the sizeof the ranges of uncertainty (error bars) for these measurements.
- ii.Consider whether values on graph are equivalent. It is common convention to draw error bars as ±σ (one standard deviation). If the ranges of uncertainty for two values overlap, then a claim can be made that the values may bethe same. One can’t know for sure that the values are the same! If there is no overlap, however, then a claim can be made that the values are different.
- iii.Consider the best fit line or curve on each graph. How confident are you that your line or curve accurately describes the relationship between your IV and DV?
Your graphs from lab 01 now include error bars. In light of the discussion about overlapping error bars, does your group’s general claim made during lab 01 still hold? If it is no longer true, state a revised claim here.
Student 1:I believe that we should measure the time for the pendulum to swing for 6 complete cycles and then divide by 6 to get the time for one single period. This will reduce the overall random error associated with starting and stopping the stopwatch.
Student 2: I disagree that this is the best approach. The pendulum will slow down enough by the 6thswing that the measured time will no longer be accurate.
Be sure you have explained your reasoning for the selection above.
Check your lab records for completeness using the rubric below:
Excellent (12) |
Limited (6-11) |
Missing (0-5) |
|
Responses to the Final Wrap Up Questions |
Thoroughly addresses questions and provides evidence, if requested, for: a.State claim and conditions for claim from lab 01 (2) b.Cite evidence that supports claim (6) 1. Evaluate data and observed patterns i. Discuss confidence in measurements ii. Use error bars to determine whether values on graph are equivalent. Modify claim(s), if warranted. iii. Discuss confidence in trend line c.Hypothetical exercise (2) d.Second hypothetical exercise (2) |
Some of the question responses are missing, are not complete, or are incorrect. |
A significant number of question responses are missing or are incorrect. |
Checkpoint 3! Be ready to discuss with your lab instructor how the inclusion of uncertainty impacts claims and/or one’s confidence in those claims. Also, be ready to discuss your responses to the two hypothetical exercises.
