BIO 201L Straightline University The Muscular System Tendons and Ligaments Lab Report Science Assignment Help

Your response to every question should be written entirely in your own words. The entire purpose of the lab worksheets is to demonstrate an understanding of the concepts presented in each lab activity. Copying-and-pasting or changing only a word or two from a sentence in your textbook or an internet source does not serve this purpose as it is not considered writing in your own words.

Here are some ways to avoid inadvertently plagiarizing your responses:

  • Be sure you fully understand the question that is being asked.
  • If you do not know how to answer, read through your source materials until you have a solid grasp of how to respond.
  • Close out of your source materials and wait at least one hour before drafting your response.
  • Do not refer to your sources as you write your response. This will help ensure that your answer reflects your own original voice and style.

2) Use complete sentences

Proper grammar and sentence structure isn’t only for English courses. Please remember that this lab is a college-level course, so your answers to the lab worksheet questions should be written in complete sentences.

3) Put your name in the background of every picture you take

Almost every lab worksheet you complete will require you to insert a photo of your dissection or experiment, so please plan ahead and write your name on a piece of paper before starting. Seeing your name in the background of your photo allows our graders to verify that you’re actually completing the required lab experiments. Failure to adequately demonstrate that you’ve completed these experiments yourself will prevent you from successfully completing this course.

Please post your response as a reply to this post. You should have at least two paragraphs addressing the Discussion Spark. You are not required to do additional research or cite the textbook for Discussion Spark posts. If, however, you refer to the textbook or other sources in your post, be sure to cite them appropriately.

This week, we will examine the history of social change movements in the United States during the 1980-2000 period. While earlier movements often focused on issues that directly impacted the everyday lives and well-being of Americans, a growing number of movements during the 1980-2000 period asked Americans to consider the global impact of their activities and the well-being of people in other parts of the world. Examples of these included the modern environmental movement, the anti-nuclear movement, and the anti-sweatshop movement.

What do you think might be some of the unique challenges that more globally-oriented movements encounter when trying to generate interest in their movement with the American people? If you were leading a more globally-oriented movement, how might you go about convincing average Americans to take an interest in your cause?

FAASTeam Small Plane Crashes for Further Research Case Analysis Presentation Writing Assignment Help

You are working for the Federal Aviation Administration’s Safety Team (FAASTeam). Your particular workgroup is preparing a presentation for the annual Pan American Safety Summit (PASS) that reports the findings of FAASTeam research documenting typical injuries in minor small plane crashes. Your supervisor has assigned you the specific task of reviewing and editing the presentation’s data visualizations. Your teammates are less experienced with presenting technical information, and you have a reputation for being a skilled designer.

Your supervisor, Margaret Farnsworth, sends you the graphics your teammates have developed in a memo that asks you to edit their work: “I want you to work with the graphics that Tiffany Marcus, Jacob Klochner, and Julia Yutani have developed for this year’s PASS conference.”

You ask Margaret what she is looking for in revisions to the graphics. “They’re good researchers,” she replies. “However, they don’t always choose the most appropriate kind of graphics. They also unnecessarily complicate their graphics with too much junk and fluff. Their graphics are difficult to read and to decipher. Please edit them for appropriateness and clarity.”

You find the following graphics attached to the memo:

Figure 1. Tiffany Marcus

Chart showing the distribution of the most common causes of small plane crashes.

Figure 2. Jacob Klochner

Chart showing how the use of restraint devices affect pilot’s risk of sustaining serious or fatal injuries in four body regions.

Figure 3. Julie Yutani

Graph showing the average number of moderate lower-extremity injuries occurring annually to pilots in minor small plane crashes when restraint devices are properly worn.

You send your colleagues a memo asking them what they are trying to convey in each graphic.

Tiffany Marcus replies, “In my graphic, I want to show the distribution of the most common causes of small plane crashes.”

Jacob Klochner replies, “I’m trying to show how the use of restraint devices affect pilots’ risk of sustaining serious or fatal injuries in four body regions. I want to show that arm injuries are slightly more likely when restraint devices are properly worn than without them, but that lower extremity injuries – the type that often leads to lifelong disabilities – are significantly lower.”

Julia Yutani replies, “I want to demonstrate the average number of moderate lower-extremity injuries occurring annually to pilots in minor small plane crashes when restraint devices are properly worn. I want to communicate the scope of the issue. I want people to know that an average total of 17,699 lower extremity injuries occur annually in small plane crashes involving mechanical error where the pilot is properly wearing their restraint device.”

You respond to Julia asking, “What type of injuries are ‘tib.plat’ and ‘tib.shaft?”

Julia replies, “They’re both types of injuries to the tibia, the lower leg.”

You thank your colleagues and tell them that you will have their graphics reviewed, edited, and ready for the presentation by the end of the week.

Cumberlands Disconnect Scholarly Research & Practical Application Discussion Computer Science Assignment Help

Have you ever felt that there is a disconnect between scholarly research and practical application? While this research took place quite a while ago, Parnin and Orso (2011) identified that in thirty years of scholarly research on debugging programming code there were five research papers with human participants to test the theories.

Think about that for a minute. How do you generate research results without testing it with analysis? What constitutes testing?

  • For this week’s discussion find a scholarly research article available in the University of the Cumberlands’ library and less than 10 years old.
  • The article you identify must include research that is practically applicable. (The research article cannot be theoretical in nature.)
  • The research must include everything you would need in order to repeat the research.
  • The research must include testing the research with participants. The participants cannot be the authors of the article. For example, the five research articles Parnin and Orso (2011) identified in their research. The participants do not need to be people; they could be parts, equipment, or products.

Once you find this scholarly research article discuss the following in your post:

  • Briefly identify the objective of the research in the selected article.
  • How was the data tested? What are the assumptions of this test? Are the assumptions defined and discussed in the article? Were there enough participants to make the results meaningful?
  • What is it about this research that separates it from research that does not include participants?
  • In the context of the research article, discuss the impact of applied research in terms of generalizability. Does the reduced generalizability reduce the importance of this applied research? Why or why not? What is the generalizability of this research?
  • Example post:Objective:The objective of the research conducted by Parnin and Orso (2011) is to understand the effectiveness of a debugging tool when programmers use it to validate and correct faults in programming code.Test method, assumptions, sample sizeAfter conducting the experiments, the data was tested with a two-tailed t-test (Panrin & Orso, 2011). The researchers did not identify if the data met the statistical assumptions of the t-test: the assumption of normality, the assumption of homogeneity of variance, and the assumption of independence (Sauro & Lewis, 2016, Chapter 5).The between groups or two-tailed t-test is a method of analysis that includes the sample size in it’s calculation, therefore should meaningful results be determined with this method of analysis, the sample size would be sufficient (Sauro & Lewis, 2016, Chapter 5). Parnin and Orso (2011) evaluated the groups for a significant difference to test each of the hypotheses. There were several tests, the first two discussed in Parnin and Orso’s work are discussed:
  • 1) Experts debug faster with debugging software with Tetris – t-test did not identify a significant difference between groups, (evidence fails to reject the null hypothesis; Parnin & Orso, 2011, para.5.1)
    2) Experts debug faster with debugging software with NanoXML – results were significant (Parnin & Orso, 2011, para. 5.1)What makes this applied research necessary for this topic?Debugging programming code is an human and machine interactive process when using a debugging tool. To my knowledge, no one has successfully created completely autonomous debugging software. Therefore, theoretical concepts or author-tested research is not capable of capturing the immense amount of possibilities and complexity of human behavioral research.Generalizability: impact of applied research, importance, and extension of this researchThe generalizability of Parnin & Orso’s (2011) research is minimal; it does not extend beyond this research sample. The sample only included graduate students, so reasonably these results cannot be extended to apply to all programmers. Only two different programs were analyzed, with one debugging tool. Therefore it is not reasonably extensible to all or even more programming languages. That same limitation in external validity exists for the debugging tool; this article’s results are not generalizable to all debugging software. This style of research is formally referred to as applied research. Theoretical and applied research are both essential to broadening a field of knowledge. The generalizability of applied research is significantly reduced when compared to the theoretical concept. However, applied research is particularly beneficial in a practical environment (de Gooyert & Größler, 2019). While this research does not extend beyond this study, it does generate numerous opportunities for future research.
