My project is comparing the trash from 2 people in an apartment to one person in a dorm and to compare lifestyles.
1. My data collection is going pretty smoothly. I thought I might run into some difficulties because I was relying on someone else to collect data, but it hasn’t become a problem. It has been a bit overwhelming to keep track of multiple peoples trash, but I’ve managed.
2. I’ve learned that the most common type of trash thrown away is dealing with food in some way. I thought that I was pretty good at recycling most things but lots of food packaging and containers cannot be recycled so they end up going to the trash. I also noticed that a lot of the trash get thrown away during meal times.
3. I’ve collected all my data on an excel sheet and organized it by date, time, item in trash, and the code. I plan on doing a podcast of some sort to discuss my data and hopefully getting some input from the person living in the dorm. If I can’t get him to speak directly for the podcast, I will probably ask him some question to add into my recording.
