Select a grade level “Class Profile” relevant to your field of study and imagine you are the classroom teacher for these students. Review the profile and formulate a small group of students with whom you will implement RTI strategies. Using this group as an example, create a 15-20 slide digital presentation providing an introduction to the RTI for new educators.

Within your presentation, provide:

An overview of RTI and MTSS, including an explanation of the tiers and how these systems can be used to enhance and adapt instruction.

An explanation of the role of the child study team.

A discussion and examples of the types of data collected throughout the RTI process.

An explanation of what factors determine appropriate student placement within the RTI tiers. Refer to your example student group to illustrate specific ideas.

Five examples of research-based intervention strategies that you will use with students in your example student group who are struggling in English language, arts, or mathematics. Include justification for each intervention strategy.

Description of the data that would be collected as part of implementing the research-based intervention strategies. Explain how this data could be used to evaluate the effectiveness of the RTI strategies and how this information could be used as justification for testing for possible special education eligibility.

You have recently been promoted to Health Services Manager at Three Mountains Regional Hospital, a small hospital located in a mid-size city in the Midwest. Three Mountains is a general medical and surgical facility with 400 beds. Last year there were approximately 62,000 emergency visits and 15,000 admissions. More than 6,000 outpatient and 10,000 inpatient surgeries were performed.

Three Mountains was recently in the news after employee emails were published in which patients were discussed in very negative terms, although patient names were not used. The employees that sent these emails were fired. The CEO and the Board of Directors has tasked you with developing an intake packet for new patients that will reestablish patient trust in the facility, employees, and staff. The patient packet will address new patient concerns by including information about HIPAA, informed consent, a confidential health history report, and a living will. The new packet will also include the values of the organization and a code of ethics.

Your intake packet will start with the Hospital’s Code of Ethics that includes at least 10 ethical points. The code of ethics should include (at a minimum):

• Patient relations
• Physician activities
• Billing for services
• Political activities
• Conflict of interest
• Communication, including social media
• Privacy

The Code of Ethics should be submitted in bullet format in a Word document with an introduction. APA formatting for the ethical points and proper grammar is required.

Upon completion of your code of ethics, please prepare a PowerPoint presentation (or other shareable Webware/software you prefer) with narration in which you explain each ethical point and its relevance in the healthcare industry with examples to the CEO, so that she can answer questions from the Board.

1. The PowerPoint should have a minimum of 5 slides and a maximum of 12.
2. Describe each ethical point in the Code of Ethics.
3. Use the notes area on each slide as needed to expand on the key points.
4. You may use a free screen capture site such as Screencast-O-Matic to record a video of your presentation. Screencast-O-Matic is a site and program that can perform screen desk and audio capture up to 15 minutes for free, and can be utilized on a Windows or Mac computer. (Note: You can use another, similar program if you prefer. Screencast-O-Matic is only a suggestion). Make sure that both your voice and the PowerPoint slides are captured on the video.

Your audio presentation should include an introduction, a concise discussion of each slide, and a conclusion. The presentation should demonstrate your overall knowledge of the content, pronunciation of words, organization, proper recording, professionalism, and clarity.

Your presentation should be 10 minutes or less. Be sure to include the following:

• Include a link to the location of your live video on the last slide of your PowerPoint presentation.
• Make sure to use audience specific language and tone in your PowerPoint. Remember, you would be presenting this to the CEO of your facility.

Discussion: Selection of a Statistical Analysis Approach

Though data analysis occurs after the study has
completed a data collection stage, the researcher needs to have in mind
what type of analysis will allow the researcher to obtain an answer to a
research question. The researcher must understand the purpose of each
method of analysis, the characteristics that must be present in the
study for the design to be appropriate and any weaknesses of the design
that might limit the usefulness of the study results. Only then can the
researcher select the appropriate design. Choosing the appropriate
design enables the researcher to claim the data that is potential
evidence that provides information about the relationship being studied.
Notice that it is not the statistical test which tells us that research
is valid, rather, it is the research design. Social workers must be
aware of and adjust any limitations of their chosen design that may
impact the validity of the study.

To prepare for this Discussion, review the handout, A Short Course in Statistics.
If necessary, locate and review online resources concerning internal
validity and threats to internal validity. Then, review the “Social Work
Research: Chi Square” case study located in this week’s resources.
Consider the confounding variables, that is, factors that might explain
the difference between those in the program and those waiting to enter
the program.

By Day 3

Post an interpretation of the
case study’s conclusion that “the vocational rehabilitation intervention
program may be effective at promoting full-time employment.” Describe
the factors limiting the internal validity of this study, and explain
why those factors limit the ability to draw conclusions regarding cause
and effect relationships.
