Decisions are a combination of our past experiences, present occurrences and future projections. That said, the U.S education has greatly affected my desired role in education. Social economic positions of families is relative to the economy of the country. Therefore, I would be right to conclude that the challenge with the social economic position of families is a common problem in other countries. In particular, this challenge would be more paramount in developing countries as opposed to the developed economies. Reason being the economy in developing countries is not stable enough to know how to cushion its people once the going gets tough. On the brighter side however, the challenge facing the education system in the U.S can be used as a pilot model to teach developing countries on how to cope with such.

Lastly, a higher global growth trickles down to individual countries due to increased export spending (Berliner, 2014). This loosely means that growth in the U.S means growth in dependent developing countries. In addition, countries should try and find a middle ground as far as education is concerned to ensure that its people are offered the same opportunities.

The non-Western country I chose to research is Africa. African countries have been politically independent since the late 1950s but they have not done much to free their school curricula from remnants of colonial education. The current postcolonial African school curriculum ignores the voices, indigenous knowledge and cultures of African indigenous populations. Students, in Africa, experience barriers in learning because of the dissonance between the school curriculum and their cultural experiences. What the schools teach, and how teachers disseminate and transmit knowledge does not reflect the cultural symbolic conventions (collaborative and participatory learning) and representations (knowledge constructs, symbols and cultural beliefs) of the students’ cultural experiences (Shizha, E. 2014).

In America, generally speaking, a great deal of emphasis has been placed on how achieving diversity is important but far too little of emphasis has been placed on why achieving diversity is important.
