the traditional teaching strategies, psychology homework help Humanities Assignment Help
Discuss which of the traditional teaching strategies mentioned in the text (accelerated, compacting, enrichment, independent studies) you would use with that child. Be sure to justify your choice of strategy by using evidence from your peer’s initial response that leads you to believe this would be the best strategy for this child. In addition, discuss what the positive outcomes of using this strategy with this child would be.
While sitting in and observing kindergarten classroom, I noticed a six year old boy by the name of Trey. It was very obvious that he was bored with the lesson being taught. In the class they watched an alphabet video while the other children sang along Trey just played with the papers on his table. The class has begun learning how to sound out and spell three letter words. While the other children were busy sounding out words trying to figure out the words on the paper in front of them, Trey was able to read full sentences and big words. When the teacher passed out worksheets, all the children waited for her to read the directions to complete the assignment, but all the kids at Treys table were start before everyone else because Trey reads them the directions. At his table there are three other students and Trey is like the leader, he picks up on things very fast so he helps the other children at his table. Another boy at his table was getting frustrated because he didn’t understand what he was suppose to do after the teacher gave them directions. The child seem embraced and dint want to ask for additional direction from the teacher, he just sat there quietly. Trey noticed that the boy seemed lost so he explained the worksheet to the him, giving him step by step instruction until he was able to finish the work sheet.

Today I observe a kindergarten class in a daycare center setting. There was one little girl her name is Ellie and she is 5 years old. I had a chance to observe her in the morning part of the day. In the morning the children have free choice until everyone comes in. free choice the children are allowed to play in all the different areas like book area, art area, housekeeping/drama area just to name a few. When Ellie comes in she goes straight to the book area first she would sit their reading books and then she would have questions about the story. One of Ellie’s academic that I observed in the classroom was that she likes to read advance material and can understand what she read. Another academic characteristic Ellie exhibits is she has a good memory. She also loves to draw and singing. The two areas she would spin most of her free time in are the art area and music area. Ellie is independent and creative she would create her own songs. In the article I have read it says that a child shows different and advance behavior from other kids of the same age. Also some kids show their gift from age of one (Raise smart kid, 2015). When Ellie is in the music area with some of the other children she would make up a song and teach it to the children and they would sing it. When she is in the art area she put so much attention to the picture she is drawing form the beginning to the end. Reference Characteristics of a gifted child (2015) |

Intellectual Disabilities
Discussion 2 Week 4
Prader Willi Syndrome: a genetic disorder that causes obesity, intellectual disability, and shortness in height. There is no cure but treatment helps. It requires a medical diagnosis; chronic and can last for years or lifelong.
Typical classroom behaviors: Delayed motor and speech abilities. They may resist physical activities and even throw tantrums if their demands are not met. Children with Prader Willi Syndrome lack social development, may fall asleep in class, or even exhibit difficult behaviors.
I chose the grade level early childhood education and the academic skill is recognizing long vowels through reading stories.
Classroom modifications: In a classroom where a child may have a tantrum due to being diagnosed with Prader Willi Syndrome would be the portion of working in pairs. I would be sure to be in close proximity just in case the child began to act out. Instead of a sit down activity such as word cards I would modify the activity to maybe a vowel toss to encourage physical activity to ward against obesity.

Assignment Details——THIS IS JUST A DISCUSSION QESTION NOT SUPPOSED TO BE A PAPER
Note: The following companies and characters are fictional.
A very prestigious events planning firm, Verlon, has approached John Sanders, vice president of Echo Echo Industries, to secure a contract as a vendor. The president of Verlon Events Planning would like Echo Echo Industries to consider their company for planning Echo Echo’s several corporate upcoming conventions. Echo Echo hosts 3 large events per year, which results in the awarding of more than $500,000 dollars in contracts. David Smith is in charge of researching suppliers and vendors for Echo Echo Industries to ensure compliance with their ethics department. One of the ethical stipulations for awarding contracts is that agreements cannot be awarded to relatives of upper-management employees. Vice president Sanders, David’s boss, recommends Verlon catering as a choice, and states to David, “There is not a need to do research on Verlon. I can vouch for the company.” He also states that David would be up for a promotion if the upcoming events are successful. David is excited about this news; he was unemployed for 2 years before landing his present position 6 months ago. A promotion would certainly help him catch up on bills and provide for his family of four. However, out of curiosity about the Verlon company, David conducts some research. He discovers that the Verlon Event Planning’s president is the ex-sister-in-law to his boss. At the monthly general finance meeting for approving contracts, the finance manager, William Young, asks David two questions: “Is the company reputable?” and “Would there be a conflict of interest according to our company policies?” Vice president Sanders and Young look in David’s direction for the answers.
Consider this ethical dilemma, and then answer the following:
Part 1
-
From a deontological perspective, what should David do in this situation?
-
Should David have discussed the research findings with his boss before the meeting? Why? What is at risk here?
-
What ramifications, if any would David answers have for the companies? For David?
-
What library sources might you offer to support your positions here? How do they differ from your ideas?
Part 2
-
Have you ever been placed in a situation such as this one? What decisions did you have to make? What was the outcome?
-
Discuss with 2 or more classmates their positions and responses to the ethical dilemma presented.
