Addiction is a malfunction of the natural processes the brain uses to seek out things that promote success and survival. Therefore, to understand addiction, you must first understand how the brain works. By the end of this module, you should be able to:

– Describe neurotransmission and the natural reward pathway of the brain

– Explain how addictive agents can interfere with normal brain function and how use of these agents can cause changes to brain structure

– Identify the genetic and environmental risk factors for addiction

– Recognize how research on addiction is conducted

Module 4 – SLP

Operations Decisions

SLP 4 continues with your imaginary company focused on supply chain management

Session Long Project

Continue using your fictitious company from the previous SLPs, and
continue to develop the company profile and operating information. This
is a very open-ended SLP and it will give you an opportunity to expand
you knowledge and also allow creativity in providing the solution to the
challenges.

Your company is faced with an increase in demand.

Identify how your company uses forecasting for purposes of capacity
planning and how you can utilize productivity, inventory control, and
quality improvements to meet this new demand (Operations decisions).
Review different kinds of capacity and capacity constraints. How is
forecasting used to generate short-term and long-term information about
demand that affects capacity? What are some options that the company has
in terms of increasing its capacity?

NOTE: in retail businesses with physical locations where
customers are served, capacity can be measured in terms of size of the
facility and throughout of customers. What is your current Max Possible
throughput – how many customers can you serve with your current
capacity? Often there is a trade-off in size of the facility for
backroom inventory or kitchen, displaying inventory to customers or
seating, and customer space such as aisles and checkouts or bar space
and waiting areas. You should consider all of these in your capacity
analysis

This paper should be approximately 3–5 pages in length
counting the introduction, body, and summary. You should include
references and cite them properly in the paper. Generally, at least
three references should be used.

SLP Assignment Expectations

  • First discuss the recap of your company and add any additional
information about it that will add necessary and/or interesting
information as background to the discussion of capacity and forecasting.
  • Identify at least two types of capacity and the constraints that act on them now and in the future.
  • Discuss the types of forecasting methods that your company uses. How do they generate short-term and long-term demand forecasts?
  • Determine and discuss some options that the company has in terms of
relaxing or eliminating constraints and increasing capacity in the two
areas you have identified. Which of these options would you recommend
    and why?
  • There is no right or wrong response so be creative and use your knowledge to compile the paper.

Read and review all of the references and resources on productivity, processes, inventory, quality, and capacity.

You should look for additional references about the type of
business you are operating with specific information about improving
capacity and using forecasting.

A communications plan is written to define the communication requirements needed to successfully execute a project and describe how information will be distributed. Your communications management plan should consist of the following elements:

  •  what information needs to be communicated—include the level of detail and format;
  •  how information will be communicated (e.g., meetings, email, telephone, web portal);
  •  when information will be distributed—how often and whether communications will be formal or informal;

In addition to listing thethree risks shown in the “Running Case”, list five additional risks for the risk register; a total of eight risks should be listed. Make certain to include negative and positive risks.Part 2: Plot the risks identified in Part 1 of this assignment on the probability/impact matrix. Use a 10-point scale to rank the probability and impact of each risk on meeting project objectives. One (1) represents the lowest risk value, and ten (10) represents the highest risk value. Use a risk calculation of probability times impact to determine the risk value (e.g., if the probability of a risk occurring is 2, and risk impact is 5, then the risk value would equal 10). Modify your risk register created in Part 1 to include a risk value column between the impact and status columns, and enter the risk value on your register.

Week 6: Where Does the Time Go?

It’s pretty common to hear people say, “I don’t know how I am going to get this all done.” We may think we manage our time well and know how to multitask, but there are always tips and tricks that help us make the most of our time.

For example, every day after school, one mother usually waited for her son 10-15 minutes in the parking lot of the elementary school. She realized that sitting there was simply a waste of her time. She then chose to log in to her online class with her cell phone and read her textbook during this time. At the end of the week, she realized that the time in the car was 50-75 minutes of reading time!

Likewise, a father carried 10 flashcards each day in his pocket. He took 5 minutes on each of his breaks at work to review the cards. He found that he retained so much more information by taking 5 minutes here and there to review concepts. Tips like this help students balance school, work, family, and other life demands.

In this post, you will:

  1. Explain time management in your own words.
  2. Explain how a person truly knows if he or she manages time well. What evidence supports the idea that someone manages time well?
  3. Provide at least two time-saving tips that you use/ have used at school, at work, or in life, and explain how they have helped you.
  4. Explain how “I need” statements can help with time management.
