Ch -2

1-

The three elements of persuasive writing are source credibility, logical argument and emotional appeal. For example if i take emotional appeal , i would focus more on visual part, for instance if i was writing on behalf of unicef or any charitable organization asking for donation, i would use pictures of the affected area and the situations of the persons where the disaster or anything harsh has occured, for example if i was asked to collect a donation for somalian kids, i would use their picture which shows their living situations and how they are affected by hunger, and then use a line such as ‘ he’s starving, we are not’ , to emotionally appeal the people .

For example if it was an sport app, i would use a famous sports celebrity to give the review on the app becasue his likely to appeal the audience because of his image in sports world

3-

1)- For the non-profit food bank , i would use a person from the hunger affected area and interview him that how he is surving wihtout or with one minimum meal per day,and how is it to find food which is affordable or free, this would make the people to donate the food which is being wasted or the leftovers for the less fortunate ones and also encourage people who suffer hunger to approch the organization

2)- For a group seeking immigration reform, i would use people who have entered legally in the country with abiding the proper laws, to stop the other people who try entering illegally through different ways, i would use the people who have entered legally to encourage others also to enter the country legally by telling them how safe it is

3)-For an over the counter drug for allerges, i would use people who do not have time to go to doctors because of there busy schedule ,people who cannot afford going to doctors or where there are no pharmacy to give their interview about the effectivness for the drug and how useful and time consuming it is.

Testimonial: various beauty creams around us, which is being sold are usually been advertised by famous female celebrity in which they encourage other females to use it too.

Yes i would agree that advocacy requires framework, because as it provides a useful starting point to critically evaluate the situation and provides a proffesional benchmark to explain and justify decisions made in particular situation.

Ch-3

1-

I agree with this statement because a PR writer must figure out what techniques can grab the attention of an audience and how to write the headlines. In addition, they need to be able to tackle those challenges mentioned in the above article.

2-

This is to make their audience a part of the story and emphasize the importance of traditions which is important for the majority of people.

3-

To find a newsworthy story , from the internal sources i would research on the company’s important papers, periodicals,cliping files and other materials to get the in debt information, and from the external sources to find the story i would see the ongoing trends on social media, and talk to the company’s staff, people and use the internet to get the regular updates on news and information.

4-

I would decide a suitable environment to conduct the brainstorming session, and avoid any distraction such as mobile phones,ipads or any other electronic devices. Invite some important people who would have answers which i intend to ask, set a time limit , allow everyone to pen down their ideas prior to the session so that their is no time lost talking about just one or few ideas and have a person in charge of note taking to take down all the ideas which come.

To introduce the gluten free pizza, i would do a publicity stunt such as buy a gluten-free pizza and get a chance to win a car, everytime someone buys the gluten-free pizza they enter the draw to win the car.

Ch-4

1-

I think the public relations personnel are dependent on media as journalists cover all the news of the organization, and help PR decide which news is newsworthy or not, vice versa the journalists also need PR as they are one of the major sources of news, which provide news releases, features, planned events and tips to the media.

2-

The friction can be reduced if both parties work mutually, understand each other problems and solve together, PR should give their news to the media on time and avoid poorly written material, shotgun distribution and their lack of access to media. On the other hand media should avoid constant flux, failure to contact the organization and sensationalism.

3-

I think its much better rather than giving expensive gifts to the reporters which seems like giving bribery for using their news releases and giving good reviews about their content, if organizations intend to give gifts to the reporters they should rather use something which looks like given by the organization, like promotional t shirts, pens, mugs and diaries. Which is given to all their clients and not just special people, this would mean more efficient in terms of business dealing.

I think its an good idea because it can an inside look to journalists on what you are trying to convey however it can be costly as taking care of each and everything of media personnel is not easy plus it can be a risk too if the review is bad.

5-

As i prepare for the interview i would keep in mind what key points or messages i want to convey , anticipate questions and plan answers , prepare for the worst and avoid memorizing your statements. I would use the following tips while answering to the journalist, skip the jargon, use transition in my answers, get to the point in the beginning, not get defensive and repeat the key messeges.

6-

These are very extreme situations for any spokespersons as these situations put the career on the stake of a spokesperson. I would quit the job as it would also ruin my reputation in the market, and in future when the company would face a deal on spreading misleading news, it would affect me in many ways mainly considering the legal matter, instead of spreading false news , i would quit as it will be the best option rather than taking risk.
