In this case scenario, the expectancy violation under consideration is a negative

In this case scenario, the expectancy violation under consideration is a negative violation. A negative expectancy violation refers to a type of violation where the subject experiences a negative reaction to the violation (). In this case, I had the expectation that my friend will help me move. But then she forgot and instead spent her day with her boyfriend. As a result, she violated my expectations and in the process made me experience frustration which is a negative experience.

The conflict resolution strategy being used in this case is avoiding. Avoiding conflict resolution strategy entails dismissing the existence of the problem in the hope that the problem will dissipate (). My friend avoids acknowledging that there is a problem because she never kept her promise and avoids talking about it. Instead, she offers to help me with moving the following day. I on the other hand do not state directly that I am angry and instead use the word ‘kinda’ which shows that I am avoiding having a candid talk about why I may be angry. I shrug the problem off by expressing my failure to acknowledge my anger towards my friend.

The conflict management strategy that we should have use instead is collaborating. In this case, the parties involved do not only look to satisfy themselves, they also look to satisfy the other party by reaching a compromise.[supanova_question]

order to master an academic field, you must carefully read and engage with the most important books in that field. The book review is a common academic exercise, and virtually every major newspaper, magazine, and academic journal has a book review section. A good book review fairly and accurately explains the argument the book’s author has made, highlighting key themes, including the book’s strengths or weaknesses, its central assumptions, or its most important contributions to the scholarly conversation.
