write a research paper which includes between 5 and 10 References/Cited-Works (a majority dated 2015 or newer) of which 2 must be Peer-Reviewed. Highlight the Peer-Reviewed works (in Yellow) on the Reference/Works-Cited last page.

Once the paper is completed, add an Overview to the Introduction of the paper. The Overview must contain at least one Hypothesis and a Synopsis of what is contained in the paper. For this paper, a Hypothesis is a statement you believe to be true based on the research you conducted. As an example: “Small businesses are less likely to conduct a thorough risk assessment”.

The quality and thoroughness of the paper, as defined in the rubric, will determine the grade assigned. Papers containing the minimum number of references and/or minimum number of pages will most likely not earn a high grade.

Criteria Ratings Pts

This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeAcademic Understanding & Application

30.0 pts

Excellent

The essay is lively, well-paced, interesting, and even exciting. The paper has style. Everything seems to fit the thesis exactly. Reading the paper, we can feel a mind at work. The essay is proof that the author has a true mastery of core concepts pertaining to the topic.

23.0 pts

Proficient

The reader of the essay knows exactly what the author wants to say. It is well organized, it presents a worthwhile and interesting idea, the idea is supported by sound evidence, and contains discussion of core concepts, all presented in a neat and orderly way.

16.0 pts

Competent

The essay rarely uses evidence or core concepts well; sometimes it does not use evidence at all. The reader feels that the author has only a moderate grasp of the topic at hand.

9.0 pts

Novice

There is little indication that the writer understands the material being presented, but there are some attempts at incorporating core concepts to the topic at hand.

0.0 pts

Poor

There is no evidence that the writer has any comprehension of the topic at hand. There is no application of academic understanding present in the essay

30.0 pts

This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeOrganization & Structure

10.0 pts

Excellent

The essay is extremely well organized and thoughtful. The dialogue is structurally sound, interesting, and contributes to an inviting environment of inquiry. The reader is engaged and enthralled. The essay is easy to follow, has a natural flow, and is structurally sound in every manner. Excellent essays always have a thesis statement present. Readers are convinced that the writer cares for his or her ideas, and about the language that carries them. A bibliography and an APA format is always present.

8.0 pts

Proficient

The essay contributes to the topic with very clear, concise dialogue formatted in an easy to read style. The reader can follow and recognize the essay structure. Evidence is presented in a neat and orderly way. Some of the sentences may not be elegant, but they are clear, and in them thought flows naturally. The paragraphs may be unwieldy now and then, but they are organized around one main idea. The reader does not have to read a paragraph two or three times to understand the thought that the writer is trying to convey. It has a thesis that is limited and worth arguing. It does not contain unexpected digressions, and it ends by keeping the promise to argue and inform that the writer makes in the beginning of the essay. Rarely does this level of an essay not contain a bibliography or is in a format other than APA.

6.0 pts

Competent

The essay has a thesis, but it is vague and broad, or else it is uninteresting or obvious. It does not advance an argument that anyone might care to debate, such as; “Henry James wrote some interesting novels,” “I thought this paper was interesting,” “I really liked this article.”. Even if it has a clear and interesting thesis, a paper with insufficient supporting evidence is an average paper. The thesis in the writing assignment often hangs on some personal opinion. If the writer is a recognized authority, such an expression of personal taste may be noteworthy, but writers gain authority not merely by expressing their tastes but by justifying them. Personal opinion is often the engine that drives an argument, but opinion itself is never sufficient. It must be defended.

4.0 pts

Novice

There is some organization present, but overall the reader is left questioning the process and structure. The essay either has no thesis statement or else it has one that is strikingly vague, broad, or uninteresting. The paragraphs do not hold together; ideas do not develop from sentence to sentence. The paper usually repeats the same thoughts again and again, perhaps in slightly different language but often in the same words.

0.0 pts

Poor

The essay is very disorganized and hard to follow. There is no structure or formal organization to the essay.

10.0 pts

This criterion is linked to a Learning OutcomeGrammar, Mechanics, & Spelling

10.0 pts

Excellent

There are no grammatical, spelling, or mechanical errors in the entire work

8.0 pts

Proficient

The essay may have a proofreading error or two, or even a misspelled word, but the reader feels that these errors are the consequence of the normal accidents all good writers encounter. The essay is mechanically correct, although sometimes is lacking in a few minor components.

6.0 pts

Competent

Grammatical, mechanical, and spelling errors are present, but the reader is relatively able to follow the essay without too much difficulty.

4.0 pts

Novice

The essay is filled with mechanical faults, errors in grammar, lacks a bibliography, does not meet the minimum length, and contains numerous errors in spelling.

0.0 pts

Poor

There are extensive spelling errors, extensive grammatical errors, and mechanical errors throughout the work.

5 page Essay on MacCulloch, Reformation Humanities Assignment Help

Goal

Be able to identify and articulate the differences – and many times, the nuances – between key groups in the Reformation on critical issues.

Instructions

Step 1: Identify explain a contentious issue from the Reformation period one which at least two branches of Christians disagreed. Briefly describe your chosen issue and its relevance to the Christian life and/or faith.

Examples of such issues include but are not limited to the Eucharist, church governance, the role of Scripture, baptism, the sacraments, the afterlife, the nature of God, the role of art and music in worship, the organization or style of worship, etc. etc. etc.

Step 2: Identify the various groups who held different views on the issue, and describe how each group conceived of that issue (e.g., how was the Eucharist understood and practiced by Catholics, Lutherans, Zwinglians, and Anabaptists?). Be sure to clearly describe where they were in agreement with each other, and where they differed, as well as the consequences of that difference (e.g., different style of worship, inability to agree on other matters, etc.).

Step 3: In your conclusion, reiterate why your chosen issue was important to Christianity and how differences over this issue among different Christian groups affected the development of the Reformation.

Sources

You are also welcome to bring in additional scholarly sources, either primary or secondary, if you wish, but this is not required for this paper. Scholarly resources include academic books or articles, whether in print or through an online repository such as JSTOR or EBSCOhost. Scholarly sources do NOT include general websites, Wikipedia, Youtube, or other places where the accuracy of the information presented cannot be verified.

No matter which sources you draw from in your paper, I expect that you will include citations wherever you draw specific information from a particular source. You may use whatever citation style you are most familiar with (Chicago, MLA, APA, etc.) as long as you use it correctly and consistently.

Questions about citations and source usage may be directed to me via email or crowdsourced to the class in the Course Questions & Academic Exchange forum.

Format

5 full pages of text. You may go over or under this limit by ½ page before losing points. Times New Roman 12-point font or equivalent, double-spaced lines, 1 inch margins all around. Be sure to include your full name at the top of the page. Multiple spelling and grammar errors will result in a reduction of your grade accordingly, so please proofread your text before submitting it. I prefer submissions in Microsoft Word for ease of commenting but will accept other formats as necessary.

Grading

This assignment is worth 20% of your final course grade. You will be graded on a 20-point scale, with partial points possible. I will look for the following when grading you papers:

  • Correct formatting
  • Consistent and correct citations
  • Correct spelling and grammar
  • Accurate information and source usage
  • Logical organization of your thoughts
  • Nuance and clarity in identifying a critical issue and in describing the various positions taken on it among various groups during the Reformation period.
