Documentation includes eye witness accounts, photos, documentaries made by interviewing survivors, recorded accounts of survivors and soldiers, remaining concentration camps turned museums/memorials, and the extensive, detailed extermination records of Holocaust victims, recorded by the Germans themselves, at the time.

Why do you think Holocaust denial is still so prevalent today, in spite of all this data?

For the TOTW this week you had to speculate on why some people do not believe the Holocaust. For this week’s Data Exercise I would like you to survey as many people as you can about whether or not they believe in the Holocaust?

Gang prevention efforts are methods designed to keep susceptible youths from joining a gang in the first place (Delaney, 2013). Another approach is suppression (Delaney, 2013), in which law enforcement and judicial bodies attempt to punish existing gang members rather than rehabilitate them, as a deterrent to other members (Delaney, 2013). Treatment programs are designed to help rehabilitate gang members so that they can become positive members of society, rather than simply punishing them (Delaney, 2013). Considering the fact that the number of gangs, the amount of gang violence, and the fear that grips the community all continue to escalate, it is fair to conclude that most of these programs have been ineffective in reducing gang activity (Delaney, 2013). Write a 2-3 page paper discussing gang prevention, suppression, and treatment programs. Be sure to address the following:

• Discuss the difference between prevention and suppression of gang activity.
• Explain the reasons why some policies lean toward prevention while others lean towards suppression.
• Compare the success rate of both methods.
• Discuss the different gang treatment programs.

Invent a Gadget

Think about one task that you perform in the course of your everyday life that you must perform by hand, because there is no existing technological device to do that job.

Imagine that you have all the resources available to you to invent a technological device to do that job for you. In this scenario, you would have funding, a design team, and a means of production. Write about your invention using a standard essay format, with an introduction and additional short paragraphs, and a conclusion to address each of the elements in the directions below.

• Describe the task or service the gadget will perform.
• Give it a name.
• Explain what it looks like — color, size, and shape.
