For this assignment, you will:

 Write a 750 – 1,000 word (750 words minimum) analysis on the poem
Note: You analysis must be at least 750 words, in order to earn points for this
assignment. Fewer than 750 words will equal a zero (0) for this assignment.
 You must include at least 1 direct quote from the poem to support your discussion.

 No Works Cited is needed for this assignment, but you must properly cite any lines you
use from the poem. Review proper MLA formatting for citing lines from poetry!

 Do not do “outside” research! This is not a research paper. You will use your
knowledge of the elements below, which you have learned about in class, to analyze the
poem that you have chosen.
1. Write a well-developed 750-to-1,000 word (750 word minimum) analysis that discusses
all of the items below for the poem that you chose:

 Persona
o Who (or what) is the “speaker” in the poem? How do you know?

 Theme
o For the lyric poem: What is the subject of the poem? What are the speaker’s feelings
about the poem’s subject – how do you know (which specific details from the poem
suggest this)? What specific details does the speaker use to make the speaker’s
emotions or opinions come across – seem “real”?o For the narrative poem: What is the “story” that the speaker is trying to get across?
Is the author’s method of narrative poetry effect for this? Why or why not?

 Tone- What is the tone of each poem? Is there any irony in the poem (irony, verbal irony,
sarcasm, dramatic irony, cosmic irony) – and, if so, what is it?

 Diction & Structure
o What type of diction is used?
o Is allusion used? If so, to what does allusion refer?
o Comment on the poem’s structure –does it add to the poem’s overall effect and/or
support the poem’s theme? Why or why not?
 Denotation/Connotation

o Do examples of denotation exist in the poem? If so, what are they?

• This is a 5-8 minute PPT presentation describing your approach to providing transportation resources to support disaster operations. You may focus on one method- air, sea, rail or road.
• The key is to identify what resources you will need and how you intend to support/resource it. This does not need to be detailed; by now you should have a good understanding on how to “deliver the goods”. Including cons and pros of the metood. 8-10 slides max.

The assignment should be accompanied with a written script. Please cite references, but does not need to be embedded in your presentation; a separate slide would be fine. APA format. Must be accessible online.

Tips for a good PowerPoint presentation:

Slides should have no more than 4-6 lines of text per slide, and 1-3 ideas per slide max. Text should be in bullet format, not paragraph/prose format. Information should be conveyed in a concise but comprehensible manner. Do not write too much, as this creates a crowded slide which is visually overwhelming. Your meaning will get lost in the slide and your audience will lose interest. Do not write too little as this makes it difficult to understand your intended meaning. You may receive a lower grade because it will not be clear that you understood the concepts. Use photos and diagrams thoughtfully to supplement and advance your presentations, not just as meaningless filler.

Each presentation should have a title slide, an objectives slide and one or more reference slides. The title slide should contain the title of your presentation, your full name, the date and the course name. The objectives slide should outline the main bullet points that your presentation will cover. These should be analogous to lessons you expect your intended target audience to learn from your presentations. Your target audience has a basic disaster management background equivalent to your own. You do not need to include background material such as the history of ICS in your presentation.

Submit a paper which compares and contrasts two mental health theories:

• You may choose your theories from the textbook or from other sources.

• Describe each theory, including some history about the person who
  developed the theory and the major ideas and applications of the
  theory.

• Describe the ways in which the two theories are similar, and how they differ.

• Include a statement of how each theory could be used in your
  nursing practice. Include specific patient examples if you have them.
  You may also critique the theory: Is there anything with which you
  disagree or are there any problems you can identify?

• It is expected that this essay will be 2-3 pages in length (not

After you met with Jeanette (the client’s mother from the Unit 3 Assignment), you learned the following:

• The family consists of a mother, father, and older sister; and they are 2nd – and 3rd -generation Americans whose grandparents were originally from Mexico.
• Axel, the son, was diagnosed with Autism 3-months ago. He is a very active 4-year-old; he takes no prescription medications; and he has Occupational Therapy (OT) once per week.
• The three behaviors that Jeannette listed as “concerns” were tantrum behaviors, rigidity, and non-compliance.

Conduct a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA)

• Apply the single-subject research design to this FBA.
• Employ Indirect Assessment with those who are familiar with Axel: Prepare an interview form for the indirect assessment.
• Choose one, or more, data collection/behavior measurement forms for your direct observation from the list below (Forms can be found and downloaded in Course Documents). Using “creative license,” fabricate data for use in this Assignment.

• Based upon information gathered during the indirect assessment, schedule direct observation visits at the times, and in the environments, in which the target behaviors are likely to occur.

• Collect direct observation data using the forms (listed above) that are most appropriate for the behavior and setting.
• Choose one of the three target behaviors (tantrums, rigidity, or non-compliance) and create a line graph of the data. (In your Unit 9 Assignment, you will be designing a behavior intervention plan (BIP) based upon the target behavior you select in this Assignment.)
  • Explain your choice.
  • Summarize the considerations you must take into account when selecting a target behavior when a client exhibits multiple interfering behaviors.
• Based upon the visual analysis of the line graph, identify the probable function of the target behavior.
• Summarize the information collected during the indirect assessment and direct assessment in the Functional Behavior Assessment Report for Parents (FBARP) for Axel’s parents in understandable terms. Include in the FBARP, projected positive outcomes of addressing the target behavior with a behavior intervention plan (BIP). The FBARP should be 2–6 pages. You must use at least two academic references to support your assertions in the FBARP. Provide in-text citations in APA format. For this assignment, you will provide title and reference pages in APA format, and on a Word document.
