This comparative analysis paper is to be based upon your reading and analysis of the contents of the assigned supplementary book entitled The Afterlife Unveiled by Stafford Betty as well as information on the afterlife beliefs of Christianity and Hinduism as found in your course textbook, Course Packet and additional sources of published information. Since the Course Packet contains more detailed information on the afterlife beliefs of Christians and Hindus in their respective sections than does the textbook, be sure to make use of this information when you are preparing your papers especially for the comparative analyses sections of your paper. In addition, you are expected to consult at least one other additional source of published information regarding the afterlife beliefs of Christians and one other additional source of published information regarding the afterlife beliefs of Hindus. The contents of your essay should be organized according to five separate sections as shown below. Each section should be preceded by the appropriate section heading in bold font and underlined.

1. Introduction

In this paragraph you will explain briefly what your essay will cover. Assume that your reader has not seen this assignment sheet and would need some general orientation. Mention briefly some facts regarding Stafford Betty’s life story, his educational credentials, the title of Betty’s book that you will be discussing and the kind of material included in his book. Also inform the reader that you will be comparing Betty’s findings on the afterlife as described in this book with the customary afterlife beliefs of Christians and Hindus. (This introductory paragraph should be about 1/3 to ½ of a page in length.)

1. Afterlife According to the Spirits

In this section you should provide an overall description of the key features of the afterlife state as generally described in the various spirit accounts included in Stafford Betty’s book entitled The Afterlife Unveiled. Since there are some differences in the spirits accounts from chapter to chapter in Betty’s book, it is advisable for you to pay special attention to the concluding chapter (pp. 102-115) in Betty’s book where he provides a summarized composite description of what the various spirit communicators have said about the afterlife. Some important features which you should comment on in this section would be the following items:

1. Immediately after death, what do the spirits say happens to deceased persons? Do they lose consciousness forevermore, or do they continue to be alert in consciousness while existing in a nonphysical etheric body or do they remain sleeping in their graves awaiting a future bodily resurrection in the apocalyptic end times of the world?

1. If deceased persons retain their consciousness after death, what happens to them at least initially? Are they judged by God or by a tribunal of higher spirit beings or do souls do their own self-assessment of their recently concluded earthly lives? If souls are evaluated in some manner, what is the primary basis for the evaluation? Is it based upon a person’s ethical conduct while alive on earth or does it depend primarily upon whether the person held certain religious beliefs or belonged to a specific religion?

1. In what kind of heavenly environment are deceased persons who have led relatively decent lives in a moral sense placed? (The spirits often call these pleasant light regions the “Summerlands” but in more modern terminology they might be called the heavenly realms of the “astral plane.”) What types of visual scenery and living environments are found in these heavenly light realms? Are these environmental features subject to modification by the powers of the mind on the part of individual souls existing in these realms? What is the visual appearance of the etheric bodies of souls when they reside in the heavenly realms?

1. What do souls do when existing in the “light regions” of the heavenly realms? Do such souls spend time in the visible presence of an embodied God or angels or spiritual masters or other deceased loved ones? Do these souls tend to congregate in heavenly regions along with other souls who formerly lived on earth in a similar cultural society and professed a similar religion? Do souls gain instantaneous enlightenment or perfection when they crossover from the physical realm to the heavenly realms or do they have much the same character and intellectual development as they had in their recently concluded earthly lifetimes? What do these souls do when they are in heaven? Do they spend all their time praising and worshiping God while also existing in eternal rest? Or do souls generally undertake activities that would lead to further personal growth of an intellectual and spiritual nature such as pursuing further learning, working in various occupational pursuits, engaging in hobbies and even enjoying recreational activities?

1. What happens to deceased persons who have committed serious criminal acts while on earth or who are steeped in strong negative states of consciousness? In what kind of celestial environment (sometimes called “Shadowlands”) are such souls placed? Are such souls confined and punished in the fiery torments of a traditional hell and separated eternally from the consolation of God’s presence? What is the visual appearance of these darker regions? What emotions are commonly experienced by souls confined in these dark regions? Can such souls who are confined in these “dark” regions eventually attain release and re-locate to the pleasant “light” regions of the heavenly realms? If yes, what changes do they need to make in themselves in order to gain such release?

1. Do souls in the heavenly realms customarily reincarnate in the earthly world numerous times in order to grow spiritually and deal with personal karma? (Regarding reincarnation, pay special attention to Betty’s discussion of this issue as item # 44 in the Conclusion chapter of Betty’s book. Finally, do souls also have the option through diligent work in transforming their consciousness of eventually ascending to progressively higher heavenly planes until they merge together with the supreme Godhead? (This section should be about 1 ½ to 2 pages long.)

In this section of your essay, you will discuss important similarities and differences between the spirits own descriptions of the afterlife as reported in Betty’s book and the traditional notions of the afterlife that are commonly believed by Christians. Executives are very busy and rely heavily on their direct reports to provide timely, accurate and relevant information. To this end, consolidated data, called “rollups” or “executive dashboards” are necessary. A busy executive needs to be able to receive, interpret and visualize data quickly, but still have the important underlying data if closer inspection is required. In this module we will create a consolidated worksheet that will contain 3 important areas that we explored last week: ROI, BE analysis and SWOT. All underlying data may not be duplicated into the reporting document, it could come from many sources, but there are linkages that provide easy-to-recognize summaries on a consolidated page for executive review. There will be no underlying data for the purposes of this project, but understand there are always links to other documents in the real world.

What are some examples of executive dashboards?

This looks very complicated and these examples are very time consuming. Our executive dashboard that we are building this module will still have the information that a well-informed executive would need, but will be more simplified. We will be using MS Excel this module and will have a structured set of steps below to construct our consolidated report, limited to one spreadsheet.
