Mental Health in the Community

Write a 1000-1500 word essay addressing each of the following points/questions. Be sure to completely answer all the questions for each bullet point. There should be three main sections, one for each bullet below. Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper. Support your ideas with at least three (3) sources using citations in your essay. Make sure to cite using the APA writing style for the essay. The cover page and reference page in correct APA do not count towards the minimum word amount. Review the rubric criteria for this assignment.

• Go to the Healthy People 2020 website and search for Mental Health and Mental Disorders. After reading the Overview section, pick and note 2 objectives/goals from the list that you feel affect your community and explain why these were chosen. As a nurse, what can you do to help the community move towards this goal?

• Explain how physical health and mental health are correlated. What impact does each have on the other? Give at least one detailed example of how either a specific physical ailment leads to a breakdown in mental health or how a specific mental health disorder can lead to physical issues.
• Explain Trauma Informed Care in detail. How you can use Trauma Informed Care to assist a child who has been impacted by trauma?

Assignment Expectations:

Length: 1000-1500 words; answers must thoroughly address the questions in a clear, concise manner.

Instruction for Paper 1: What is the significance of the literary element (plot, setting, characterization/character, diction, theme) you have chosen as the focus for your paper? You will develop a paper that answers this question and demonstrates the following outcomes for writing and literature:

• Analyze literature for a purpose
• Distinguish digital or print materials through annotation to demonstrate reading and summary skills
• Identify a literary element–such as plot, setting, character, diction, or theme–in a short story
• Identify one to three examples in the story that support the thesis

The goal of this project is for
each student to develop a research paper to investigate and establish a
plan to maintain effective personal stress management techniques. This
paper will incorporate newly acquired stress management skills, and
create a plan for stress management tools that have been effective for
each individual.

Type a 8-paged (minimum) double-spaced research paper in 12 pt. Times New Roman font with SUBHEADINGS including the following:

1. Assessments (retake and compare)
   1. Complete
      the 8 assessments from Chapter 2 again. >> Complete chapter 2’s
      lab (2.2) in the text. 1) Type the results from ALL 8 of the assessments
      throughout chapter 2 (section I–Figure 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, 2.4, 2.5, 2.6,
      2.7, and Tombstone Test). 2) Analyze your results by completing section
      II of lab 2.2 and answering all the questions.
   2. Compare your
      results from all 8 assessments from the beginning of the semester
      (Self-Assessments and Reflection assignment) to the results from all 8
      assessments from the end of the semester.

3. Stress management techniques

1. 1. Which THREE stress management techniques were most effective for you that you plan to maintain in your life?
   2. Please explain each technique in detail (e.g., what the techniques are and the method to practice it), and explain WHY these THREE? Please use resources and citations to support your statements.
   3. Explain when you have used these techniques (specific situations/stressors) and how they have reduced your stress and/or stress reactions.
   4. Did
      these three stress management techniques stay consistent throughout the
      semester, or change and vary depending on new techniques learned or
      different stressors?
   5. How will you continue to incorporate these THREE stress management techniques into your life and maintain them long-term?

cite in APA format WITHIN THE TEXT OF THE PAPER (author/organization,
year of publication). A reference page needs to be attached to the end
of the paper listing all of the references in APA format that you used
to write the paper (not included in the 8 required pages). At least 5 different references
need to be included in the research paper (one can be the text and the
other 4 must be professional journal articles—if you are unsure about
which resources to use, please ask (Wikipedia will NOT be accepted)).

Some of the wording sounds like it came directly from the secondary sources. I did not go through and double check every sentence that sounded like another source, but to avoid plagiarism just make sure that you write your summary of the secondary sources in your own words.

In addition, what is your primary research contribution to this report? Remember that both primary research and secondary research are required in this research summary report.

Finally, make sure the information in each section belongs under that section heading. For example, there is information in the Background that maybe should be in the Causes section. It is worth one round of self-review to check that each section’s content is in the right section.

• To complete this project, you will form small groups and choose a local problem affecting USF or in the local Tampa Bay community. (the problem is homeless people in Tampa Bay area)
• Each group member will complete primary and secondary research on the problem and write a 2-3 page research summary report in memo format.
• Although you are part of a group working on a shared research problem, each group member will complete their own primary and secondary research and write their own research summary report memo.
• Your memo should include the following section headings:

PROJECT 3 OVERVIEW

Research in the workplace solves a problem. Tasked with a problem in the workplace, you may be asked to gather the information necessary to fully understand the issue at hand, solve that problem (or offer potential solutions), prove that your solutions are viable, and/or test your solution(s). Doing this work requires different types of research that go beyond simply querying (searching) a library database or using Google. Often, you will need to speak directly to target populations and audiences and directly contact resources and experts in different professions and in the community. You may also need information in addition to or instead of scholarly resources. Local and national journalism (newspapers and magazines) may add context and perspective. Professional experts, government agencies, and state and local authorities may serve as be relevant sources, as are individuals in target populations.

Essentially, research in the workplace requires you to think critically and creatively about:

• The type of information you need; and
• The best way to get that information.

Your job as a researcher is to address, explain, and/or solve a problem using the most relevant and applicable methods and resources. If a resource can supply information you need, then it is the right resource for the job.

It’s also important when thinking about a problem your researching to keep in mind that you probably aren’t the first person or organization to deal with this issue. Look at other organizations, groups, or communities negotiating the same or similar issue. Research how those groups describe and deal with the problem. The perspective of experience is invaluable to your work.

PROJECT 3 ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS

This project asks you to do community-based research into a local problem impacting USF or the surrounding Tampa Bay community. Your goal for this project is to describe a problem in detail using as much information as you can gather from as many different kinds of sources as are useful. This project requires a mixture of primary research and secondary research. This means you may look at research gathered by others (e.g., government agencies, non-profit organizations, professional and academic experts), but you will also gather your own data by contacting experts and asking impacted population for their perspective.

Once you have formed small groups and agreed on a local problem, you will conduct research using any of the following methods and resources, or anything else that helps you explain the scope of your problem. Remember that your report must include a mixture of primary (original) and secondary (published) research.

• Newspapers (local, university, national)
• Reports from government agencies, universities, and/or NGOs
• Scholarly research
• Facts and statistics compiled by government agencies and/or NGOs
• Interviews with experts and/or impacted individuals
• Surveys (social media makes doing surveys easy)

As a deliverable, you will produce a report memo approximately 2-3 pages in length that reports your findings and provides readers with a robust understanding of the problem you have researched.
