(As an aside, most philosophy profs have never read Weaver’s article and debate about the real meaning,
I am convinced that Weaver is right on target with his interpretation.)

We are not talking just “speeches” here, but any message in any media that has the intent of persuading people, of presenting them a worldview to adopt. Frankly, there are only a handful of tactics people use today that Aristotle dod not thoroughly explain back then.

In Plato’s time, oratory was the only form of mass media there was. Even books were read aloud. Silent reading did not hit the scene until perhaps the 1800s. Weaver wrote in the 1960s, at a time when the power of traditional mass media, radio, TV, newspapers, & books, was just beginning to be understood. Even then, speeches like “I have a Dream” were the most powerful form of public.

Chapter 8 describes the process of maintaining blockchain apps after deployment.
