Michaela W’s Paper

Strategic Planning

Top of Form

Definition: 1“Strategic planning involves making decisions about the organizations long-term goals and strategies”

Summary: The first article I chose to discuss reviews the seven common steps to developing and implementing a strategic plan. In addition, the article discussed the reasoning behind strategic planning. 2 Organizations use strategic planning for a vast variety of things, like growing the organizations culture, marketing, expansion, etc. Stratgic planning is really just making decisions based on the long-term affects and goals for your organization. Step one, identifyin the mission and vision statement. Step two, completing the SOAR analysis. Step three is creating a draft of the strategic plan. Step four, gathering feedback of the draft from peers or employees. Step five, revising the plan based on the feedback received. Step six, communicating and implemting the strategic plan to the organization. Lastly, step seven, monitoring the implemented plan. 3 “The strategic plan isn’t meant to be rigid, but rather a vision for the organizations future that my change as time goes on and new information about the market and stakeholders emerge.”

Discussion: Stragic planning is a crucical strategy that should be utilized across all organizations. Mainly because strategic planning is a way of looking towards the future, which has proven to provide better outcomes. The first article I mentioned discussed the steps of developing a strategic plan, while the second article discusses how public and private organizations receive different outcomes when it comes to strategic planning. In addition, this article discusses some of the negative thoughts regarding the use of strategic planning. Much like article one, the second article also discusses the different things taken into account when creating a strategic plan. 4 “Typically operationalized as an approach to strategy formulation, strategic planning  includes elements such as analysis of the organzation’s mandate, mission, and values; analysis of the organiztions internal and external environment; and identification of strategic issues based on these analyses and the formulation of strategies, goals and plans to addres issues.” Although strategic planning has been proven affect, it does have it’s downfalls. For example, does strategic planning go hand-in-hand with strategic thinking? Or are the higher-ups of the company deciding what is best for the future without involving the front line staff? However, in a sense I disagree with these questions being considered down falls. Although I feel getting feedback from front-line staff is important, something like strategic planning should be left for the upper management when it comes to the creation and keeping it in line with the goals of the company long term. Then once the idea is brought to life, it should be shared for feedback and ideas throughout the organization.

Biblical Integration: I think it is important that we as Christians remember that we can find all answers through God. If we need spiritual counsel, it can be found. 5 “If any ofyou lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” In addition, we as leaders need to be an example for others, so that they too can lead others. This is regardless if you are at work, school, etc. 6 “You call me teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one anothers fett. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greter than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who is sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.”

Quantitative Study to Decrease Prevalence of Alcohol Use Amongst Young Adults

Student Name

Course

Institution

Young adults are exposed to alcohol consumption, and this shows that the focus of the research is to check the effectiveness of smartphone messaging in their livelihoods. The research question is focused on using smartphone message intervention to determine whether young adults will change their alcohol consumption (Bertholet et al., 2017). The question was the key point in analyzing the extraneous variables in the selected study. The extraneous variables are defined as all other variables that are not defined as the independent variable and can cloud the results. The variables are socio-economic conditions of the respondents, level of education, income level, and friendships among young adults. The variables are dependent variables and have the ability to manipulate the independent variable, as they will help to cloud the findings. The variables will be controlled through random sampling, and this is because they are linked together with alcohol consumption. For example, friendship among friends can be a motivator in alcohol consumption, and it is a variable that can either lead to increased alcohol consumption or reduced consumption. The second way to control the level of education variable is matching, whereby the link will be focused on ensuring that the respondents are matched with the level of drinking.

Research instruments are the best tools that are involved in the collection of data, and the research will entail mobile surveys as a process of getting data on the level of drinking. According to a study by Lauckner et al. (2019) and Nicolas Bertholet et al. (2017), the research can involve the application of breathalyzers and Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) as a second method to measure alcohol consumption. (Lauckner et al., 2019; Bertholet et al. 2017). The validity estimate involved in the study can be proposed to be test reviews on the alcohol dependency scale on the alcohol measurement methods, where the data will be subjected to analysis to determine whether the past results are the best in the research study. The reliability measure and the best tool will be the alcohol dependency scale, and the idea is to look for the internal consistency of alcohol consumption. At times, some of the respondents might give unreliable information, and this calls for a reliability test which will be factored in the alcohol dependence scale. According to a study by Sobell and Sobell (1995), the drinking measure that will be applied will be the DSML, and this is because it has the elements of monitoring progress. The purpose of the measure is depicted to be a daily recall of drinking, whereby it will help in self-reporting on alcohol consumption (Sobell & Sobell, 1995).

The intervention selected is the effectiveness of smartphone messaging on reducing the prevalence of alcohol consumption. The intervention is a method that is impactful in checking whether the students who use smartphones have an opportunity to reduce the use of alcohol (Kazemi et al., 2017). The intervention, according to the past research, was recommended to be applied as it offers great and positive feedback on reducing the alcohol consumption rate (Crane et al., 2018). The last aspect in the proposal that is key and needs attention is the data collection procedures, whereby it will depend on the mobile surveys that will be conducted on the selected participants. The participants will be selected through random sampling, as it will help to control the extraneous variables that were identified. The data will be collected through the administered breathalyzers on the participants.

The data collection will be started after getting the participants who regularly engage in alcohol consumption. The argument in this context is that data collection will depend on the mobile surveys, as it is also the simplest process to ensure that the data is valid for the research. The other part of the data collection procedures is that the association between smartphone messaging and level of drinking will be analyzed keenly, as some participants might have wrong information, and this limits the results that might be anticipated in the research (Kazemi et al. 2017).

How will the national economy respond to the Federal Reserve Tapering

In order to rebound from the pandemic-induced recession, the Federal Reserve commences in their crisis response, essentially reversing their increased stimulation of the national economy through the course of the pandemic. As such, the Fed is planning a tapering, or gradually decreasing the amount of monthly purchased bonds while also raising interest rates. I want to focus on a further description of what tapering is, how the national economy will react, and how this tapering compares to the one following the 2008 recession.

Reforming U.S Criminal Justice System

For the final paper, you will answer the following hypothetical scenario. You are given the power to alter the course of how “justice” is delivered in the contemporary United States. What sorts of policies, efforts, decisions, etc, would you enact? Given all that we have read this semester about the history and contemporary development of policing, mass incarceration and criminalization and how they are shaped by race, class and gender, what should “justice” look like?
To answer this question, please map out one central “reform” that you would propose for the US criminal justice system to tackle racial, class and gendered disparities. There are distinctions between “reformist reforms” versus “non-reformist reforms.” A reform refers to changing the existing institution through gradual changes. Many of the authors we have read are critical of reforms that expand the role of the system in the lives of marginalized and vulnerable communities. Non-reformist reforms refer to focus on structural changes to society that reduce contact with the criminal justice system and transform the relations of power that shape punishment.
To answer this question properly and thoroughly, you are required to draw from AT LEAST FOUR course readings, materials, and discussions. You should be thinking through the connections between institutions such as the family, education system, government, police, prisons, criminal courts, parole/bail, etc., and how they one navigates based on their positionality (race, class, gender, age, residency, sexuality, sexual expression, legal status, etc). You might even find it helpful to do some of your own outside research that can inform your answer (please cite this at the bottom of answer, in any format you like).
What I want to see here is creativity, rigor, and critical thinking. Large parts of this class have focused on thinking through the social constructiveness of “crime” and criminalization, now it is time for you to put it all together to demonstrate you are thinking seriously about what is structural, cyclical and new within criminology and the problems of how to change the justice system (broadly understood).
The paper should not exceed five typed pages (double-spaced, Times New Roman font 12p). If you are using outside readings, please include a separate reference page and cite in the format you’d like. Otherwise, if you are using class readings just in-text citation (Author Last Name, Page #).
I will include the readings that are necessary to use and powerpoints that go over main topics.

solve a comprehensive problem in firewall and VPN implementation at various levels.

Project Part 1: Network Survey
Introduction
Network defenses rely first on understanding the current
configuration of hosts, services, and protocols in use within the
organization. Before it is possible to plan to change anything, you must
first understand what is present and where it is located within the
network. The initial phase of any network security realignment process
involves identifying existing resources.
Scenario
You have been working as a technology associate in the information
systems department at Corporation Techs. The Corporation Techs’
management is concerned that they are losing business to a competitor
whose bids are too accurately just under the bids offered by Corporation
Techs––by an exact amount. A security firm was contracted to conduct a
review of Corporation Techs’ systems, identifying unauthorized access to
the Web server as a potential source of compromise due to the shared
reporting and public Web site functions. The packet trace and
vulnerability scans gathered during this review are available for your
use.
The Web server provides public access to the organization’s static
Web site for contact information, while sales team members in the field
transfer contract and bid documents using a site secured with a logon
and password. Corporation Techs has budgeted for new networking hardware
but does not want to add additional servers due to cooling issues. Your
manager has asked you to create a security plan that will prevent
unauthorized access, while making sure that both public and secured Web
access remain available.
Tasks
The data and information you need to complete this part of the
project are provided to you. (See the Required Source Information and
Tools section at the beginning of this document.) In this part of the
project, you need to conduct a survey of the existing hosts, services,
and protocols within Corporation Techs’ network. Specifically, you need
to:
Access the PCAP data using NetWitness Investigator.
Identify hosts within the Corporation Techs’ network.
Identify protocols in use within the Corporation Techs’ network.
Develop a list of hosts and services provided by each.
Create a professional report detailing the information above as the
initial document for development of the network security plan.
Write the network survey results as detailed in the instructions above
Project Part 2: Network Design
Introduction
As discussed so far in this course, the configuration of a network
affects the options available for security and network defense. Using
the network survey produced during the first part of this project,
together with host vulnerability assessments and access requirements,
you need to design an updated network structure.
Scenario
You have been working as a technology associate in the information
systems department at Corporation Techs for a while now. You have
discovered so far that all of Corporation Techs’ computer systems share
the same Class C public IP address range, including workstations along
with servers providing authentication, e-mail, and both secure and
public Web sites.
Your next task in this project is to construct a basic network
design. An important requirement for the network design is to reduce the
number of public addresses needed as the subnet lease results in very
high ISP costs.
Tasks
Construct a basic network design, separating private and public
services within the Corporation Techs’ network. To do so, you must:
Access the PCAP files using NetWitness Investigator, and browse the
Nmap scan (XML format), topology fisheye chart (PDF format), and Nessus
report (HTML format).
Identify vulnerabilities and clear-text information transfer.
Conduct research and determine the best network design to ensure
security of internal access while retaining public Web site
availability.
Identify any opportunities for reduced ISP costs through port redirection or address translation.
Design a network configuration, identifying network gateways, port
or address redirection systems, and the location of hosts within private
and protected network segments.
Create a professional report detailing the information above as supportive documentation for the network security plan.
Create a report that includes a basic network diagram and research result
Project PART 3: Network Security Plan
Scenario
You have been working as a technology associate in the information
systems department at Corporation Techs for three months now. You have
conducted a network survey and developed a basic network design intended
to provide security for private network resources and publicly exposed
Web services.
Your manager specified that all information transferred between the
sales team in the field and the organizational servers must be protected
against snooping. The manager also wants the secured reporting site to
be available only through the organization’s private network so that an
outsourced network-based intrusion detection system (NIDS) service can
log all connections.TasksYou need to recommend a network design and identify hardening strategies intended to meet the requirements. To do so, you must:
Access the PCAP and other scan data for this project.
Conduct research and determine the best network design to meet the stated requirements.
Research hardening strategies and identify recommended mitigation strategies for identified vulnerabilities.
Identify mechanisms for secure network access by remote users, both
in terms of secure Web access as well as reporting access conducted
using the private network.
Develop a network security plan including network realignment, hardening practices, and policies for remote resource access.
Identify expectations from recommended changes and provide
justification for each recommendation in simple language so that primary
stakeholders are able to understand it.
Create a professional report detailing the information above,
presented as a recommendation for a network security realignment project
for Corporation Techs. Include persuasive justification and measurable
expectations as part of this recommendation.
Write the network design results as detailed in the instructions
above. Your plan should be made using a standard word processor format
compatible with Microsoft Word.

You have to write an Essay. It is about Repressive Change and its response. Similar to what I asked in the forum. Many of you didn’t write about repressive change and the different methods used and the responses, including rebellion or even revolution. There is a lot before those things happen. I want you to also add/discuss about the over 40 million refugees in the world and the 30 million who are enslaved typically because of economic reasons, but not necessary solely. Lisa Kristen the photographer/activist, who lives in the bay, through her pictures, you can see how it is back in many places, in different continents. Reproductive Hormonal Control Sperm production is controlled by negative feedback consistently and egg production is controlled by positive feedback Essay.

Reproductive Hormonal Control
Sperm production is controlled by negative feedback consistently and egg production is controlled by positive feedback on a monthly cycle. Reflect on how the roles of males and females in this process makes this system the evolutionary choice for humans. Be sure to focus on the physiology of gamete production and reproduction, not the social roles, although the latter can be included as a side point.

Chapter 3: Recommendations

Suggestions to improve training Rather than focussing on one big project,

it would have better if the training consisted of many small projects which pave way to learn a bigger set of new skills.

During the internship period, I was assigned a program which requires a considerable amount of theoretical knowledge. Even though this has advantages, it would have been better if the training consists of many smaller number of task , that involve many number of new skills.

In the university, students have more than enough theoretical experience, with poor practical knowledge. Having a good knowledge of the subject is the key intention behind internship program, in my opinion. Having smaller program which incorporate many number of new strategies would help to achieve that knowledge.

This whole internship program can be considered as a successful approach. Following list suggests ideas that would help to improve this program to a much better standard.

1. Frequent visits from internship supervisor during the three months of internship period. It would have made the internship program a much successful one.

2. Fairly long internship timeline seu had only 3 months of training. Even though it helped to enhance lots of skills, having a more lengthy internship period would have been better. Once we work in a company, it takes at least two months to be familiarized with company culture and best practices. Hence it is only 4 months, the interns were able to provide their maximum to the company. If the internship timeline was much longer, it would have helped more to enhance our skills and to make an impact to the company.

Conclusion Sum up and summary of the training experience. Reference If it is needed Appendix (option) This will help the instructor to have a background about the trainee and his/her previous experiences. Also, it helps the students in writing their CVs for future job application especially for fresh graduates who do not have previous practical experiences.

After attending internship program, it was clear than having good interpersonal skills is more important than being a geek. It’s one of the skills that are highly appreciated when hiring employees and promoting .

BUSINESS SYSTEM ANALYSIS

Lawrence McClendon

Introduction

The company is a small brick-and-mortar business based, and mostly it deals with designer clothes, shoes, and handbags. The company has only a basic website that does not allow customers to shop online. The customers can only buy the accessories by visiting the store. The company’s owner has presented the issue and wants to improve the situation.

Problem statement

The company needs to expand its business growth by allowing customers to shop online. At the same time, the administration is feared of the company’s and customers’ privacy in the context of personal information and documentation.

Technologies to use

It is suggested that the use of two technologies can resolve the problem mentioned above. They include big data management and cloud computing. Both of these are used excessively by business companies and help to protect and secure private information.

Business Requirements

Objectives

The objectives of the project are to expand the business growth and to attract customers through online platforms. It has been observed that the companies make the huge growth in the market through online technologies. The customers can place the orders through the online portal, and the other objective is to protect the customer’s privacy and the company’s documentation. The technologies are needed to introduce in the company to achieve both of the objectives mentioned above.

Project Description

The project has been planned to understand the technology needs of the company. The company has observed the different big names in the industry that use online technology software to protect their information and expand business growth. My company needs to focus on implementing the two technologies mentioned above, and the desired results are an increase in customers. The data of the company will be protected. The company needs to introduce the new technology because it is seen that the company is doing the business at a small scale, and it needs to show its presence in E-commerce. It is the 21st century, and all business companies need online platforms to show their presence on social and other media platforms (EUK, 2018).

Technology Requirements

According to the decision matrix, big data management will facilitate the collaboration among the staff and managers with the customers, manage the customer’s contacts, update the reports and manage the company’s processes, including the sales and payments. Cloud computing will integrate online shopping, manages inventory and online shipping, and track the payment status. The company needs all these requirements to be fulfilled as per the mentioned objectives. So, these technical requirements are necessary for the company to introduce in the future (Upgrad, 2018).

Competitors and Technology

The company urges to implement the new technologies in the industry because it has been observed that the competitors implement such technologies and gain a lot of success. The competitors have a lot of success compared to brick and mortar. So, it is necessary to compete with them through these technologies.

Technology One

Zappos is one of the biggest online retail companies, and it was founded in 1999. The company deals with shoes, boots, clothing, and many other items, and it is located in America. The company has a huge customer base, and it has managed its system through online technology. Cloud computing is the significant approach used by the company where it has implemented the super cloud system for the connection of customers to the company. It uses the cloud system model by Amazon. The huge and well-developed computing system is used to handle the customer’s questions and connect them to the company to place online orders (Zappos, 2020).

Technology two

Kohl is one of the other big retail companies that deals with clothes, shoes, and other daily use items. It has been seen that the company has successfully managed the data of thousands of customers through big data management. It uses the local customer data, comparable store data, and machine learning algorithms and easily manages the data of customers and companies (Kohl, 2020).

Technology Benefits

Both of the companies get the benefit from the technologies discussed above. Zappos uses cloud computing to make it easy for the customers to manage the contact with the company. Kohl can easily manage the customer’s data through big data and knowledge management. If brick and mortar adopt these technologies, the customers will approach them. The sales will be increased, and the company will not be worried about the management of a huge customer list and the private documentation of the company. Big data management will help in these issues and will protect against them.

Unknown Identification Paper Instructions: Write a minimum two-page paper describing the process and conclusion of your unknown investigation. This Essay Bryndie Kidd

English Composition I

Essay 1: The Explainer [Draft]

Within many professional settings such as school or the workplace, women of all ages are subjected to unfair treatment surrounding dress code policies. These policies are often inherently misogynistic with women being the prime target for dress code violations. Most of the policies are formed out of subjugation to their bodies. This can include guidelines that are structured to keep women from showing their skin. For example, many schools will often forbid girls from showing their shoulders. In the case that they are, they are likely asked to cover up, as it can be seen as “distracting” to their male peers. Being asked to put on a different shirt, however, is usually the least critical effect of dress code violations. In many instances, girls will typically either be sent home or written up, if not both. By doing so, schools are implying that what a girl wears is more important than her education.

These absurd policies also prompt the sexualization of girls’ bodies from a young age. They are taught that what they wear has a direct effect on the academic performance of male students. No wonder when cases of sexual assault are reported, the school’s first instinct is to ask what the victim was wearing. School systems have been given a reputation of being unsafe and unprotective of students due to their inclined nature to blame the victim whenever sexual violence happens. According to the ACLU, “the figure of campus rapes that go unreported in 95 percent” (Ito, 2018). When victims are told what they were wearing may have been the cause of the assault, it leaves them feeling helpless and like they have no one to turn to, which can as a result decrease the likelihood of future victims to report acts of sexual violence within schools.

Due to the enforcement of mandatory dress code policies that restrict girls from showing what is deemed as “too much skin”, they have essentially been conditioned to show as little as possible. This may also have a direct correlation to their low self-esteem and self-image issues as well. By suggesting they cannot show as much skin as they would like to or feel comfortable with, girls are being conditioned to feel shameful when wearing something slightly more revealing than normal. Children are very impressionable at such a young age and when told to cover up their bodies, it can lead them to believe their bodies are unattractive and displeasing as well as feeling the need to constantly seek out approval and validation from others in order to feel confident.

Girls should not have to be told that they cannot wear something they like and feel comfortable in to satisfy the approval of adults. When such a prominent focus within school systems is placed on the attire of students, it is evident that such policies are rooted in the sexualization of students. Amber Thomas, a writer for digital publication, The Pudding, explains how “the practice of commenting on someone else’s body and imposing sexuality upon them falls squarely into the American Psychological Association’s definition of sexualization. And while the APA acknowledges that anyone can be sexualized, they suggest that girls are the most at risk” (Thomas, 2019).

With policies like these, it also gives the implication that women are only deserving of respect and dignity when their clothing is up to “professional” standards enforced by men in positions of power. If it is not, then they essentially risk everything. When such policies are implemented in order to keep male students focused on their studies, it further reveals that they are put in place mainly by men, particularly who view girls’ bodies in a sexualized manner.

These policies also invite the notion that men cannot control themselves whenever women don’t completely cover their bodies. This can shape boys later in life into behaving inappropriately or violently when a woman is wearing something revealing, as they are not used to seeing women without clothing hiding their bodies. “The claim of reduced responsibility, if understood as a moral excuse, suggests that a man aroused by a woman’s outfit should be at least partially excused if his sexual arousal was so strong that he was unable to control his response. Alternatively, his behavior could be construed as partially justified if it was reasonable for him to infer from the woman’s outfit that she desired sexual attention” (Wolfendale, 2016).

Men’s actions have notoriously always been excused throughout history within everything they do. They are not nearly as often subject to being called out for violating dress code as women are. They are rarely if ever told to cover their skin or put on more/different clothing so as not to risk “distracting” others. Once again, this is due to the fundamentals behind dress codes being rooted in misogyny and sexism. Men are not told to cover their shoulders or wear longer pants that go down to their knees as the overseers who enforce these codes know that men’s bodies are not as sexualized as women’s. Due to most overseers being men, they can primarily get away with only reprimanding women also.

If one thing is for certain, the enforcement of dress code policies within schools or the workplace is rooted in sexism and needs to be changed. My natural next questions are as follows: why are women’s and girls’ bodies so sexualized and objectified? Why have schools allowed for the emphasis on the sexualization of young girls and the prioritization of their attire over education? Do men truly feel arousal from females when a little more of their skin is showing than usual? Why are these policies still in place today and what next steps can we take to modify them? Would these modifications have a significant impact on girls’ self-confidence?

It’s a part of the country’s history. It is the obligation of all Canadians to learn about what happened in the residential schools. As a result, the general public will have a greater understanding of First Nations people. We can move forward together once we have a deeper understanding of each other. One has probably heard prejudices about Aboriginal people. But do they ever taken the effort to research why stereotypes remain and why they are incorrect? Many individuals might benefit from a day spent reflecting on preconceptions and learning how to unlearn them. I am studying at the University of Winnipeg. I have come to learn something new. Also, I am here to work in a specific field of study, but I am also here to extend my horizons. Take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone and discover more about a period of our country’s history that has had a significant impact on our culture.

Why these subtopics are important to my project?

Humanity has come so far in the history That Lots of bloodshed and even beautiful stories are sleeping in the history books. One of them that generates so much cruelty on the indigenous community is the History of residential schools. It is very much important to know that what exactly were these schools. Do they still exist and what was the and purpose behind their birth?

Residential schools are a vast educational system established by the Canadian government and administered by churches with the stated goal of educating Indigenous children, as well as the more harmful and equally explicit goal of indoctrinating them into Euro-Canadian and Christian ways of life and assimilating them into mainstream white Canadian society (CBC,1997).

It is notable to learn that the number of residential schools peaked in the early 1930s, with 80 schools and over 17,000 children enrolled. Over the length of the system’s history, over 150,000 children are estimated to have attended a residential school. That means thousands of lives were the victim of these schoolish torture (CBC,1997).

Hundreds of First Nations children were compelled to attend the residential school during the course of its 15-year existence. The Roman Catholic Church was in charge of the site until 1969, when it was taken over by the government. It ceased operations in 1973. This content should be compulsion in the history books of Canadians. Many psychologists nowadays are working and having conversation with the present living victims (survived students of the schools) to know and note the trauma they had experienced (Nobel,1991).

We can learn how the historical basis of today’s challenges effect Aboriginal Peoples’ perspectives. What effect do laws made in the 1800s have on today’s Aboriginal Peoples and their relationship with the federal government, for example? What effects does the residential school system have on today’s young Aboriginal students?

We can appreciate the wide range of Aboriginal peoples in Canada. If one recognizes that a one-size-fits-all approach is neither relevant nor respectful, one will get a better knowledge and appreciation of the diversity of Aboriginal Peoples’ cultural richness and contributions to Canadian culture and economy. By this very way we Canadians can introduce many more beautiful cultural practices in our culture. Eventually making our culture way richer than before (Miller,1996).

With this very way our upcoming generation can very well get familiar with struggle of the aboriginal people in the past and the present as well. Our kids need to grow up with the truth. Provide the knowledge of the history to present generation can leads to the creation of mercy in the heart of the today’s youth so they can be aware with the fact in the near future that how hard it ends up when one community tries to overtake or terminate another community (Schiedel,2020)..

This can not only benefit our generation only but can be way more than an asset for the first nation kids too as they can their history and must commemorate their history in order to prevent their traditions from vanishing and to help them grow. In the preservation of their cultures, norms, spirituality, traditions, and languages, in the celebration of their history invigorates pride in being Indigenous (Schiedel,2020).

How am I planning to present my project?

I am planning to present this individual project’s reference in the American psychological association format that is APA. I already accumulated various interconnected to the main topic articles and planted them with the proper reference so that my marker may find easy understanding my work.

As the format of the whole project, I decided to go with the research article style that helps me out to finish my Sub-topics in such a manner with the beautiful assist of articles taken from the University of Winnipeg’s library. Researching about the sensitive topic and writing them in a proper divided manner made me more curious about the Indigenous community.

Demand and Supply Uncertainty assessments for Food Banks As much as food

Demand and Supply Uncertainty assessments for Food Banks

As much as food banks do not operate for profit, the market dynamics influence its practice. In this regard, food bank organizations have to find mechanisms to speculate or instead credibly predict the customer preference for several reasons. Having too much supply without demand means that a lot of food will go to waste, which contributes to the global issue the food banks are meant to combat. Also, having a lot of demand without supply means more hunger, and as revealed earlier on, there is enough food to go around. Sometimes, there is a risk of a foodbank receiving more of what it has, such that say Food Bank B receives potatoes when its warehouse is full of potatoes, and lastly, a food bank can receive donations for which it does not have resources to store say for example Food Bank B receives a lot of meat, but its freezers are few or full. Canice Prendergast’s How Food Banks Use Markets to Feed the Poor (2017). They also constitute the internal and external uncertainties of a food bank because, as Prendergast (2017) puts it, “access to food should depend on need” (p.149). The market dynamics are unprecedented, and each food bank needs to respond according to its strongest suits, but for internal structures, independent analysis needs to be done to mediate the uncertainties due to internal and external components. For its worth mentioning, supply chains are highly decentralized due to the multiple players.

For example, in the food industry, there are many suppliers and millions of consumers unevenly spread globally. Even in this sense, distribution is also a critical factor in keeping connections oiled, and thus any interruptions in the maritime industry affect millions of stakeholders. The nature of products in the food industry does not help either. Being perishable and imperishable, some products cannot be transported in one cargo, for example, milk and carrots. Carrots can survive for days. On the other hand, milk warns in quality with an increase in days under transit. In general, to sort for the market, internal and external uncertainties, food banks need to look inside for solutions.

Based on these premises, the following segments will focus on a case study, Open Arms Mission, and analyze how the structure and mechanisms put in place function. To this end, the Open Arms Mission food bank analysis will be carried through question-guided risk assessments.[supanova_question]

GLST 290

Ethnographic Interview: Interview Questions Assignment Instructions

Overview

For this assignment, you will submit a list of ten open-ended questions that may be used during the interview. This list may be expanded as needed during the interview. The interview process can be daunting if this is your first time conducting this type of interview, so below you will find suggestions to help you prepare. Please read through this entire document before you begin the process of writing interview questions. This is the third of four assignments of the Ethnographic Interview series.

Instructions

The interview instructions have been divided into three sections to help guide you through the interview preparations, the interview, and as you begin processing the interview findings.

Before the Interview: It is essential that you begin to think through the elements needed for the interview prior to the interview.

Interviewee: The questions should be written for the person that was chosen for this assignment series during the Pre-Interview Research stage of the Ethnographic Interview series.

Interview Question Formatting: Questions should be open-ended, semi-structured, and neutral. Interview questions should be written using the second person “you”.

Open-ended and semi-structured – While preparing a list of questions, the interviewer must remain flexible to ask follow-up questions based on the interviewee’s responses. Be sure to create a space for open dialogue. There should be a good balance of different types of questions. Limit the use of questions that may be answered using a simple “yes” or “no.” Questions that might be answered with “yes” or “no” are considered closed-ended questions and typically do not provide sufficient insight when trying to learn about someone. Use follow-up questions if you happen to ask a closed-ended question.

Closed-Ended Questions limit a person’s choice of answers; lead to one-word, yes/no answer: Is, Do/Does, Who, When, Where

Open-Ended Questions create a space for more in-depth answers and dialogue: What, How, Why, Tell me about…

Do you like living in Canada?

Tell me about your life in Canada.

Does your family like living together?

Tell me about your family and their living arrangements.

Do you celebrate Christmas?

What holidays do you celebrate? Tell me more about how you celebrate Christmas.

Does your family believe in God?

What does your family believe about God? Tell me about your family’s religious practices & their beliefs about God.

Neutral – Do not ask leading questions to encourage the answers you want to hear. Create a space for the interviewee to provide their own insight into their worldview, cultural practices, and experiences with other cultures.

Leading Question – a question that suggests the expected answer

Neutral Question – a question that does not direct the interviewee to the answer the interviewer expects or wants

Don’t you just love living in Canada?

Tell me about your life in Canada. What are some of the positives and negatives about living in Canada?

Interview Questions: Compile a list of 10 questions that could be used during the interview. Please do not present this list to the interviewee but use the questions as a starting point.

5 of the 10 questions must include concepts from the research conducted on the local culture in the Pre-Interview Research Assignment. Five source citations must be included for the concepts included from the textbook and other research sources.

Remember that the research findings on the interviewee’s culture contains generalizations about the culture that will serve only as a starting point. The interview is an opportunity to learn about how the interviewee actually implements these concepts in their daily life and interactions. Think about concepts from the research that were especially interesting that would make good interview questions.

Example of questions based on research content: Howell and Paris gave us an entire chapter on Language in the course textbook. You may want to explore the role that language has on communication practices. Ask questions about language and elements such as code-switching. Cite Howell and Paris on code-switching material so that you can return to it when writing up the interview analysis.

The prompt for the final interview paper (Ethnographic Interview: Analysis and Reflection Assignment) should be used as a guide for writing questions for the interview. The required elements are listed below with questions for consideration as you create your list of interview questions:

Introduction: Describe the interviewee’s background. Ask a few questions about their background even if you know the interviewee. Where are they from? When and why did they come to the US? Etc., etc. You may use a pseudonym (fake name).

Worldview: Describe the interviewee’s underlying rationale (this is the collection of values and beliefs that are the source of the interviewee’s practices). What does the interviewee believe about the humanity and God? How do these beliefs impact their values and practices? What religion does the interviewee’s family practice? What do they believe about humanity and God? How do these beliefs impact values and practices?

Cultural Values and Practices: Describe the cultural values and practices relating to communication and societal, marital, and familial relationships from the interviewee’s culture. Why are these values significant and how do they impact the interviewee’s practices? Ask questions about relationships (societal, marital, familial). Describe the makeup of the family unit. Are grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins considered part of your interviewee’s immediate family? What role does the family play in the selection of a spouse and raising children? How are collectivist or individualist traits manifested in the culture? Describe communication practices with family, others in their community, and outsiders. Are people high or low context communicators? How does this impact communication? (Do not use the words collectivist and individualist but describe the concepts; use the words in the paper, not the interview.)

Conflict: Show how the interviewee’s rationale (value, beliefs, and practices) impact their interactions with people from other cultures. How has or might the interviewee’s rationale lead to conflict when engaging people from other cultures and how might they resolve these conflicts? Ask the interviewee to describe interactions with people from other cultures. How have the interviewee’s values, beliefs, and practices regarding society, marriage, and family impacted their interactions with people from other cultures? If the interview has experienced conflict when interacting with other cultures, what role did their values, beliefs, and practices play in these conflicts? How do their communication practices impact their ability to communicate with people from other cultures? How did or might the interviewee resolve conflicts with people from other cultures?

**If the interviewee says that they have not experienced any conflict with people from other cultures, they may not feel comfortable enough to share this information with you or are trying to save face. In this case, please stop asking them to share about this topic. You will need to use your own knowledge, based on your research on this culture, to discuss potential conflict that could arise as a result of their values, beliefs, and practices for the final paper.

During the Interview:

You may conduct the interview over the phone, video chat, or other communication methods available to you. Please do not send the questions to the interviewee via email and do not ask them to send responses via email. You must talk to the person!

Pay attention and practice active listening. Watch for body language cues and be mindful of your own body language.

Take notes, but do not try to write down every word.

Ask one question at a time – This gives the interviewee time to think and respond to the question at hand rather than trying to remember all of the questions that were asked. This is especially important if English is not the interviewee’s first language.

Do not be afraid of silence! Give the interviewee time to think and process the question before responding. This is especially important if English is not the interviewee’s first language.

Clarify and do not be afraid to ask follow-up questions in response to something that is unclear or especially interesting. “Tell me more about…”

Write down new questions that pop up during the interview that were not in the original question set.

Observations – Make notes (mental notes may be most appropriate during the interview) of your personal observations.

After the Interview:

This step is important because it provides an opportunity to jot down information that you think may be significant to the interview analysis. To be completed immediately after the interview, while the material is still fresh on your mind.

Write out the details of the interview. Fill in the gaps that may exist in your notes.

Write out any observations that were made during the interview about the interviewee and anything else that seems noteworthy.

Update the list of the questions that were actually used in the interview – Add new questions and remove questions that were not used. This list must be included in the Analysis and Reflection Assignment as Appendix A, which is to be located after the bibliography.

The assignment may be written as a bulleted or numbered list but must include complete sentences. The assignment should include the following elements:

Format of Assignment: Current Turabian formatting is required.

The assignment should include a title page and bibliography.

Number of Citations: 5 citations from the textbooks or other scholarly sources are required.

Acceptable Sources: Scholarly sources are defined as textbooks, books written based on academic research, and scholarly journal articles.

Unacceptable Sources: travel websites, personal blogs, information blogs (about.com, bibleinfo.com), consultant sites, popular culture websites, essay writing websites, Wikipedia, YouTube, opinion articles, all sources that do not have an author, all sources that do not cite any other research.

*Note: Your assignment will be checked for originality via the SafeAssign plagiarism tool.

Critical Thinking

The Chinese company BYD is pursuing electric cars and hopes to become the world’s largest car company. With the financial support of American Warren Buffett, the company, which has only been in existence for a few years mostly making batteries, has caught the attention of not only Mr. Buffett but also many in the auto industry.

ELECTRIC AND HYBRID CARS

Electric cars (also known as electric vehicles or EVs) rely exclusively on battery power. With an all-electric EV there is no internal combustion engine, muffler, gasoline tank, air and fuel filters, and other parts needed to run a gasoline powered system. The vehicle itself also produces no tailpipe emissions, and by getting its power from an efficient utility company, overall, it produces fewer greenhouse gases. This is especially true if the electricity is produced with nuclear power, clean coal, or natural gas. EVs are also less expensive to fuel on a per mile basis. Electric cars, however, have a shorter driving range and are difficult to operate with long distance travel.

There are also some safety concerns associated with using a lithium-ion battery, as lithium is a highly reactive material prone to explosion

Do you think electric cars may become a viable alternative to gasoline-powered vehicles? What is the future of the electric car? Explain your answer especially in the context of KSA as Saudi Arabia is moving towards carbon free economy.

Given a business strategy of being the word leader in manufacturing electric cars with innovative technology, what operations and supply chain strategy do you think BYD should pursue? Identify what operations and supply chain should do to help BYD compete including a mission, objectives, distinctive competence, and key decisions.

Note: Go to the company website and answer the above questions. This is just an advice. You may surf net , company report, Saudi vision 2030 to answer the questions.

LMDi Case Study

LMDi is a leading insurance company that provides a range of insurance plans in the healthcare, building, marine, and aviation sectors to its 25 million globally dispersed customer base. The company consists of around 5,000 employees and generates annual revenue of more than 350,000,000 USD.

LMDi started its life as an exclusive health insurance provider 50 years ago. As a result of multiple acquisitions over the past 30 years, LMDi has extended its services to include property and casualty insurance plans in the building, marine, and aviation sectors. Each of its four sectors comprises a core team of specialized and experienced agents where they generate the company’s revenue by selling insurance policies.

Some of the key departments within LMDi include underwriting, claims settlement, customer care, legal, marketing, human resource, accounting, and IT departments. Both prospective and existing customers generally contact LMDi’s customer care department via telephone, although contact via email and social media has increased exponentially over the past few years. LMDi strives to distinguish itself by providing competitive policies and premium customer service that does not end once a policy has been sold. Its management believes that doing so helps to achieve increased levels of customer acquisition and retention.

Over the past few decades, the company’s profitability has been in decline. A committee comprised of senior managers was formed to investigate and make recommendations. The committee’s findings revealed that the main reason behind the company’s deteriorating financial position is the increased number of fraudulent claims and the associated payments being made against them. These findings showed that the fraud committed has become complex and hard to detect because fraudsters have become more sophisticated and organized. Apart from incurring a direct monetary loss, the costs related to the processing of fraudulent claims result in indirect loss.

The committee pointed out that the frequency with which the existing regulations change, and new regulations are introduced has recently increased. Unfortunately, the company has been slow to respond and has not been able to ensure complete and continuous compliance. Due to these shortcomings, LMDi has had to pay heavy fines. The committee noted that another reason behind the company’s poor financial performance is that insurance plans are created, and policies are underwritten without a thorough risk assessment. This has led to incorrect premiums being set and more payouts being made than anticipated.

After consulting with its IT team, the committee suggested adopting a data-driven strategy with enhanced analytics to be applied across multiple business functions so that different business processes consider relevant internal and external data. In this way, decisions can be based on evidence rather than on experience and intuition alone.

The insurance industry has a new and promising change. The IN-for-U Programming company has launched a state-of-the-art and technology-driven comprehensive insurance risk management system; it assurances reduction of losses by (a) improving risk evaluation and maximizing risk mitigation, which applies to both creations of insurance plans and when new applications are screened at the time of issuing a policy, (b) implementing a proactive catastrophe management system that decreases the number of potential claims resulting from a calamity and (c) detecting fraudulent claims.

Case Question:

Read the above case and conduct a SWOT analysis of LMDi company, provide three supported recommendations of what the company should do next.

Week 13 – Reflection & Share

Identify and discuss at least 3things from this week that you learned and think are really important to know. When you remember to include:

Where did you find it (was it in the reading for this week or the videos. Be specific, so others can find it as well).

If it is something you didn’t know before, talk about why it stood out to you.

If it is something you think others should know, discuss why? Provide the context for why this is important.

If someone responds to your original post, reply to them (at least a couple of them). If you don’t engage in a back and forth it’s not really a discussion.[supanova_question]

Project Scope Statement

In the current situation of the world, the delivery of food at home is getting popularity. The restaurants and customers find themselves in difficult stage when they have to communicate through phone for order. Sometimes, it takes a lot of time to understand. We propose a system where user can done everything in an application or website. They do not need to go through a hectic process. The details of the users are easily taken through the system. By using the food delivery app, user does not need to visit the place or restaurant. The system has two modules, admin and customer module. In the admin module, the admin will able to add the details of various restaurants, manage the details of the prices, check in the orders of customers and view the registered customers. In the customer module, the customers can register themselves by inserting their information. The customer can view the menu, restaurant details and deals which offer. Customer is also able to view his/her previous orders as well as ordering new food. Customer can track the location of his/her delivery boy. All the process of food can be viewed by the customers. At the end, customer can check out by selecting the food of their choices.

Objectives

The basic objective of the food delivery application is to provide ease to the disable people who cannot go to the restaurants in order to get the food.

To save the time of customers, when they stand in the queue for order.

It provides discounts and benefits when you are regular customers of the application or website.

It provides fast delivery when you do not have time to coo food.

It saves time of delivery boy by showing location to them.

Project Milestones

The project management requires various milestones of developing the system. If we clear milestones of the project at the start, it helps to achieve them in the given duration. Similarly, in our project, we have various milestones which we have followed in all our the project to develop our system

Total points: 100 In this project, you will estimate the fundamental value

Total points: 100

In this project, you will estimate the fundamental value of a stock and make a trade recom- mendation – buy, hold or sell (i.e., you will play the role of a financial analyst).

Guidelines for the Report

Your project report should include the following parts and will be graded on each part.

• Cover page: This should have the title of your project, your name, and the date of submission.

• A Table of Contents: This should list the sections (i.e., introduction, analysis, con- clusion, references, etc.) with page numbers.

• Introduction: The introduction should explain the objectives of the project and your plans to accomplish them.

• Analysis: Each part of your analysis should be a separate section and be referenced in the table of contents. You should include the following:

– Company description/background: This should include a brief introduction of your firm (for example, its main business, sector, industry, recent performance, similar to the first paragraphs of the company’s Wiki page) and some financial facts.

– Discussion of what data are used, the data sources (Bloomberg Termi- nal, etc.), sample period, etc. Your firm should have at least 5 years (the most recent 5-year data) of dividends and stock price data. Use it to compute the dividend growth rate g, the cost of equity E(re), etc.

Which range of data to use to calculate the growth rate g, the cost of equity E(re) etc., depends on which period you think would best predict these. We require at least 5 years of monthly data to make sure we have enough observations to do the estimation. You are not required to find a solid basis for your choice of the data range (5 years or longer). It’s fine to just provide some general reason in your report.

– Discussion of your methodology and empirical results You should explain the major steps of your analysis. please include discussion on the following:

? How you estimate the dividend growth rate g.

?  How you estimate the parameters, ?, of CAPM (you can use any other asset pricing model of your choice, for example, Fama-French three-factor model, Carhart four-factor model, etc.).

?  How you estimate the expected return of the market and that of the stock (i.e., the cost of equity E(re)).

?  The model you use to estimate the fundamental value of the stock. First check the assumptions of using Gordon Growth Model (i.e., the constant growth model): (1) stable business, (2) steady growth. If the assumptions are satis- fied and the growth rate g is less than the cost of equity E(re), you can apply Gordon Growth Model.

When the firm has a very high growth rate g, which is even greater than the cost of equity E(re), you will get a negative number for the stock price using Gordon Growth Model, which doesn’t make sense. An alternative way is to use Two-stage Model. You can assume that the high growth rate will only last for a limited number of years (the first stage) and after the first stage, the growth rate in the long run (the second stage) would be a number lower than the cost of equity. You can determine the length of the first stage and the growth rate in the second stage by yourself, either arbitrarily or based on some research and provide arguments accordingly.

?  How you project the dividend payments in 2022 if you were to use the Gordon Growth Model. Discussion on how you project the dividend payments in 2022 and in all future years before the second stage if you were to use the Two-state Model.

?  Discussion on how to estimate the fundamental value of the stock in 2021.

• Recommendation: Based on your analysis, what’s your recommendation for this stock?

• Conclusion Summarize your key observations / findings.

• References: A separate reference page should be included that cites references. Do not cite multiple URL links under the same URL. For instance, on stock quotes one citation for finance.yahoo.com is sufficient.

Notes:

• Whenever you refer to a chart, graphs, etc., please include it where it is referred to in the main body of the report.

3

• Please do NOT copy and paste the raw data into the report. If I need, I will refer to your spreadsheet.

NOTE: this guideline only includes the minimum requirements. Please add extra discussion/ explanation whenever it is necessary.

Guidelines for the Excel spreadsheet

• Clearly name each spreadsheet. You should have the following spreadsheets:

–  A spreadsheet named “Dividends and Growth Rate”, which contains the dividend data and the computation for dividend growth rate.

–  A spreadsheet named ‘Hist. Price and Cost of Equity”, which contains the stock price data you collected and the computation for cost of equity, E(re).

–  A spreadsheet named ‘Price Estimation”, which illustrates how you estimate the stock price in 2021 based on the data.

–  You can also include other spreadsheets which are necessary for your analysis.[supanova_question]

Rhetorical Analysis Outline Worksheet

Submit via Brightspace—See Course Calendar

I. Introduction:

A. Name of author, and title of work; a rhetorically accurate verb (such as “assert,” “argue,” “suggest,” “imply,” “claim,” etc.); and a THAT clause containing the major assertion (thesis statement) of the work.

‘Example: The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) created “Food for the Future” argues that the way the world approaches food development must change to ensure enough food to sustain population growth over the next twenty years.

B. A description of the intended audience and the relationship the author establishes with the audience

Example: The creators anticipate interested farmers, scientists, and corporations to view this film to understand the pressures on food production for a growing world population.

C. An explanation of how the author develops and/or supports the thesis, usually in chronological order.

Example: The EBRD cites interviews with farmers, scientists, and soil management experts to support their argument. They also emphasize appeals to viewers’ emotions by showing families struggling against hunger and the difficult work of growing food. Finally, the EBRD provides facts and statistics to convince viewers of the correctness of their argument that food production needs to change.

D. A statement of the author’s apparent purpose followed by an “in order” phrase.

Example: The purpose of this film is to convince people and governments across the world to participate in a food production revolution that the EBRD is proposing.

E. A thesis statement formatted like this: “Beck uses [A, B, and C rhetorical strategies] to persuade her intended audience to [take action, believe something, do something], and [these rhetorical strategies] are/are not effective because [why].

Example: The EBRD appeals to credibility, rational thought, and emotional responses to persuade viewers to adopt a mindset that the world must reconsider how people produce food; the most compelling strategy is the appeal to credibility because the sources they interview are experts in these areas.

II. Body Paragraph #1:

Topic sentence/transition: “(author’s last name) begins with/by…(make your claim about what strategy you see working address the purpose/prompt)”

Example: The EBRD appeals to credibility by including interviews with farmers, scientists, and soil experts.

Specific example to support idea: provide EXPLICIT textual support woven into your comments to support your claim. Thoroughly discuss all strategies used in the beginning

section, supporting with text. (Should be at least two or more complex, stylistic sentences.)

Examples:

Interview with Moroccan potato farmer

Interview with scientists creating meat in labs

Interview with soil experts

Discussion of how examples supports idea: Connect the strategy back to your main claim/thesis/the purpose.

Example: These example appeal to credibility because the emphasize the experts who are working in the field of food production. Appeals to credibility, or ethos, are important to convince the audience to do ***. [Other reasons you see these things as appeals to credibility.]

III. Body Paragraph #2:

Topic sentence/transition: “After… the author moves to…” “Building off the strategy he/she used to begin, he/she …” Connect an idea from the last sentence of the previous paragraph to the first sentence of this paragraph showing how the strategies build upon each other.

Example: In addition to providing credible sources to support the argument, the EBRD uses appeals to rational thought, or logos, by including facts and statistics.

Provide EXPLICIT textual support woven into your comments to support your claim. Thoroughly discuss all strategies used in the middle section, supporting with text. Should be at least two or more complex, stylistic sentences.

Examples:

Statistics on how many hours of work to produce potatoes

Statistics on population growth

Facts on environmental impact of food production

Discussion of how example supports idea: Connect the strategy back to your main claim/thesis/ the purpose.

Example: Define appeals to logos, or logic. Explain how these are appeals to logic.

IV. Body Paragraph #3

Topic sentence/transition: “After… the author moves to…” “Building off the strategy he/she used to begin, he/she …” Connect an idea from the last sentence of the previous paragraph to the first sentence of this paragraph showing how the strategies build upon each other.

Example: Following the appeals to logic, the EBRD uses appeals to emotion to persuade the audience to take the need to change food production strategies for the well-being of the world’s population.

Provide EXPLICIT textual support woven into your comments to support your claim. Thoroughly discuss all strategies used in the middle section, supporting with text. Should be at least two or more complex, stylistic sentences.

Examples:

Scenes with the potato farmer’s family

Inclusion of scenes of damaged soil

Lab scenes of growing meat from stem cells

Discussion of how example supports idea: Connect the strategy back to your main claim/thesis/ the purpose.

Example: Define appeals to emotions, or pathos. Explain how each of these scenes in the film make a viewer feel as they watch.

Last Body Paragraph:

Topic sentence/transition: “to close the essay/speech, (author)…” “Concluding the argument he/she …”Connect an idea from the last sentence of the previous paragraph to the first sentence of this paragraph showing how the strategies build upon each other.

Example: While the combination of appeals to ethos, logos, and pathos is incredibly effective, the most compelling argument is made through the appeals to credibility.

Provide EXPLICIT textual support woven into your comments to support your claim. Thoroughly discuss all strategies used in the middle section, supporting with text. Should be at least two or more complex, stylistic sentences.

Example: The appeals to credibility occur in several ways that support the other two types of rhetorical appeals. Explain this.

Discussion of how example supports idea: Connect the strategy back to your main claim/thesis/ the purpose.

Example: Therefore, the most effective rhetorical strategy to convince the viewer to believe the argument of the film is the appeal to credibility.

V. Conclusion

A. Restatement of thesis that digs deeper into the overall intended meaning of the text than the one in the introductory paragraph (Try not to begin your conclusion paragraph with “In conclusion”).

B. Reflection on examples and main ideas in body paragraphs, significance of these strategies, AND how they are linked to your thesis.

C. State if these were effective in conveying the claim/thesis/purpose.

D. Closing thought – closing out the main purpose of the text being analyzed.

This assignment should cite from the documentary film that you’ve chosen. You must include both in-text citations and a Works Cited page to avoid plagiarizing.

Reflecting the content of your introductory comments in this module, the topics

Using the documents provided you will write a lab report from one of the previous labs. You can also Reflecting the content of your introductory comments in this module, the topics you will propose should be issues that are important to a local community that you are a member of. We mean local in an expansive sense: What communities do you belong to in your hometown? In the Hamilton OHIO, Middletown, OHIO communities.

The purpose of this Discussion Board assignment is to introduce the idea of two issues you are interested in exploring in this class. The audience of these proposals is your peers and your instructor. Please compose two proposals that each offer up an idea for an issue you will be exploring through the semester. Each proposal should be between 200 words

Each Proposal Should Contain:

A title indicative of the topic you will be pursuing.

A Part One that tells a story of something that happened in the community you are investigating.  This story should point to a problem in that community. (Remember some of the advice you received earlier about action verbs–showing instead of telling.)

A Part Two that answers the following questions:

What issue are you interested in exploring across the semester? What local community do you belong to that this issue affects? Why is this community impacted by this issue?

What about this topic makes you angry, happy, or sad? Do you anticipate any challenges to exploring this topic?

Is the issue too wide or too narrow? Do you think you will be able to investigate solutions and eventually write a research paper about this issue?

The following questions could also help you create a rich and insightful proposal (and probably will be addressed in the full paper), but they are not required as part of the proposal:

What might be the nature(s) of this issue: Is it social, political, economic, biological, cultural, environmental, educational, multi-layered?

Who is already speaking about this issue? What do they have to say? What debates surround this issue?

Why does this matter now? What decision-making remains to be done?

What sources might be valuable to investigate this topic from multiple perspectives?[supanova_question]
