For a few years Carvana looked like a marketing and financial success — a new and fun way to buy an automobile. Clever marketing built consumer interest. Sales increased significantly during the pandemic. But the strategy now seems to be in trouble. Between April 2017 to August 2021, the stock price increased from $11.10 to $360.98. But it then began to slide down to $36.62 as of 9/9/2022 (link #1). In May 2022 Carvana laid of 2,800 employees (link #2). The company is also facing lawsuits (link #3).
