Objective: You will use trigonometric functions to solve for an unknown length of a side
of a right triangle, given an angle and a length of a side.
This project is designed to help you fully grasp the concept of using trigonometry to solve
problems. This includes finding the length of a missing side or a missing angle of a right triangle,
identifying these problems in everyday life, drawing them, calculating their values, and weaving it
all into an interesting, amusing, or creative story!

Your task is to develop a story involving the missing angle or missing side of a right triangle. To
support your story, you will need to use a recent picture of yourself. You will need to include all
formulas and all of the steps required to come up with your answer for your story.
Requirements
For this project you MUST complete two drafts to get full credit:
• Concept idea (rough draft):
o Rough draft of story, picture, and calculations
o Can include color, but not required
o Concept idea will help to ensure appropriateness, accurateness, and clarity of
thought for the final draft
o This WILL NOT be collected, just signed or stamped for approval
o This draft is for your benefit to insure you have done the project correctly

Review the Task Force Report and assessment tool. Although the report and assessment tool were developed for a university, they also apply to other types of organizations. In reading through the report, substitute “university” with your place of business; for “academic” substitute strategic; substitute “faculty” with employees; for “academic administrators” substitute organizational leaders, etc. Basically, you should reword Achieving a Culture of Diversity to “fit” your organization.

The final assignment is a culminating project designed to evaluate and analyze your current workplace in terms of inclusion and diversity awareness and practices. In your evaluation and analysis, for purposes of confidentiality, do not use the actual name of your organization. For ease in writing you should create and use a fictitious name. Evaluate your organization and you using the tools and forms provided in Achieving a Culture of Inclusion (the web resource for this chapter). Consider, in addition, the models, concepts, strategic initiatives, and criteria for developing greater inclusion discussed in chapters 13 and 14 of Diversity and Inclusion in Sport Organizations. From a leadership perspective, in an 8-10-page essay (not to exceed 12 pages), not including the required CUC assignment cover sheet or your references list, discuss each of the following issues as they apply to your evaluation and analysis of your workplace organization: The essay should discuss each of the following issues as they apply to your evaluation and analysis of your workplace organization. Use headings (APA Style) to prepare your essay from the following outline: Introduction (introduce your specific site, detail information on diversity, and explain your method of institutional research [explain and reference the Task Force Report]). Leadership (consider here also the alignment with word and deed in terms of the organization’s mission statement, and core values) and leadership strategies (e.g., accommodation versus activation). Strategic and/or academic planning. Resource allocation and employee and/or faculty rewards. Employee or faculty recruitment, hiring, and retention. Accountability (e.g., noncompliance, compliance, reactive, proactive). Typical behaviors and beliefs (consider here the culture and climate of the organization) and outcomes (e.g., low cultural diversity, organizational culture of similarity; high cultural diversity, organizational culture of similarity; low cultural diversity, organization culture of diversity; high cultural diversity, organizational culture of diversity). Recommended Actions: A descriptive conclusion of recommended actions based on your evaluation and analysis of the organization and leadership’s focus on diversity. Include an in-text citation detailing a “strategy for inclusion” from chapter 13 of the text. Support your evaluation and analysis with a minimum of six (6) citations from the readings in this course and other relevant, scholarly resource materials. Accurate APA format and style are required. Including proper citing of paraphrasing and quotes, source materials, etc. There must be in-text citations to back-up your statements (this is a research-based analysis).[supanova_question]

Because lessons do not stop when a student leaves the classroom, purposeful collaboration with other teachers, staff, and families can help reinforce and expand the student’s knowledge and skills. Whenever possible, teachers should try to engage families in ways that encourage them to have their child practice the math skills at home. Having both the teacher and parents/guardians on the same page helps to support the student.Read the case study to inform the assignment.Case Study: FionaGrade: 9thAge: 14It is the beginning of the second semester, and Fiona is having a great deal of difficulty in her mainstream algebra class. Prior to this year, she was receiving instruction in the resource setting. At her eighth grade transition IEP meeting, her parents expressed their wishes that Fiona be in the mainstream algebra class, despite her special education teacher explaining that low reading comprehension negatively affects the understanding of math concepts. Fiona understands basic concepts of algebra but has not mastered the skills needed to move to the higher-level concepts her class is now working on. Currently, her math performance has been measured two years below grade level and her reading performance one year below grade level. Fiona’s general education math teacher has spoken with her parents about the possible need for additional support, and her parents have agreed to help at home, as they do not want her being pulled out for resource at this time.The following goals have been identified by the special education teacher collaborating with the general education math teacher for Fiona:Simplify addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division equations [e.g., (2x 6) (4x 7) = 6x 13].

Solve expressions with variables (e.g., 3x = -24).

Write and solve the algebraic equation in a real-life word problem.

Part 1: StrategiesAs the special education teacher, select two researched-based instructional strategies that could be used to help Fiona meet her identified goals.Instructional strategies should include:Explicitly teaching related vocabulary

The use of the concrete-representational-abstract strategies

Graphic organizers

Mnemonic devices

The use of assistive technology

In 250-500 words, summarize the recommended instructional strategies, rationalizing their appropriateness for Fiona’s goals and ability to help motivate Fiona to meet her goals. Include specific tips for implementation.Part 2: 3 Day Unit PlanDesign a comprehensive mathematics unit plan based on the goals identified for Fiona. Outline three sequenced lesson plans, using the “3 Day Unit Plan Template.”Your unit plan must include:Appropriate augmentative and alternative communication systems and assistive technology to make the lesson content more accessible.

Integration of both formative and summative assessments to demonstrate mastery and support the generalization of learning for the student.

Integration of an appropriate ELA writing standard related to Fiona’s third identified goal.

Part 3: Home ConnectionIn 250-500 words, explain how you plan to involve Fiona’s parents in meeting her goals. Include a specific at-home activity to help in her continued success.While APA format is not required for the body of this assignment, sold academic writing is expected, and in-text citations and references should be presented using APA documentation guidelines, which can be found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center.This assignment uses a rubric. What happens to the overall money supply when a person who sells a government bond to the Central Bank (SAMA) places the proceeds in a local bank?

What is the burden of the public debt?

It may be argued that the effects of a higher public debt are the same as the effects of higher taxes. Why?

What is discretionary fiscal policy? What are automatic stabilizers? Give examples of each.

How does the crowding out effect tend to offset expansionary fiscal policy?

Assume a 5% required reserve ratio, zero excess reserves, no currency leakage, and a ready loan demand. SAMA buys a SR1 million government bond from investment institution.

What is the maximum money multiplier?

By how much will total deposits rise?

If the high powered money “H” in the Saudi Arabian economy is SR600 billion and the money multiplier “m” is 1.5, find out the following:

Total money supply “M” in the money market in Saudi Arabia.

Calculate the Cash-Reserve Ration (CRR).

Assume that the required reserve ratio is 15 percent and that SAMA sells SR3 million worth of government securities to a costumer who pays with a check drawn on the Riyad Bank.

The excess reserve of Riyad Bank changed by how much?

By how much has the money supply changed?

Suppose that the T-account for National Commercial Bank is as follows:

Assets (thousands) Liabilities (thousands)

Reserves SR 100 Deposit SR 800

Loan SR 700

Total SR 800 SR 800

If SAMA requires banks to hold 5% of deposits as reserves requirement, how much in excess reserves does the National Commercial Bank now hold?

If National Commercial Bank decides to reduce its reserves to only the required amount, will the economy’s money supply increase or decrease? Explain.

What is the money multiplier in this economy?

The first sub-topic will be elaboration on the concept of indigenous mental health and addiction to provide new knowledge base on the factors that contribute to mental health and how such factors trigger drug addiction among the indigenous people. This subtopic is significant because it explains the impact of social media on Indigenous people and how the indigenous people get involved in use of drugs which results in addiction.

The second factor is how residential schools played key role in destroying the future of Indigenous communities by torturing then to live without essential resources. The third subtopic is the factor of video gaming and how it is affecting mental development and causing addiction in youth. The next sub-topic is the impact of social media on mental health of indigenous people. Remedies to the impact of social media on mental health of indigenous people will be the fifth sub-topic in this project. Finally, the project will discuss the sub-topic on ppersonal connection with the impacts of social media on mental health and addiction among indigenous groups. The above six issues are important to research because they are intertwined and form the variables and factors that explain the correlation between mental health and addiction in Indigenous people. residential schools played key role in destroying the future of Indigenous communities by torturing then to live without essential resources. video gaming and how it is affecting mental development and causing addiction in youth.
B) SEVEN academic references

C) Outline and explain why EACH source is essential to your project (10 marks)

This scholarly article provides a systematic review of previous literature that have studied youth social media usage and intentional self-harm. This source is significant in this project because it provides insights on the possible adverse effects of exposure to social media on the mental health of indigenous people. The sub-topic is also relevant in providing knowledge and insight on how social media has been used by the indigenous people create addiction resulting from their deteriorating mental health conditions. Using the findings of this article, the project will link the mental health and addiction among the indigenous people to their social media use, thus find effective interventions to solve the problem.

Rasmussen, E. E., Punyanunt-Carter, N., LaFreniere, J. R., Norman, M. S., & Kimball, T. G. (2020). The serially mediated relationship between emerging adults’ social media use and mental well-being. Computers in Human Behavior, 102, 206-213.

This scholarly article examines the sequentially mediated association between young adults’ usage of social media and their mental health. It is essential in helping the audience understand the evidenced-based interventions that can be applied to help the indigenous people cope with addiction that is closely associated with mental health complications they encounter in their daily lives. Under this topic, a self-reflection on personal encounter with mental health issues especially the aspect of addiction will be discussed to understand the personal experience of individuals with mental health challenges. It is a significant source in this project because it gives a practical experience of addiction and mental health in an individual that can be related to what the indigenous people could be going through.

Short, J., Cram, F., Roguski, M., Smith, R., & Koziol?McLain, J. (2019). Thinking differently: Re?framing family violence responsiveness in the mental health and addictions health care context. International journal of mental health nursing, 28(5), 1209-1219.

This article provides a different perspective of mental health in indigenous people by reframing family violence sensitivity in the context of mental health and addictions treatment. It is therefore significant because it will provide a historical analysis of how people are still suffering from this trauma and thus the need to find a permanent solution to the challenges that the audience face. It further gives a nationally-representative of the Canadian portrait of resilience and flourishing indigenous people in complete mental health. The results from this article provides insights on the prevalence of distress, sadness, anxiety, and drug use difficulties are common among Indigenous undergraduate students in Canada.

Johnson, S. K. (2018). On our knees: Christian ritual in residential schools and the truth and reconciliation commission of Canada. Studies in Religion/Sciences Religieuses, 47(1), 3-24.

This article reviews the Canadian truth and reconciliation commission and Christian ritual at residential schools to understand how residential schools played key role in destroying the future of Indigenous communities by torturing then to live without essential resources. And also how people are still suffering from this trauma. This sub-topic is significant because it provides more insights on the trajectory of mental illness in children with reference to their environment and the activities the ae exposed to in their daily lives. The findings of this article are relevant to this research because they provide a basis of identifying the impact of these schools on children’s mental health.

Biegun, J., Edgerton, J. D., & Roberts, L. W. (2021). Measuring problem online video gaming and its association with problem gambling and suspected motivational, mental health, and behavioral risk factors in a sample of university students. Games and Culture, 16(4), 434-456.

This scholarly journal assesses issue internet video gaming and its relationship with gambling problems and anticipated motivational, mental health, and behavioral risks among university students. This sub-topic is significant because it provides more insights on the trajectory of mental illness in children with reference to their environment and the activities the ae exposed to in their daily lives. It is thus significant in this project because it provides an overview of how video gaming is affecting mental development and causing addiction in youth. The findings of this article can be sued to evaluate the overall impact of video gaming on mental health and addiction, from the understanding of its influence on child behaviour.

INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE AND MENTAL HEALTH: A global perspective. (2021). S.l.: SPRINGER NATURE.

This book unites Native and associated professionals discussing mental health issues in Indigenous peoples from the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania to share information, views, and methodologies for mental health education and research delivery. Indigenous peoples across the world often endured marginalization, fast cultural shift, and assimilation into an international economy that has little respect for their interests or independence. This source explains how the cultural schism has been connected to high rates of despair, drug misuse, suicide, and aggression in many societies, with adolescents bearing the brunt of the burden. It is therefore helpful in this project in understanding how tradition, custom, and culture have remained vital to these communities’ well-being, fortitude, and mental health.

Akua Behavioural Health (2021). Akua Mind Body’s Approach to Understanding Intergenerational Trauma for Indigenous populations. EINPRESSWIRE. Available https://www.einnews.com/pr_news/555646126/akua-mind-body-s-approach-to-understanding-intergenerational-trauma-for-indigenous-populations

This news article talks about Akua Mind Body’s Approach to having a clear understanding of the intergenerational trauma for indigenous populations. Such kind of reflection will thus provide a benchmark of measuring the extent to which issue of mental health and addiction in Indigenous people needs attention. Some examples of historical evidence to support the need for this research is that there are many factors which can have effect on the mental health of an individual which can leads to addiction. It is therefore significant in this research topic because it will provide a link between mental health and addiction in the indigenous people.

D) How are you planning on presenting this project? (What is the format?) (1 mark)

A PowerPoint-style presentation is now the typical format for practically all research presentations. A sequence of pertinent slides is created to provide crucial facts, statistics, or equations. Generally, I will discuss each slide and deliver the proposal orally. The format of presenting this project is PowerPoint presentation. I intend to use the first two slides for title and outline where I will include the list of all members of the group that took part in preparing and researching about the topic. The outline slide will give a roadmap of the project presentation to help the audience follow keenly every detail in the presentation. The next 4 slides will be for introduction to the topic and motivation of the topic of the project to explain why it is interesting, the significance of studying the topic, the solutions to the problem, a high level description of recommendations, and a summary of the results. The next six slides will detail the problem, solution, implementation of the recommendation, as well as graphical, images, and visual presentations to help the audience have a better visualization of the topic. Experimental results will cover the next 2 slides and will provide an explanation to al tests and observation made as well as the discussion and analysis of the outcome of the project. A conclusion and future direction on how to deal with the problem at hand will be captured in the next 2 slides. These two slides will summarize the main results an ideas and then give a reflection on lesson learned and future direction on possible research on areas that remain unclear. A final slide will be used as a backup slide to alert the audience that the presentation ahs come to a conclusions and invite them to ask questions, give comments, and seek clarifications in areas where they might have developed more interest or could have missed a point during the presentation. The presentation will end with a list of references in the last slide.[supanova_question]

Introduction During the infection is occurred, the ability of host to make

Introduction

During the infection is occurred, the ability of host to make a sufficient immune response affects the ability of its fighting the infection. The immune system involves abundant organs, cells, molecules and pathways and all they are connected to each other. The immune system is spilted into two major types: the innate and adaptive immunity.

The difference between innate immunity and adaptive immunity; the innate immunity is a fast and non-specific responding when the first encounter of pathogens, while the adaptive immunity is highly specific responding that leading to develop memory cells, it is stronger and long-lasting. The concept of building protective immune is the ability to recognize and remember a pathogen by the immune system.

Immunization is significant tool to prepare the host when the re-encountering of the pathogen is occurred by build a protective immunity. Immunization is a proven tool for controlling and eradication life-threatening infectious diseases. In worldwide, between 2-3 million deaths yearly (Uddin, J et al., 2013).

A vaccine is a material extracted from the dead or microbes or can be a part of its protein component, and it used to provide active immunity to people against some infectious diseases (Liu, Zhou, Li, Garner, Watkins, Carter, & Albaiu, 2020). Vaccines possess an agent, comparable the disease-causing pathogens, and they are developed from weakened or killed microbes.

History of vaccination

According to Stanley A Plotkin (2005), In the laboratory of Louis Pasteur, the history of vaccination was beginning when Pasteur was doing studies of chicken cholera chicken cholera, In 1881. By accident Pasteur discovered the method that made the chicken immune against the cholera. Then, Pasteur hypothesed that via exposure the pathogens to environmental insults (ex; oxygen, chemicals and high temperature), the pathogens could be attenuated. Pasteur confirmed this hypothesis by discovered vaccines to anthrax and rabies.

In the next century, Calmette and Guérin utilized an artificial media to make an attenuated Mycobacterium bovis6 strain. Furthermore, Theiler used the mice and chick embryos to attenuate yellow fever virus (Theiler, M. & Smith, H. 1937). Respectively, Paul Ehrlich and Ilya Metchnikoff developed the concept of antibodies and cellular immune responses. consequently, the vaccinologists focused on stimulating these responses (Stanley A Plotkin. 2005).

The types of vaccines

Vaccines have several basic types.

Live Attenuated Vaccines:

attenuation leads to produce of live attenuated vaccines or with reduced virulence. Liu et al., (2020), highlight that this type of the vaccines able to mimic a real infection and the pathogen into the vaccine can reproduces inside the host, resulting to produce cellular, as well as humoral, immunity. Live attenuated vaccines create lifelong immunity, particularly in the viruses’ infections, and these types of the vaccines perhaps make long-term effectiveness because the attenuated pathogens can replicate in the host body (Tortora et al., 2009).

However, attenuated vaccines have cons and risk: the attenuated pathogens perhaps mutate which causes illness in the host. Immunosuppress people should not receive live vaccines because the attenuated pathogens may cause infections (Tortora et al., 2009).

Inactivated Killed Vaccines

In this type of vaccines, the whole killed pathogens were used. After the pathogens being grown in the laboratory, killing them is occurred via formalin or phenol. In this method, the pathogen lost the ability to replicate inside the host, but it is still able to stimulate the immune system to recognize it. Inactivated killed vaccines are safer than live vaccines. However, there are one risk associates with this type of the vaccines, that is incompleting the inactivation. Because of the inactivated killed vaccines are not able to replicate within the host cells, they often require to repeated booster doses. Mostly, this type of the vaccines induces humoral antibody immunity while the attenuated vaccines can induce cellular immunity (Tortora et al., 2009).

Subunit Vaccines

Subunit vaccines include fragments of the pathogens that are selected to induce an immune response. This avoids the risks that associated with the previous types (Live attenuated vaccines and Inactivated killed vaccines). Indeed, the subunit vaccines can be created by modify the genetic of other non-pathogenic microbes to produce the desired antigenic fraction, these vaccines are named recombinant vaccines, such as the hepatitis B vaccine. Hepatitis B vaccine consists of a protein of the coat of the virus which is produced via a genetically modified yeast, such as toxoid vaccines and polysaccharide vaccines (Tortora et al., 2009).

COPLETEING THIS PART

The effect of vaccines on disease eradication

In Fact, vaccines are considered amongst the most, if not the most, effective medical development because they have successfully eliminated of several number of infectious diseases that once claimed millions of lives (LIU.M. 2003). Since 1997, not a single naturally acquired smallpox case has been reported in any place (Stanley A Plotkin, 2005). After the global victory over smallpox, the approach to eradicate polio went into overdrive. Resulting, by over 95%, the number of cases were reduced worldwide. Unfraternally, there are several factors as cultural and religious resistance to vaccination which led to polio’s reappearance recently. The campaigns of the worldwide vaccination controlled more than 10 other major infectious diseases. For example, measles, mumps, rubella, typhoid, tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis, influenza, yellow fever, and rabies was controlled. Most of the pervious diseases affected most likely babies and young children (Owen et al., 2009). The successful of vaccines relied on the teaching the body to respond to the wild type pathogens, rather than curing directly the disease, as what the antibiotics usually do (LIU.M. 2003).

Furthermore, Vaccines against several other diseases are still needed as malaria, tuberculosis, and AIDS. Indeed, there are existing vaccines need more work; to improve the safety or efficacy, or to reduce the cost. According to WHO data, because of disease, millions of infants die, and these diseases could be prevented by existing vaccines (Owen et al., 2009).

Clinical trials of DNA vaccines

The goals of the different clinical trials were demonstrating the safety and tolerability of the candidate vaccines and exploring in humans the efficacy of DNA vaccines. The injection of the plasmid that DNA construct is tolerated well in terms of safety in the patients and rarely involves systemic toxicities. Currently, tested DNA vaccines do not appear relevant levels of integration inside the cellular DNA of the host. The early studies in humans as well as the pre-clinical studies in non-human still do not reveal increasing in anti-nuclear or anti-DNA antibodies. The scientists follow up potential symptoms and signs of autoimmunity, which resulting of DNA vaccination, in the participants in human trials of DNA vaccines. So, these giving no convincing evidence of autoimmunity developing in association with a DNA vaccine (LIU.M. 2003).

Critical Thinking

The Chinese company BYD is pursuing electric cars and hopes to become the world’s largest car company. With the financial support of American Warren Buffett, the company, which has only been in existence for a few years mostly making batteries, has caught the attention of not only Mr. Buffett but also many in the auto industry.

ELECTRIC AND HYBRID CARS

Electric cars (also known as electric vehicles or EVs) rely exclusively on battery power. With an all-electric EV there is no internal combustion engine, muffler, gasoline tank, air and fuel filters, and other parts needed to run a gasoline powered system. The vehicle itself also produces no tailpipe emissions, and by getting its power from an efficient utility company, overall, it produces fewer greenhouse gases. This is especially true if the electricity is produced with nuclear power, clean coal, or natural gas. EVs are also less expensive to fuel on a per mile basis. Electric cars, however, have a shorter driving range and are difficult to operate with long distance travel.

There are also some safety concerns associated with using a lithium-ion battery, as lithium is a highly reactive material prone to explosion

Do you think electric cars may become a viable alternative to gasoline-powered vehicles? What is the future of the electric car? Explain your answer especially in the context of KSA as Saudi Arabia is moving towards carbon free economy.

Given a business strategy of being the word leader in manufacturing electric cars with innovative technology, what operations and supply chain strategy do you think BYD should pursue? Identify what operations and supply chain should do to help BYD compete including a mission, objectives, distinctive competence, and key decisions.

Note: Go to the company website and answer the above questions. This is just an advice. You may surf net , company report, Saudi vision 2030 to answer the questions.

Math final paprt Essay

Math final paprt Essay.

In lieu of a final exam, you are to write a final paper. You may write about any topic that you like as long as it involves mathematics somehow, and you explain the math itself as well. The paper must go beyond the scope of the course – you must discuss ideas or mathematics you didn’t learn in our class. You are encouraged to email and ask if your topic is appropriate. There is a list of example topics on the bottom of this page, but you should by no means feel like you are restricted to these! Topics explicitly BANNED due to ease and popularity:
the electoral college, the card game Blackjack, and continuously compounded interest.
Paper Style: This should be an expository paper. It should present an overview of a topic, either in mathematics, or which applies mathematics to it, preferably (but not necessarily) using math techniques you learned this semester.
The paper should be stand-alone, that is, you should be able to hand it to a friend or family member and they should be able to read it without having any prior knowledge of the content and without knowing about our course. You can assume your reader is reasonably comfortable with arithmetic, basic algebra (solving equations for a variable, inequalities), and basic trigonometry (sine, cosine, and tangent).
Expected Length and Formatting: We are expecting an (at least) 500-word essay (2-3 pages if double spaced with no pictures), in a professional-looking, 12-point font, with 1-inch margins. You are encouraged to create and include diagrams if it makes sense for your topic. You should cite your sources and support any claims you make. You can cite your sources in any particular reasonable format (APA, MLA, etc.); the exact style is not important.
Grading: A paper that satisfies all of the following will get 200 points. If it fails to meet exactly one of the following, your score will be a 160. If you are missing 2, the score will be a 120. If there are 3 or more missing, you will get a 0. If there is disagreement between the two instructors, you will receive the average of the two scores.
1. The topic is from mathematics itself, or if not mathematical, uses mathematics. It is a topic not covered by the course. The mathematics involved is sufficiently advanced (i.e., topic involves more than basic arithmetic, algebra, trigonometry, or geometry). If you are unsure whether it is advanced enough, email and ask.
2. Your explanation of the topic is clear and we feel as though we understand it somewhat well from reading your paper; your paper is, overall, well-written.
3. You show explicit examples of mathematical work being done out, or, if your topic is very advanced, you at least present some formulas, equations, or models and describe the aspects of them and how they are used.
4. Sources for claims are provided, and the paper is at least 500 words and no more than 1500 words.
5. There are no serious errors in grammar, spelling, punctuation, or mathematical notation. Sentences and logical
statements are precise and not vague, in particular, they do not create logical gaps in your paper.

Question 1: (06 Marks)

Khan Corporation is a midsize, privately owned, industrial instrument manufacturer supplying precision equipment to manufacturers in the Midwest. The corporation is 10 years old and uses an integrated ERP system. The administrative offices are located in a downtown building and the production, shipping, and receiving departments are housed in a renovated warehouse a few blocks away. Customers place orders on the company’s website, by fax, or by telephone. All sales are on credit, FOB destination. During the past year sales have increased dramatically, but 15% of credit sales have had to written off as uncollectible, including several large online orders to first-time customers who denied ordering or receiving the merchandise. Customer orders are picked and sent to the warehouse, where they are placed near the loading dock in alphabetical sequence by customer name. The loading dock is used both for outgoing shipments to customers and to receive incoming deliveries. There are ten to twenty incoming deliveries every day, from a variety of sources.

The increased volume of sales has resulted in a number of errors in which customers were sent the wrong items. There have also been some delays in shipping because items that supposedly were in stock could not be found in the warehouse. Although a perpetual inventory is maintained, there has not been a physical count of inventory for two years. When an item is missing, the warehouse staff writes the information down in log book. Once a week, the warehouse staff uses the log book to update the inventory records. The system is configured to prepare the sales invoice only after shipping employees enter the actual quantities sent to a customer, thereby ensuring that customers are billed only for items actually sent and not for anything on back order.

Questions:

a. Identify at least three weaknesses in Khan Corporation’s revenue cycle activities. [2 points]

b. Describe the problem resulting from each weakness. [2 point]

c. Recommend control procedures that should be added to the system to correct the weakness. [2 point]

Question 2: (2 Marks)

What are the advantages of the REA data model over the traditional AIS model?

Question 3: (02 Marks)

Identify and discuss two methods of production planning.

ICS 324 – HW 3 Due November 27, 2021 Solve the following

ICS 324 – HW 3

Due November 27, 2021

Solve the following normalization questions.

[4 pts] Consider the relation R = {A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J} and functional dependencies

{A,B} {C}

{A} {D,E}

{B} {F}

{F} {G,H}

{D} {I,J}

What is the key for R? Decompose R into 2NF and then 3NF relations.

[4 pts] Consider a relation R = {A, B, C, D, E} with the following dependencies.

{A, B} {C}

{C, D} {E}

{D, E} {B}

Is AB a candidate key of R? What about ABD? Explain your answer.

[4 pts] Consider the relation R, which has attributes that hold schedules of courses and sections at a university;

R = {Course_no, Sec_no, Offering_dept, Credit_hours, Course_level, Instructor_ssn, Semester, Year, Days_hours, Room_no, No_of_students}.

Suppose that the following functional dependencies hold on R:

{Course_no} ? {Offering_dept, Credit_hours, Course_level}

{Course_no, Sec_no, Semester, Year} ? {Days_hours, Room_no, No_of_students, Instructor_ssn}

{Room_no, Days_hours, Semester, Year} ? {Instructor_ssn, Course_no, Sec_no}

Try to determine which sets of attributes form keys of R. How would you normalize this relation?

[4 pts] This exercise asks you to convert business statements into dependencies.

Consider the relation DISK_DRIVE (Serial_number, Manufacturer, Model, Batch, Capacity, Retailer). Each tuple in the relation DISK_DRIVE contains information about a disk drive with a unique Serial_number, made by a manufacturer, with a particular model number, released in a certain batch, which has a certain storage capacity and is sold by a certain retailer. For example, the tuple Disk_drive (‘1978619’, ‘WesternDigital’, ‘A2235X’, ‘765234’, 500, ‘CompUSA’) specifies that WesternDigital made a disk drive with serial number 1978619 and model number A2235X, released in batch 765234; it is 500GB and sold by CompUSA. Write each of the following dependencies as an FD:

The manufacturer and serial number uniquely identifies the drive.

A model number is registered by a manufacturer and therefore can’t be used by another manufacturer.

All disk drives in a particular batch are the same model.

All disk drives of a certain model of a particular manufacturer have exactly the same capacity.

[4 pts] Consider the following relation:

CAR_SALE (Car_id, Option_type, Option_listprice, Sale_date, Option_discountedprice)

This relation refers to options installed in cars (e.g., cruise control) that were sold at a dealership, and the list and discounted prices of the options. If

CarID ? Sale_date

Option_type ? Option_listprice

CarID, Option_type ? Option_discountedprice

Argue using the generalized definition of the 3NF that this relation is not in 3NF. Then argue from your knowledge of 2NF, why it is not even in 2NF.

[4 pts] Consider relation R = {A, B, C, D, E} with the following dependencies.

{A} ? {C}

{B, D} ? {A}

{D} ? {E}

Decompose R into BCNF. In each step, explain which functional dependency you used to
decompose and explain why further decomposition is needed. And also make sure you indicate the keys for each relation.[supanova_question]

Here are some tips and details for what your final project paper should include. Also, remember that it needs Essay Bio 130: A Problem-Based Course

This worksheet is the beginning of a project that will be the focus of this class the entire semester. The first thing that you will be doing, is working on questions that you have about the prompt that follows. As you work through this project worksheet there are a few rules that you should follow:

Ask as many questions as you can

Do not stop to discuss, judge or answer the questions unless you are told to do so 3) Write down every question exactly as it is stated by the person 4) Change any statement into a question.

Prompt: You have just learned that your 2-year-old child has Cystic Fibrosis.

What questions do you have? Please write down as many questions as you can think of as an individual following the rules listed above. You can ask any type of question you can think of. Do not worry about the quality of the questions. Try to come up with at least 10 questions. At this point the order of the questions does not matter.

Now look at each of the questions on your list. They probably fall into two categories,

-Closed ended questions that can be answered with yes or no, or with one word -Open ended questions that require an explanation and cannot be answered with yes or no or with just a word or two

Now go back to your list of questions, and determine which of the questions are closed ended and which are open ended. Mark the closed ended questions with a C and the open ended questions with an O.

Now take one of your closed ended questions and attempt to change it to an open ended question and one of your open ended questions and change it to a closed ended question. Write the new and old questions below.

For each pair of questions, which version, open or closed, do you think does a better job getting to the information you are trying to find? Why?

Now, choose the 5 questions that you think are most important from your list. List them below in order of most important to least important.

On the next two-page grid, you and your team will compile a list of 12 questions, using 3-4 questions from each member of your group. This is a discussion with all members of your group. You must come up with 12 unique questions….you may not have duplicates. If a question has already been added to the sheet, then go to the next one on your list. Have each person give one question, then go to the next person, and so on. In the end, you can sort and group the questions in any way you want to as a group.

As the semester progresses, you will a) fill in answers to the questions on the worksheet when you learn the answers in class or from your reading, and b) add additional questions that will further your understanding of the disease. As you fill in each answer to a question, have your instructor look at it; if your answer is complete, your instructor will initial it as complete.

This worksheet will be collected at the end of the semester and will be worth 25 points.

Week 5 Discussion

Week 5 Discussion.

Can you help me understand this Writing question?

Discussion: Statistical Significance and Meaningfulness

Once you start to understand how exciting the world of statistics can be, it is tempting to fall into the trap of chasing statistical significance. That is, you may be tempted always to look for relationships that are statistically significant and believe they are valuable solely because of their significance. Although statistical hypothesis testing does help you evaluate claims, it is important to understand the limitations of statistical significance and to interpret the results within the context of the research and its pragmatic, “real world” application.

As a scholar-practitioner, it is important for you to understand that just because a hypothesis test indicates a relationship exists between an intervention and an outcome, there is a difference between groups, or there is a correlation between two constructs, it does not always provide a default measure for its importance. Although relationships are significant, they can be very minute relationships, very small differences, or very weak correlations. In the end, we need to ask whether the relationships or differences observed are large enough that we should make some practical change in policy or practice.

For this Discussion, you will explore statistical significance and meaningfulness.

To prepare for this Discussion:

  • Review the Learning Resources related to hypothesis testing, meaningfulness, and statistical significance.
  • Review Magnusson’s web blog found in the Learning Resources to further your visualization and understanding of statistical power and significance testing.
  • Review the American Statistical Association’s press release and consider the misconceptions and misuse of p-values.
  • Consider the scenario:
    • A research paper claims a meaningful contribution to the literature based on finding statistically significant relationships between predictor and response variables. In the footnotes, you see the following statement, “given this research was exploratory in nature, traditional levels of significance to reject the null hypotheses were relaxed to the .10 level.”

BY DAY 3

Post your response to the scenario in which you critically evaluate this footnote. As a reader/reviewer, what response would you provide to the authors about this footnote?

Prewriting—Process Analysis

Prewriting—Process Analysis.

I’m studying and need help with a English question to help me learn.

This assignment requires two paragraphs. Each paragraph employs a pattern of development that was covered in the reading for this lesson. If you’re not familiar with narration, description, or process analysis, you should review the required reading for Lesson 4. For your first paragraph, use the narrative and description techniques you learned in this lesson to describe daily activities. You’ll write about the activities you dedicate your time to: schoolwork, family responsibilities, and your job. Don’t forget to include other pursuits such as hobbies, sports, and volunteer and social activities. This paragraph should be between 500 and 550 words

In your second paragraph, focus on how you manage your time to accomplish everything you need and want. For this paragraph, use process analysis to explain how you manage your time. Consider the tools you employ, such as a planner or calendar, whether paper or electronic, or even a chart or list. Again, write between 500 and 550 words to clearly illustrate your process for managing your busy schedule. Your prewriting should total between 1,000 and 1,100 words. This is an example of what the description portion might look like: It has been a challenge to balance all the areas of my life since I became an online student. Each day, I struggle to balance my full-time job, my personal life, and my schoolwork. I work as a Physicians’ Aid at Holy Cross Hospital. Monday through Friday, I leave at 6:00am to make the hour and ten minute commute from my home so I can be on time. My job is multifaceted. I help the nurses and doctors by doing intake for their patients, taking patient weight and height measurements, temperature, and blood pressure. I also go over each patient’s medical history to ensure everything is correct. Most of my job, though, is focused on administrative duties. With all these responsibilities, my work day is a blur, and I often don’t have time to take a break before it is 3:30pm and I begin my commute home. Even though my workday responsibilities are done, my weeknight responsibilities often make me feel as though my day has barely started. I have two teenaged daughters, Zella and Jade, so I spend much of my evenings enforcing rules, dispensing advice, helping with homework, and occasionally providing a shoulder to cry on. Our dog, Gizmo, also needs attention. I must have dinner ready for the whole family by 7 PM, when my husband gets home. After dinner, I am responsible for cleaning the house. As if this weren’t enough, I am responsible for looking after my aging mother, since my sister Alyce is only eighteen and can barely look after herself. Two or three evenings a week, I go to my mother’s house, I pay her bills, help with household chores, and provide her some much-needed company. I must also complete my coursework. Though I like my job, I would like to help animals, not people. So, I enrolled in Penn Foster’s Veterinary Technician program. I find it very hard to complete schoolwork amid my other responsibilities. I am currently taking English Composition and Veterinary Office Management. I am really enjoying the Veterinary course. My English Composition course, however, has been a big of a struggle. The readings for this course requires my full attention. I find the writing assignments in the English course interesting and applicable to my future career, but the amount of effort I must put into each paper is exhausting. I need at least a two-hour chunk of time in order to get any meaningful work done, and that is hard to come by during the day with everything else going on in my life. I usually try to study around 11:30pm, once my children and husband have already gone to bed. However, Gizmo is usually still awake, and between him vying for my attention and my sister texting me every three seconds, I am behind on my schoolwork. Each night, as I stumble into bed around 12:30am, I wonder why I am putting myself through all this. Here’s an example of what the process portion might look like: To help find a way to balance all the home, work, and school responsibilities together, I decided to use some time-saving techniques, ask my family for help with responsibilities at home, and set up a distraction-free study space to help me balance my life. First, I started saving time by planning out our weekly meals instead of wasting hours each night trying to think of what we should have for dinner. I also started making a grocery list, based on my weekly meal plan, to save time while grocery shopping. Before I made these changes, I wasted several hours each week deciding what to make for dinner or haphazardly picking out random items when grocery shopping. Now that I have all those extra hours available, I am able to devote about an additional hour each weekday evening to my school work. Second, I decided to call a family meeting to delegate some of the chores and responsibilities at home to my husband and my energy-filled teens. Zella now handles all the laundry during the week for both herself and Jade, Jade cleans the bathrooms every other weekday, and I now handle these chores only Saturdays. My husband also agreed to cook or bring home take-out two weekday nights per week, so that I would only have to cook three weekday evenings. He also agreed to take one of my three weeknight visits to my mother’s so that I could have more quality time with the kids, as well as more extra time for my schoolwork. This is a big relief. With all this extra help, I now had a total of three full hours I could study every weeknight. But I still needed a way to avoid distractions during my designated study time. So, for my third step, I converted our guest bedroom into a dedicated office, since we so rarely get visitors anyway. I sold the guest bed and used the money to buy a sturdy office desk. Then, I got some good lights to help me see my schoolwork and a bookshelf on which I organized all my study guides and work materials. I close the door whenever I am working so Gizmo can no longer devour my schoolwork. I also advised my sister that I will be unavailable each weeknight evening between 9:00pm and 12:00pm, and I shut my phone off and do not log into my email or messenger services on my computer during this time, to avoid temptation. My new office has made is so much easier to get my work done, and I’m now back on track with all my schoolwork. I even have enough time left over to take a full day on the weekends (Sunday) to relax and spend time with family. Honestly, now that I have a plan and everyone has agreed to help out more, I don’t feel so stressed, I remember why becoming a Veterinary Assistant is so important to me, and I know I can do this.
