Stealing is wrong because it goes against the rules we have put in place in our society, but I believe letting someone die when there is a chance to save that person is worse than stealing. I think that rules should be followed, but when following a rule could lead to someone’s death the rule then becomes irrelevant in that situation.
While I think Heinz should steal the drug, I do not think he has either a duty or an obligation to do so, instead he has a choice. Again I believe that a human life far outweighs the prospect of making money or getting in trouble with the law, but I also believe there are certain people who do not deserve to have someone go to extraordinary lengths to save their life. Among these people I would include serial killers and pedophiles. It is my belief that going above and beyond to save the lives of people who physically and psychologically harm children and can take the lives of people over and over again are not worth the consequences that come with saving their lives in this situation.
I do think the druggist is immoral in his decision not to provide Heinz with the drug because he prioritized making money over saving a life. Rather than working with Heinz to come to an agreement in which he was paid for his services and Heinz was able to obtain the drug for his wife, the druggist chose to be greedy and withhold the life saving drug.
I think people should do everything they can to obey the law, until the law becomes an obstacle to solving a more important problem. For example, people should obey the speed limit, but if someone needs to get to the hospital quickly and an ambulance is not readily available I believe it is OK to go faster than the posted speed limit.
My culture has shaped my response to the above questions by teaching me to value life over money. It has also influenced my conscience by allowing me to live with certain decisions but not with others. If I were to put myself in the place of the druggist I would not be able to live with the decision to place a higher value on profit than on life. If I were in Heinz’s position I would not be able to live with the decision to stand by and watch a loved one die when there was something I could have done, even if that meant breaking the law.
I think someone in a culture different from mine might strongly oppose stealing the drug. Some cultures could value following rules over life, or they could view taking someone’s source of income as equally bad as the loss of a life. Also, in some cultures the consequence for stealing could be death or something comparable, in which case a life would be lost either way and when thinking about the consequences the theft could be viewed as too risky.

The evidence based treatments in the textbook include facilitated communication which gives the child the opportunity to communicate while typing on a keyboard with the support of a facilitator. this treatment is not effective however in the textbook there was a stuidy that found this treatment still being used. i agree with the textbook in this fact that this would not be an effective for of treatment. Medications can use used as a form of treatment which again i dont feel are very effective. Even with other illnesses or disabilities i dont find them to be entirely efective. i feel like medication a lot of times is just a mask fpr symptoms. it doesnt permanently take them away it just dulls them out and takes them away temporarily. Some of the medication treatments talked about in the book include secretin which is involved with digestion and has been known to help soscial and language abilities, Chelation therapy which is removing heavy metals from the body, and risperiodone which is an antipsychotic that helps with behavior management. finally Applied Behavior Analysis is the last treatment in the textbook. This is the most effective treatment. this consists of intense behavior modifications using operant conditioning techniques. this is the treatment i find to be most interesting and intriguing, i have heard about it bur didnt know too much about it. when reading about it it specifically said that there were two goals when it comes to ABA therapy and that way to identify the specific behaviors and the second goal is to gain control over the behaviors. just by reading those two goals i feel like that is a great place to start. when it comes to disabilities you lose control of some type of ability. therefore using this type of therapy one is being taught how to gain control of that behavior or lacking ability.
As for the non evidence based treatments to start i noticed that the chelation therapy as well as secretin injections were on this article as well both in the book and on the article this option is not beneficial when it comes to the treatment of autism. the luperon therpay sounds like it would be a little extreme, the dieting and supplements i think are great for anyone because it is best for your health. However when it comes to autism i wouldnt say that this could be helpful treatment wise, i think it would just help their immune system, energy, and body in general. this also goes for the raw camel milk, being that its healthy for you its great however it wouldnt be a cure. Antifungal therapy seems a bit odd to me and as it said could potentially be harmful. I also dont feel like all antifungal agents are curing even for some bacterial issues so i couldnt see it being an actual help for autism. Marijuana is just a temporary mask for symptoms as ive said before with medications. the nicotene patch therapy reading that portion i found to be interestiong. Although i wouldnt suggest it because i have heard some rough stories about side effects while people use them to try to quit smoking. I dont feel like bleach should even be on there because that is unsafe. as for the psychological therapy i have heard of the horseback riding therapy and the dolphin therapy. I find these two treatments to be very interesting and enjoyable. I know a couple people that have gotten horses for their anxiety and it is helpful. Being i have done both horseback riding and swam with dolphins it is a very calming experience and enjoyable. it isnt a cure but it is definitely a calming experience. Hold therapy i dont find to be a cure but i feel that it would help with a bond. Reply to :
The evidence based treatments that are dicussed in the textbook are facilitaed communication, which is a technique that includes a facilitator that supports the hands and arm of a disbaled person and helps them type on a keyboard. This technique allows a person who was autism to communicate, show awareness and insight, and reveal expierences that could have caused their autism. To me this was the most interesting because it originated in the early 1990s and is still being used, despite it not being an effective cure. Other treatments include medications such as secretin and risperidone, and chelation therapy. I think that therapy would be the most effective out of all.
There were many non-evidence based treatments. Chelation therapy was on this article as well. It is said that it is not effective becuase autism is not caused by metal poisoning and a child died from it in 2005. Bleach therapy sounds very dangerous because of the side effects it can cause. Another non-evidence based treatment that stood out to me was stem cell therapy. This stood out to me because it states that it is illegal, but is still being used. Some of these treatments just sound like they are making people test dummies and can be causing more harm than good.

The types of agression that I think was demonstrated in the documentary was hostile agression. Hostile agression refers to a form of agression in which an individual reacts violently to a situation. For example, it could be a threat that was made by another person or even an insult. In the video, the reason why i think it was a hostile agression is because if you see in the video, it looked like someone was killed or murdered and there were people crying and in pain because their loved one or even friend died.
I think some explanations for the violence and agression that was discussed in the documentary was that a guy said that Chicago is basically one of the most segregated cities in the world and that theres people who are fighting to survive,people wouldn’t choose to live this way if they had another way of living. <<I am not for sure on this question
I think some possible soultions to the violence and agression that takes place is if they are struggling to live, go seek help from a parent, teacher or just someone elderly. If they do not have anyone to talk to, they can go to a mental hospital which usually some people do not go to or even talk to a doctor about what they are going through or how they are feeling. Some excercises that can help is doing yoga. There honestly should be more mental health hospitals that needs to be built so that way more people can come and join and talk about how they are feeling. I know that there are some people who do not like to talk about how they actually feel and that they feel like they have no one to listen to them but I know that there are people who actually cares they just have to give them a chance. Also, the people who do not want to actually talk about how they feel, they usually do some sort of activity or excercise to take their mind off of what they are feeling.

Some types of aggression I saw demonstrated in the documentary was hostile aggression because of how someone reacts to a violent situation in a form of aggression. Chicago has a lot of violence to where these hostile environments create people to react to violent situations and act upon that emotion.
Some explanation for the violence and aggression discussed in the documentary was a way of life in these negative neighborhoods and also for revenge on others that killed someone. Tribal disputes are usually why a lot of people die in these neighborhoods and retaliation shots from these disputes add to the reason why people die. In the video a mother told the interviewers that she lost her son and she wanted revenge and she almost got a gun. If you think about the amount of people that also lost someone and that wants revenge and actually acts on that thought.
Solutions for the violence and aggression that takes place in these areas is from the gangs and poverty stricken neighborhoods. If people are causing these problems, put the childrens and families first. Next strict gun laws that are actually being enforced in these neighborhoods to try to get in control of these events. Lastly most of the neighborhoods are in poverty and if they had jobs and incomes created for them to leave and make a better life they would. Nobody wants to live like that at the end of the day and some of the reason why people do is for survival.
