During this module each student will select an organization within the Sport Industry to examine throughout the course. This is necessary as activities are designed to specifically examine, critically assess, and demonstrate (orally or in writing) your understanding of the concepts and segments of the Graduate Capstone Project/Paper. During this week you are to:

1. Choose your organization (Golden State Warriors)

2. Consult reference sources related to the problem you anticipate researching. These may include the consulting with a Librarian about availability and location of reference resources or using the library catalog to locate reference resources.

3. Develop a working hypothesis or problem statement.

In a 1-2 page document, tell the story of the problem or hypothesis you plan to attempt to solve/answer. Based on your review of the readings, discussion forum posts, and resources provided, what is a major issue that you can address through research and design?

Setting Goals

1. Briefly list any financial problems you face personally or as a household, such as too much debt not enough savings, or not enough income.
2. Describe your personal and household financial goals, such as paying off debt or earning more income. Include short-term, intermediate-term, and long-term goals.
3. Develop a list of practical solutions to help solve the financial problems and reach the financial goals identified above.

The requirements below must be met for your paper to be accepted and graded:

• Write a minimum of 400 words (approximately 2 pages) using Microsoft Word.
• Attempt APA style, see example below.
• Use font size 12 and 1” margins.
• Include cover page and reference page.
• At least 60% of your paper must be original content/writing.
• No more than 40% of your content/information may come from references.
• Use at least two references from outside the course material, preferably from EBSCOhost.
• Text book, lectures, and other materials in the course may be used, but are not counted toward the two reference requirement.

Research & Design in the Sport Industry requires students to identify, describe, analyze, and report on an issue or problem at their own workplace by drawing on the relevant literature. The issue could be related to collective bargaining, the introduction of new technology, sexual harassment, employment equity, overtime working, worker motivation and productivity, seniority, discipline, or management rights. By the end of the course students must submit a report stating the problem or issue examined, setting out their analysis of the causes of the problem and their proposed remedies.

Part I of the text begins with an introduction to research in the Sport Industry (both quantitative and qualitative in nature) along with a discussion on the ethical issues associated with research projects. For this module, there are four elements to the discussion.
